Dear John Boehner

Mr. Speaker,

It has certainly been a rowdy couple of days, what with all the rulings being handed down by the United States Supreme Court. Today the Supremes struck down the Defense of Marriage Act, signed into law by Bill Clinton several years ago, and vigorously defended by your own Congress to the tune of 2.3 million dollars of taxpayer's money, when the White House ordered the Department of Justice to stand down.

But you knew this was gonna happen because most of the country, your constituents were against you before you committed the money. But it's no biggie. The duckets didn't come out of your pocket. It's not like you are sequester-bound or in a budget crunch like the rest of us. And you still have DOMA solidly in place in Ohio for the foreseeable future.

I'm happy that DOMA went down but I'm not here to gloat. That's not the purpose for this letter. I want to talk about the decision that came down on Tuesday. You know the one that eviscerated the Voting Rights Act of 1965. The law that was signed by Lyndon Baines Johnson and effectively changed the United States for the better, according to some of us, anyway.

Judging from the response by the Grand Old Party of which you are considered to be one of the guiding lights in your capacity as Speaker of the House, you guys are being very quiet. I mean you got what you wanted. Your posse on the high court just about knocked the Black off us, shoving us toward the back of the bus once again, reminding us of our place in your country. You have real cause for celebration, after all you all have been working for years to remove this particular thorn in your side and change the course of history. Yesterday must have felt almost as good as rewriting the ending to the War between the States. Symbolically at least, you slapped my people back into chains.

But let me put a bug in your ear, if I may. The GOP took quite a beating in the last national election. I mean that Kenyan has laid two beat downs in a row on ya, now. The good news is he can't run again. But it looks like you're headed for oblivion electorally because you and your boys in Congress spend more time in the bars and on the golf course than you do legislating. Other than making laws to disenfranchise women, you're not legislating at all.

Doing nothing is hurting the President, yes. But it's also kicking your ass, too. In order to take back control permanently your party really and truly does need to attract Blacks, Browns and everybody else who is not white and male, in order to win the next election and survive. Your GOP chairman and all other speaking members of your party say you must be more inclusive. So why not take this nugget from the Supreme Court and repackage the Voting Rights Act. What have you got to lose. Everybody expects you to let it lay. Let it die. Not act on it. I mean that's been your modus operandi for five years now.

Flip the script. Do something to remind Black people that you once were the party of Lincoln. Call a meeting with the NAACP. Invite the Revs Al, Jesse and TD. Talk about millions of brownie points. Man, just think of all the Clarence Thomas wannabes or little Herman Cains or Mia Loves who will come popping out of the woodwork to join the Grand Old Party and become bonified Republicans instead of closeted ones. Give us a reason to like you and to wanna be you. You need to come out of your shell, John, and teach poor people how to make money like republicans. But you can't teach unless you can get them to listen to you. And that is not gonna happen as long as you guys continue to play bigot monopoly in America.

Let's just talk plain English here. You guys are dying out. Your party of old white people is about to go extinct. Soon it will be too late, especially given the kind of laws you're attempting to push through against women. Women already outnumber you. Women are the sleeping giant, the 600 pound gorilla in the room taking a nap. What happens when women wake up. I mean really wake up and realize they don't have to vote like their husbands or daddies do anymore. What happened overnight in Texas should have scared you to death.  Smart guys like you think you all are, would dump the stupid anti-woman language and laws asap. Smart guys would announce that you're going to rewrite the VRA law and make it current, just like the Court said to do.

The announcement alone would make a lot of folks happy. Following through might win you the next election or at least make you more competitive than you appear now. Why not try it?

What have you really got to lose?

John since you're from the Nati, too, you're very familiar with the phrase “when pigs fly.” Well, I figure you'll read this and act on my suggestions when Porkie takes off from Lunken.

Have a great day Mr. Speaker because I think  your days are numbered whether you act or not.

Respectfully yours.

Health Care Law-Let's Talk About it

Well, the three days of Supreme Court arguments are over, and I wish I felt optimistic about the outcome, but frankly, I'm nervous. The deck has been stacked against we the people from jump and it wouldn't surprise me one bit to see this court throw out the Affordable Health Care Law entirely.

Take for example, the individual mandate clause, which has been the main point of contention. The GOP and its teabagger mini-mes refused to even consider it when the measure, now law, was being argued on Capital Hill.

That was particularly strange since it was conceived by the GOP think tank, The Heritage Foundation and promoted by every GOP legislator, including three of the four currently running for president, prior to 2008. One of them named Mitt actually wrote it into his health care law when he was governor of Massachusetts.

You would think that when Barack Obama embraced this singularly conservative republican idea, that the GOP would have happily supported him in the bi-partisan manner of governance.

Did they? Hell no! They've been fighting it ever since President Obama said it was a good idea for the people. Makes ya think, it is not about the law, it's about the Black man in the White House.

And now, it is at the Supreