MItt Romney's Blind Ambition Tour

I have to be honest, never, in all my years of political participation,  have I seen anything like this current campaign for President of the United States. I am at a complete loss for words about what has been taking place lately.

I thought I'd seen it all in 2008 with the McCain selection of Sarah Palin as his running mate. That move was straight out of Barnum and Bailey. It never rose to the level of Cirque to Soleil.

But here we are in 2012 and it's gotten ten times worse. We've gone from circus to Bizarro world. We've made a complete jump into another dimension. Hard to believe this stuff is going on.

The outright misrepresentation of the facts, wholesale lying and constant prevarication by the GOP ticket and RNC minions has my head spinning. I am totally dumbfounded.

The only visible goal is to destroy Obama and if that means destroying America in the process, then so be it.  Hatred is a mutherfucker, isn't it.

Because blinded by his obvious hatred of the Black man in the White House,  destroying America is what Mitt Romney tried to do a couple of days ago. He tried to slam the President while the President was doing his job as the world watched.

This fool tried to start World War III from the sidelines, or at the very least take us head long into yet another military fiasco in the Middle East, as a thank you to the rabid Jewish clown Adelson, who holds his leash and pays his bills.  Adelson is nothing more than a well funded terrorist on the Osama Bin Laden level, who buys politicians instead of bombs, maybe. 

To put it bluntly, Romney was wrong on policy, timing, and understanding. He fucked up. No other way to describe it. Romney's only driving ambition is to win the White House. He is totally blinded by his desire for power. Unable to see the falacy in his latest attack.

And once again, President Obama has been left holding the bag. A bag filled to overflowing with bullshit by some simple assed non understanding and bigoted Republican.

I have no doubt that my President will fix this situation like he's handled all the other problems left him by Dubya and the many of the same NeoCons who now advise the  clueless Romney.

I hope the American people have seen enough to send this fool back to Wall Street or Mormon Hell, because he has certainly proven to be as useful as a vagina on a man.

Vote Responsibly in November.

Ann Coulter: Political Punditry's Paris Hilton

I've spent the past several years ignoring the "one note samba" that is political commentator Ann Coulter.

For those of you who don't know, she is a self described far right wing conservative who hates liberals and just loves her some George Bush.

She's got everyone up in arms this week for attacking four women who lost their husbands in the bombing of the World Trade Centers. Coulter accuses the women of reveling in the deaths of their spouses, using their deaths for political and monetary gain.

Coulter makes these accusations while traveling the talk show circuit to promote her latest book. She also doesn't see any problem with Dubya using 9/11 for his political purpose. Or maybe she just didn't see his campaign ads when he was running for re-election. People as busy as her rarely watch TV and I doubt she's even heard of TIVO.

The reason I ignore her is that she says things to get your goat. Things like, The Emancipation Proclamation should be repealed, she said that. Now I could get ugly, question her parentage and call her all kinds of racist, bitches, but one of us has to show some class and take the high road.

She gets off on the reaction that she draws out, much like a child. She makes illogical statements that she cannot defend, pretending to debate issues. She just repeats the same stuff over and over each time louder and louder, calls names, shouts down her interviewer if he doesn't agree and moves on to another outrageous position.

She does make a lot of money as a public speaker traversing the country, but does anyone take her seriously. I mean yes she says outrageous things but the first thing noted about her in nearly every introduction that I've seen has been that she is blonde, leggy and wears micro-mini skirts. Remind you of anyone?

I hope that when she crawls up on that big stage and stands there to greet her audience in the micro-mini, that she's not wearing patent leather shoes.

We already know she lives in a glass house and it's just a matter of time before it cracks...

Obama-Boehner Smackdown The Thrilla Outside Wasilla

Talks have once again broken down with Boehner walking away from the table and the deal. This time around President Obama was visibly pissed off. You could see it on his face and hear it in his tone. He has summoned the parties to the White House for a rare Saturday session.

As we wait and watch helplessly from the hinterlands...Here are some things to consider:

TRUTH-America is in an unsustainable deficit situation coupled with massive unemployment.

TRUTH-The present deficit/economic situation has never been seen before in the history of the USA.

TRUTH-President Obama inherited this mess. He made it worse by not increasing revenues allowing the Bush tax cuts to go forward, unchallenged. He has allowed himself to be caught inside a dangerous game of "good cop-bad cop" being played by Cantor and Boehner. The people are suffering.

TRUTH-Obama has moved so far  right of center that his policies resemble those of Richard Nixon, rather than any Democrat living or dead. There will be no compromise, only capitulation on the part of the Democrats.

TRUTH-Repeated White House cave-ins are not compromise nor bipartisan behavior.

TRUTH-The past election was not a mandate for teabag policy changes. It was an election that most voters sat out, thinking the problems of the past, were past....or a waste of time from the point of view of so called progressives who remain in the midst of a gigantic temper tantrum because they didn't get their way as quickly as they think they should...

TRUTH-John Boehner is protecting his own ass rather than representing the American people. Teabaggers have made it plain to Boehner that he will lose the Speaker of the House position if he compromises and strikes a deal with the White House.  What happened to "taking one for the team?"

TRUTH-Teabaggers have the power to force Boehner out of office...they have the power to reshape America into it's own bizarro view, but only if we the people allow it to happen as we did during the past election. The teabaggers aren't just playing politics...they are playing crazy politics and they are willing to destroy America in order to get their way...

TRUTH-Ronald Reagan raised the debt ceiling 17 times during his tenure in the White House, but you'd never know it listening to conservative republicans. Dubya raised it 7 times during the last administration.

TRUTH-Giving rich people tax cuts does not  generate jobs. Never has...never will. Statistics have shown over and over that the rich people hide and save their money, while the poor and middle class spend their money, putting it back into the economy.  Trickle down economics is a myth....pure and simple voodoo..or doo-doo...take your pick...

TRUTH-You can't have full economic recovery without increasing the revenue base. Reagan raised taxes, Nixon raised taxes, Daddy Bush raised taxes...Got to be done...Dubya sent the country into a spiral by cutting taxes and spending our resources on two illegal wars actions and a big pharma deal that gave a bunch of money to his corporate cronies...leaving us holding an empty bag...

TRUTH-When asked how to jumpstart the economy a few years ago, Dubya said "everyone go buy something."  That's a paraphrase, but the gist of how the economy really works. Cutting everybody but the rich cats a $10,000 check would go a long way in re starting the recovery.

TRUTH-Think a non-regulated totally free enterprise capitalistic system works?...take a look at South America...several countries tried it for a while, before the people voted socialism back in. The totally free enterprise system made five or six people rich and completely ground down everybody else...the same thing is going on here in America, albeit, at a slower pace.

TRUTH-Obama has said he is willing to cut a big deal, even if it means he loses the next election. He's got the American people bent over...wondering if his latest deal comes with or without vaseline. There has been no reciprocation on the part of the teabaggers.

TRUTH-At no time have the congressional teabaggers offered to share the pain of the American people...they still have their health care...they still have their salaries...they still have their merit raises...they still have their retirement....

TRUTH-teabag recalcitrance on Capital Hill is also tanking the states...will the governors speak up? If the USA credit line is lowered....so is  the credit line for the states....The states are caught between a rock and a hard place...

TRUTH-In an effort to get this deal, there will be no tax increases or closures of tax loopholes...but you can bet there will be lots and lots of cuts to programs that matter.....The Republican party....the GOP is dead....snuffed out by teabags...

So when do  we start this revolution?

Friday Rap-Election Week Postmortem Edition

Well, the mid terms are over and just when I think America has broken out of the groundhog loop and righted the ship, they fall backward again.

I mean how many times, do we have to repeat this loop before people realize that repeating crazy results in crazy.

It's not as bad as it seems, except maybe here in Ohio, where now we have rich men in power, again determined to keep an already backward state in the dark ages of transportation and education, among other things.

Kasich returns this time to the governor's office, thanks to his wall street friends and he has signaled that he is not going to allow anyone else to grow, starting with dismantling the progress that outgoing Ted Strickland began.

Every single “new guy” elected this cycle was in Congress when Dubya and company trashed this country. Every single one of them....Kasich....Portman...Chabot....Boehner...and Schmidt...

Every single one of them a professional politician...the very ones who destroyed Congress..

These are all old establishment white guys whose only concern is keeping power. If they really and truly had a clue or a solution...We, as a country would not be in the trouble that we're in today.

You voted for them...this is what you got.....All of them are against anything LGBT...All of them are against affirmative action and civil rights equality of minorities.....All of them want to privatize social security......All of them favor dismantling the Department of Education and Veteran's Administration, despite claiming to support our troops, which they all voted to send to Bush's illegal wars....This is the way they voted the last time they had power...and as for women...well....barefoot and pregnant and not in the workforce is their preference for us...

Time to take your medicine Ohio...open your mouth...or maybe I should say....bend over....

Michael Jackson

Michael has a new album coming out next month and typical of  MJ, there is controversy with his friends and family saying the voice is not his, but that of a sound alike.

Personally, I think Michael's diggin' it. He transitioned like Obi Wan when the Jedi allowed his student to “kill” him and as a result strengthened the force. Considering how much money Michael has made since he became one with the force, he is probably very happy and finally content.

Obama's still half steppin'....this time on Haiti...

President Obama did good with his initial response to the Haitian crisis. The 100 million dollars in aid is getting there, and it will get better in days to come.

However, there is still a problem, that  I've written about  before. The American government has always treated Haiti and immigrants to this country from Haiti as backward step children.

In the past, and up until the earthquake a couple of days ago.  Haitian boat people, those found stowed away,or those trying to swim to America, are routinely scooped up by the Coast Guard and sent back to their island.

Thousands of Haitians who make it to America are locked up awaiting deportation.

Why?

Because Haitian immigrants, unlike Cuban immigrants, don't have protected status in America. A Cuban who decides to leave Cuba and swim to America or boat to America or secretly sprout wings and fly to America, is greeted with open arms by our government as just another indication that Castro is a bad man...so bad his own people don't want to be around him..

But Haiti?  Haiti is poorer than a church mouth. The poorest country in the western hemisphere. American news agencies are reporting this phrase over and over as if they just learned that bit of information when they descended on the island yesterday.

Yet, The United States likes to pretend Haiti doesn't really exist except as a vacation spot for pedophiles and missionaries.

Granting protected status to Haitian immigrants would go a long way in changing the cycle of despair that envelops this small country. Protected status has been granted to other immigrants in the past by other Presidents in time of crisis, so Obama would not be setting precedent.

He would however, be showing some courage by going farther than he usually does. He is on the good side of many issues...He just doesn't seem to go far enough....Obama has a chance to rectify a big mistake he made by not granting protected status when four hurricanes hit Haiti last year...Like Dubya.....Obama turned a deaf ear....sending boat people back...and letting the island flounder..again..

It is a glaring double standard that exists in how Cubans are treated and granted asylum, while Haitians are allowed to sink into watery graves in the Gulf of Mexico...

The government, after all, does not bother to count the number of boat people who have drowned trying to get to the land of the so called free..

This is a time for big steps....not baby ones....Immigrants who have protected status can get a work permit and a driver's license which would allow them to send money home to support their families and to begin to break the poverty cycle...


Before the quake...Haitian families lived on a $150 a month....Protected status would allow more money to flow into the ravaged island, some experts say to the tune of about $50 million annually..

If Obama is looking to prove his Blackness to Black America....this is it...

If Obama is looking for a way to say “thank you” Haiti...this is it...

Why should America thank Haiti...Well it goes back to the Haitian revolution...yeah that same one that Pat Robertson was talking about.. when the Black African slaves threw France and Napoleon off their island....This small feat broke french influence in this part of the world, enabling America to make the Louisiana Purchase and become the bull in the china shop that it remains to this day..

Amazing what all that Black slavery action has done for this part of the world...and nobody wants to say thanks...

Protected status from the US would go a long way to right a wrong that has yet to be corrected...

And how good it would taste  were it  served by a brother in the White House on another brother named Martin's  birthday...

Mission Not Accomplished

Thoughts on Obama's escalation of the Afghan war.

The main message from our President last night is that this country is going to be in Afghanistan for a long, long time. Pundits are worried about Obama setting a deadline to begin bringing the troops home. However the key word here is “begin.” The other part of the message was the “begin” will start if and when the natives can handle the situation on their own.

This is the second troop escalation that Obama has authorized. Shortly after taking office he sent in the troops. This second surge will bring troop count to over 100,000. That's way more than the Bush-Cheney cabal thought we needed to win in the first place. Bush-Cheney was wrong on so many levels that I'm not even going to go there. But by Obama's reasoning last night, we need to escalate in order to draw down.

This Obama reasoning is merely a re-statement of Bushco's “go shopping” rationale to get us out of the deepening recession. Obama is now telling us that we need to make a similar move in order to bring our troops home and to end this thing.

Yet, in order for us to draw down our troops, the Afghan and Pakistani governments have to get themselves together and actually begin to govern and protect their people. This would seem to be an indication that we are not going to prop up any more corrupt leaders who screw over their people while pocketing American money.

Oh, and by the way, this is going to cost us another 30-billion dollars. In other words, we've got to spend some, to get some. All of these echoes of Bushco, make me very uneasy. The speech to sell the principle was much, much better. However the principle being sold was basically SOSDD (same old shit different day) -Bush Doctrine, to put a name on it.

The Bush Doctrine basically says we, as a country have a right to start wars, if we think another country is going to do something to us-not after they make moves, but after they think about it and before they follow through with any plan to harm us. We have the right to “preempt their plans and hit them first.

Here in the ghetto, that's called a sucker punch. We no longer counter punch, you know, never hit someone unless they hit you first. That's the way we're all taught, usually. The Bush Doctrine changed the rules and Obama seems content to go along with the status quo. Obama shows no inclination to dismantle the imperial presidency created by Bush. He seems comfortable allowing the freedom-stealing Patriot Act to stand. He hasn't even mentioned getting rid of the Military Commissions Law of 2006, which makes it easier to use American troops on American soil against American citizens.

Now the Nobel peace laureate is escalating a war albeit with the best of intentions, he says.

The plan says he is sending in the Marines first. Well, I hope this is an indication that he is really letting the dogs out to do what they do, what they train for-take out the enemy, Al Quaeda and the Taliban. If there are less than 100 Al Quaeda still there, then a Marine Battalion or two should be able to kill a 100 or so enemy.

I'm not happy about this either because my nephew and the nephew of a close friend are in the Second Battalion Marines at Camp La Jeune. They've already been to Iraq a few times. My nephew and my friend's nephew, did not come home whole like they went. But as long as they can walk, they will be sent back, and I don't like that, personally. They volunteered, so they do what they do. That doesn't mean I have to like it.

I wanted Obama to plot a new course last night. I wanted him to change directions. He had the chance to do that, but he chose to claim the war and attempt to do something. I can't say something different, because it's not. Not really.

We're still living Bushco policies and I know that somewhere in Texas, Dubya is laughing his ass off.

Choice with Change, Like Gin with Juice

If the leaks are true, then Obama is going to send more troops into Afghanistan. He's reportedly not going to send as many troops as the generals want. He has instead reportedly opted for some middle ground.

I'm sorry but I didn't vote for middle ground compromise. I voted for change. Change from the policies of the past several years, that have decimated the middle class, allowed big business to pillage this country's resources and to run rough shod over the American people, unchecked by an uncaring government.

In the first year of Obama, Wall Street is back to handing out multimillion dollar bonuses, Black people are still the last hired, first fired with the most unemployment, LGBT people are still second class citizens, and as a country, we're still engaged in two useless wars where our people are dying for no reason, and we're propping up corrupt foreign governments that willingly taking our money and laugh all the way to the bank ...

Obama is slated to speak at West Point tomorrow to tell us what he intends to do and how he intends to pay for it as well as how he intends to end it.....And all I can picture in my head is Dubya landing on that battleship, with that Mission Accomplished banner behind him...different place, different time, different president...same old story.

I can't shake the feeling that we are living through a third term for Dubya, only in absentia. It's not just the wars, it's everything except the style....Obama style is slammin'.....but so far, it is very short on real substance....

I know he can't correct everything in his first term. That is an absolute impossibility. What is bothering me is that he seems to not want to change things, really. I'm seeing more politician than leader...and what I want is more leader....someone willing to make tough choices that lead to real change...

Right now, I'm apprehensive. I don't need a propaganda speech with a pretty backdrop....I need some action...

I'm in the same frame of mind that I get when all those lottery emails land in my mail box and keep telling me I've won big money....you don't have to send me an email telling me I won...just send me the damn check....

Just issue the order...bring the troops home...and end this fiasco...

While I have a very big problem with police who arrest people inside their own homes....I have similar problems with the continuing prima donna behavior of Black men who only seem to remember they are Black when they run smack into the reality the rest of us live with..

I particularly take offense to the good scholar's statements of “I'm 75% white,” etc....as if that means something...

Any Black person born in America can make that statement, thanks to slavery, miscegenation , rape, and passing...

We know this thanks to Gates' genealogy activities and studies...We've all got white blood in us...

So what?

As my sister says....”perception is reality”.....in other words...it's not what you are...it's what you look like....

The troops are under the direct command of Janet Napolitano, Secretary of Homeland Security...

As long as this Act, along with the Military Commissions Act of 2006, are on the books...it doesn't take an act of Congress...it only takes an order from the Commander in Chief....

Swine Flu

Many of you weren't around in 1976, the last time we had a chicken little, “sky is falling” moment with an epidemic....

Our government, which screws up medications when they have plenty of time to get it right...are now trying to stampede the public into getting vaccinations for this upcoming swine flu pandemic...

The vaccine has just been created, they think... and is about to be tested....

Back in 1976...we faced a similar situation.....they rushed out a vaccine.......

More people died directly from getting the vaccine...then the flu bug....the pandemic fizzled...was much ado about nothing....

I will be honest....I'm part of one of those high risk groups and should according to them..get the vaccine....

However....the question is....Do I trust our government....

Short answer......No!

Will I get the vaccine?

John Thain, fired yesterday as CEO of Merrill Lynch after word came to light of his 4-billion dollar spending spree while Merrill Lynch was tanking, and he was asking the government to help out his company.

Seems Mr. Thain signed off on massive bonuses to his boys, paid himself...redecorated his office with an 87,000 dollar area rug...AND A 35,000 DOLLAR TOILET ON LEGS!

All this while he was laying off workers to save money.......

There needs to a special place in hell for these people.

But save the door man job for Dick Cheney....

Rich Man’s Justice

Bernie Madoff...you know the story by now. Bilked family, friends, clients and customers of an estimated 50 billion dollars, by way of an elaborate ponzi scheme. His sons turned him in. Several business associates who trusted him, have killed themselves, because they couldn’t face the monetary losses. All this while the SEC looked the other way, allowing yet another rich man to feed his greed.

Bernie’s been under house arrest since the scandal broke, living in a seven million dollar apartment with an ankle bracelet, so he can’t legally go anywhere of any consequence, like out of the country. 

This past Christmas, Bernie got caught mailing out a couple million dollars in watches and jewelry to relatives, I would imagine to hide the loot, or to take it to a pawn shop to raise some cash. Whatever his reason, he got caught. It was against the rules laid out by the judge. 

You would think that the judge would have put ole Bernie in jail for violating the terms of his arrest. Well, think again.

The judge slapped him on the wrist with a ruler and sent him back to his multi million dollar jail cell, in Manhattan, to await trial. What we have here is the best justice that money can buy.  

Put his ass in Riker’s. He has not demonstrated any remorse...not said he’s sorry for the guys who’ve killed themselves...He’s literally screwed his family and he gets to wait in a seven million dollar walk up in Manhattan. 

Why is it that rich people do the crime...but never, ever do the time....

Oakland Execution

A black man gets arrested by police for partying too much. He’s made to lay face down on the ground. One officer puts his knee on the man’s back. Another officer pulls his gun puts the muzzle to the man’s back and pulls the trigger. All this in front of a crowd with cell phone cameras. You can see the execution on Youtube.  The cop has not been arrested or charged. Oakland people have been rioting for a several days. The mainstream media has not really reported this story, yet. 

The same goes for former Cincinnati Reds Player, Bobbie Tolan’s kid Robbie. Robbie and his cousin were accosted by a police officer in Houston, in his driveway. Robbie and cuz had completed a run to Jack in the Box for some burgers...kind of like us in the Queen City, jonesing for White Castle. Robbie was driving a real expensive car and lives in a pretty white neighborhood. 

The cop took him for a car thief. Somehow during the confrontation, Robbie was shot in the chest. He is alive. But....Shot by a cop, in his own driveway, in his own neighborhood that was not the ghetto...This the son of a reasonably famous sports figure? It happened just after New Years....Why is nobody talking or reporting about this? Did I miss this story?

Now that we’ve got a Black president (soon), a lot of people are asking why are there so few black reporters in the White House Press Corp. I’ve been asking that question for years, since 1974, when I became a reporter.  The main stream is no different than any other American corporate establishment...overwhelmingly male and overwhelmingly white. 

Despite all the talk about post racial America now that Obama is set to live in the White House, the window dressing factor is still in play....in other words.....one black face, occasionally, or at the receptionist desk up front, equals integration and equality.

They want more Black reporters....call me....I will be happy to come out of retirement.  You want my resume, read my blogs and call me.

Anyone get the latest about Ann Coulter’s voting misadventures? If I read correctly, sort of between the lines...isn’t the guy who broke the story...the one she calls a stalker....saying that girlfriend voted twice...isn’t that illegal? Shouldn’t she be locked up for voter fraud? It’s in the Daily News, this past weekend.  She never denied the report...just claimed the guy was stalking her..hmmmmmmmmmm

State of the Union From the President Elect

While Dubya Packs up to move....

The president elect preempted the ladies of The View this morning, to deliver a sort of state of the union address. He is still a few days away from his swearing in, but as the man said, these are extraordinary times that need extraordinary measures. 

Obama was still way short on specifics, for my tastes,  about how he intends to jump start the economy or of how he intends to pay for it. He emphasized over and over that time is of the essence...that there is a need for Congress to kill the drama, put aside the stupid stuff and to act quickly to save the country from itself. 

He came across like Evilene in The Wiz, when sista girl stood up and told her people, “don’t nobody bring me no bad news.”  Obama told Congress that “now” is not the time for all those pork barrel pet projects, like bridges to nowhere, or playgrounds in your daughter’s backyard for your grandkids. 

It also sounded like a polite warning to so called special interests groups to back off a bit and to be patient. The greater good is more important, at this point in time. 

Obama said that the only way to pull out of this mess was to pull together and work it out. He said the bailouts were necessary evils that have to be done, but they will now become last resort and come with strings attached. Strings that will benefit the taxpayer.

By the by...this is the day that Dick Cheney gets to count the electoral votes officially making Obama the winner of the presidential election, back on November 4th. Bet he’s real thrilled to do that. Obama wins by a two to one margin. But cha already knew that. 

Let the celebration begin!

The CEO of Merrill Lynch, some guy I’ve never heard of, whose firm was one of those bailed out by us taxpayers, got an 86 million dollar paycheck...

That’s 57-thousand plus in salary.....15 million in signing bonus...and 68 million in stock options.

We, the taxpayers gave Merrill Lynch more than 10 billion dollars back in October...

Am I the only one feeling like an all day sucker....We should change the name from the United States of America to The Lollipop Guild, because we definitely aren’t in Kansas, anymore

He Did it for Black People

Your outgoing President tells the Washington Times that he should be right up there next Martin Luther King, in the hearts of Black People, when it comes to civil rights. Dubya told the newspaper, this past weekend, that he only wanted to privatize Social Security because he had Black people’s well being in mind. He also said “no child left behind” was his way of helping Black kids learn more, so they can compete with white kids.

Oh....and you can thank him for paving the way for Barack Obama. According to Dubya, he is the reason America is soon to have its first Black president.

I can buy that. Just wished he hadn’t burned down the neighborhood before he invited the coloreds to move in....

Like a Dog with a Bone

The FCC and the Justice Department, just won’t let go. The Foolish Communications Commission and the US Department of Jakeleg Justice has taken nipplegate to the United States Supreme Court. The FCC wants SUPCO to drop everything and overturn a lower court decision which threw out the half million dollar fine against CBS network, levied following the superbowl performance of Janet Jackson and Justin Timberlake. The lower court ruled back in July that the FCC had lost its mind and gone all the way crazy trying to protect folks from the so called morally debasing performance of Ms. Jackson and Mr. Timberlake. Especially since the problem part of the several minute song and dance lasted just 9/16th of one second. Click here to refresh your memory.

I don’t understand the FCC’s rabid pursuit of this one incident, when there are hundreds of other incidents that can be pursued daily. Things that routinely come out of the mouths of broadcasters with names like Cunningham, Limbaugh, Savage, Quinn, Hannity, O”Reilly to name a few, who are hellbent on slandering or destroying anyone or anything that does not fit their definition of America.

Bill Cunningham, in particular galls me because he hails from my neck of the woods and because I one time considered him a friend. But the things coming out of his mouth these days, makes me wonder about my own sanity in remembering that we had at least broken bread as fellow reporters chasing the same stories back in the 70s. I met Cunningham when he worked as a radio reporter for WCKY, before and during the time he went to law school. I worked at the same time for 55-KRC/Q102 AM & FM. We were rivals, yes, but friendly rivals. There was no hint of the vitriol that he spews now. A lady named Nancy Clark was the main street reporter for CKY, but Cunningham hit the streets regularly, too. All reporters know every other reporter in their city. We spent more than enough time together as rivals to know each other’s personality. I’m truly surprised. Click here for more.

The FCC is another one of those government agencies run amok within the Bush Administration these past eight years. Among the many first things that our new president needs to do is to rein in these idiots by taking back the so called morality protection mandate handed them by Dubya and company. As for SUPCO, well, it has better things to do then to contemplate the fleeting glance of a superstar’s pastie covered left breast.

Congress Threatened with Martial Law

Last month I posted about Dubya’s intent to deploy American military on American soil for potential use against Citizens for the first time in the history of our country. You can read it here. I have also linked a post from October 2006 that you can read here. The second post is the first time that I talked about the changing laws stripping us of our civil liberties and constitutional rights.

Now comes word of a Youtube video that purports to show that some congress members were threatened with the use of troops in the streets if they didn’t vote for the financial bailout bill, last week.

Contained in the report, which is posted on Alternet is an interview which paints a pretty chilling scenario of what could happen if Dubya takes it upon himself to impose martial law. A move that is perfectly legal because of laws pushed through Congress in the past couple of years. These laws include; The Military Commissions Act, Public Law 109-364, and The Patriot Act.

Don't think it can happen. Well, who would've thought that Wall Street would collapse or that we are actually facing another depression.

Think about it. Especially before you cast your vote for the next president of the United States. Who do you want in control of that red phone or the US Military at any time of the day..

McCain, One Uppity MoFo...er...Maverick

Presumptuous.....Uppity....Disrespectful....Narcissistic....I’m talking about McCain. He’s sending his boys, Joe Lieberman and Lindsey Graham to Georgia to show....what?...that he is large and in charge?...that he is the one who will make the decision about pulling Georgian ass out of its self inflicted bonfire.

Yes, they are both senators and both sit on the Armed Services Committee. But both also have their respective noses planted firmly up McCain’s butt.

I guess McCain is making hay while Obama is on vacation and I hope the MSM realizes this and calls this grandstanding for what it is....a blatant attempt to hijack the party away from Dubya. Or maybe it’s a subversive attempt by the back room neocons who control McCain’s campaign, to keep control of the flagging GOP.

No matter what you think of Shrub....and I mean I have absolutely no love for the guy...he is still the president...still the one in control and still the one who has to make the real decisions. McCain’s decision to call a news conference, no less, smacks of hubris.

McCain is playing politics, period. He is doing what the neocons want him to do.....using war and its background to scare and control people. Karl Rove may be gone, but his mini me’s are running rampant at the head of McCain’s bid for the White House. McCain is apparently to dim to realize he is being used, again.

This Georgia thing is more B.S. instigated by our current White House. Dubya’s made promises he can’t possibly keep.... and the Georgian President was not bright enough to recognize the Shrub talk for what it was, namely some misguided cowboy bravado.

As a result, we’ve got a minor ally facing off against one of the really bad guys in the world, demanding that we jump in, when we can’t, even if we wanted to. Which I hope we don’t. I like living between world wars, not during.

Let’s see if Condi really is the Soviet expert and up to the task. Let’s see if she can put a lid on this explosion, before vigilante John McQ fogs up things more.

Message to McCain......... Hey John....this is for real...not a campaign ad or a rehearsal....put your feet back into your 500 dollar ferragamo loafers and go sit down!

Did I Just Miss the Election?

Or is John McCain attempting to act presidential with his hawkish vibrato on the Georgia-Russia situation.

If this is his idea of showing us how well prepared he is to lead this country, then I have a few problems with his style. The John Wayne style of shooting from the hip and asking questions later doesn’t work in the real world anymore, if it ever did. And if he is attempting to live up to his misnamed nickname, then he is screwing that up, too. Maverick’s are loners who follow their own way. Madonna’s a maverick, Jane Fonda’s a maverick, Cool Hand Luke’s a maverick, Jack Nicholson’s a maverick, Dennis Kucinich is a maverick, Ron Paul is a maverick, Ralph Nader is a maverick....John McCain?.......nah!

Telling a group of reporters that countries don’t invade other countries in the 21st century was just plain dumb. Think about it, John....how did we get into Iraq, again? Did Saddam invite us for tea and a sleep over? No matter what Dubya’s reasons were, it was an invasion, plain and simple, and it happened in the 21st century.

And that other thing you said.....there is an old saying; don’t let your mouth make promises that your ass can’t keep. If you don’t occupy the White House, you can’t declare all of us Americans, Georgians and then tell those people “we’ve” got your back. I mean, where you git that “we” shit kemo sabe?

That’s a punch line from an old joke that McCain is old enough to know..Hell, he was probably there when it was written.

The joke goes like this; The Lone Ranger and his faithful Indian companion Tonto are riding along when suddenly they find themselves surrounded by Indians. The Lone Ranger looks at Tonto and says, “well old friend, I guess this is it, we’re outnumbered.” To which Tonto leans back on his horse and replies, “where you git that “we” shit kemo sabe..”

I’m with Tonto. I ain’t in this mess and I don’t like being put in the middle of a situation created by some useless promises and platitudes issued by that other fool, who still does occupy the White House.

McCain’s obviously missed the fact that we’re kind of short on troops these days what with those situations in Afghanistan and Iraq. Going guns blazing into Georgia would probably get us into a shooting match with Russia and drag the rest of the world down the non returnable rabbit hole of World War III.

The last time I looked, Shrub was still president, Dick Cheney was still VP. I don’t recall seeing John McCain listed anywhere in the current chain of command. And I do seem to recall him lambasting Obama in commercial after frickin commercial, about attempting to be presidential when he hasn’t yet won the election. At least Bush is sending his Russian expert, Condi Rice. Finally, she gets to do something other than play piano and demonstrate her predawn exercise routine.


Diplomacy is the way adults handle situations. The red phone is not some button in the cockpit of a practice mini bomber. Press the button and we lose the pilot and plane. Pick up the red phone and we lose the world.

Think about it, genius.

At the rate McCain is going, we can just hold Obama’s coronation tomorrow, or whenever he returns from vacation.

A Head Full of Stuff.....

Playing politics with oil again...congress failed to approve the release of 70 million barrels of oil from our federal reserve. 70 million barrels is about a three day supply for this country. Democrats in the House failed to garner the needed two thirds majority in order to get the bill passed. The GOP refused to vote for the measure, reportedly because they want to force a vote on repealing the ban against off shore drilling.

It’s all politics....The two parties are maneuvering against each other while not giving two shits in a tin can about us, the people.

So Congress heads into a five week vacation without any action at all being taken to help us out, again.

Estelle Getty died this week.....May she find peace....The Golden Girls are responsible for the only speeding ticket that I have had to pay...I’ve been caught three times, warned twice, ticketed once....Down in the Natchez Trace in Mississippi....I was racing to get back to where I was staying in Kosciousko Mississippi...better known as Oprah’s hometown....I left the interstate and got onto the Trace to make my way back...well....The Natchez Trace is federal land...and at that time...the federal speed limit was 50 miles per hour....I was doing considerably more than that because I wanted to see the Golden Girls and TIVO didn’t exist at that time....I was caught by a federal cop who did a U-turn on my butt and told me if I wanted to fight it, I had to go to Texas...as I said I was in Mississippi and I was visiting from Illinois....needless to say....I eventually paid the ticket....But I missed that episode of the Golden Girls....I still love em all....

Dubya Wins Again

I’ve got a question........What difference does it make if we throw the dummy out of the White House, when congress continues to rubber stamp his abusive policies and validates his blatant disregard for our constitution.

I’m talking about the passage of FISA, the foreign intelligence surveillance act. This act allows the government to spy on Americans without having to show proof and get a warrant first. This act also exempts the big telecom companies from lawsuits from citizens for the illegal spying that has been going on since 9/11. Makes me want to send Verizon my cell phone and tell them which orifice to stick it up. Pay as you go cell is looking better and better everyday.

Obama voted for this garbage. Hillary voted against it. I don’t think McCain knows what it is. He’s too busy making jokes about killing Iranian civilians.

The thing that ticks me off about Obama is that I heard him say he would vote for it, then look at it later for revision, I guess after he is in the White House. Hell, why put it into effect at all? Why not vote it down in the first place. He is still a Senator, after all. And there is no guarantee he is going to make it to the White House for a second look in the first place.

That’s procrastination, bro...a terminal illness among my brothers of a similar color. Obama still has my vote, but I’m not a happy camper today.

Anyway...I've said it before, and I will say it again....

After we change the White House, we need to clear out Capital Hill, starting with Nancy Pelosi and that absolutely worthless majority leader, Harry Reid.

Jesse Helms died today....quoting the late, great Jackie “Moms” Mabley.....” never say anything about the dead, unless you can say something good..............”he’s dead....good!”

The professional bigot will not be missed on this block. He opposed anything connected to civil rights....the Martin Luther King national holiday, the Civil Rights Act, integration, affirmative action, you name it. If it helped minorities reach equal ground with whites, he was against it.

Throwing Stones

Did ya hear what former press secretary Scott McClellan said about the Bush Administration in his soon to be released book? The mainstream media hype machine is working overtime today, quoting this latest tome by a Bush insider, who is now speaking out about the last eight hellacious years of pseudo government.

I haven’t read the book yet. But it supposedly takes dead aim at Karl Rove, Dick Cheney and Scooter Libby. He also allegedly takes some pot shots at Condi, too.

According to McClellan, if the hype is to be believed, Dubya’s boys lied about Iraq and tried to ignore Katrina, rather than deal with the problems head on. Anyone who’s been alive these past eight years already knows this. Tell us something we don’t know.

Why should Scott be surprised that Bush and company embraced propaganda and lies rather than the truth? This is after all the party that coined the phrase "welfare queen and gave us Willie Horton."

What I do know is that McClellan didn’t quit his post as minister of propaganda..he was pushed out. Guess that cushy pay check was too much to walk away from strictly on moral grounds.

Black Elephants

I read a commentary today on The Daily Voice, a blog edited by Keith Boykin, someone that I hold in very high regard. The commentary was written by Yvonne Davis the former head of African Americans for Bush. I started laughing as soon as I got to her first sentence.

She was asking the question of what black members of the party of Lincoln are supposed to do, now that Bush is leaving office and John McCain is not as welcoming as Dubya was. I don’t know....celebrate, maybe...break out the forties and glocks and shoot into the air?!

Davis continues with the question, what are the “black dots” at the GOP convention to do? Support Obama, now that it looks like McCain is not willing to buy black votes by appointing African Americans to powerless points within his administration, should it come to be. According to Davis, McCain’s campaign is going all out to win Hispanics while totally ignoring blacks, very unlike the Bush campaign led by Karl Rove and company. After all, Bush did put Condi at the State Department and attempted to use Colin Powell as a shield until he quit.

She speculates that black elephants will quietly defect to the democratic side or just stay home on election day.

I speculate that the sista is just looking for a job. She could give a damn about public service, which is what the government really is. Ms. Davis just wants to get paid.

The terms I used....black dots and black elephants...were her terms...not mine. I found her commentary highly offensive in referencing our people.

She needs to understand that the party of Lincoln may have called itself the Republican Party...but it has nothing except name in common with the GOP of today.
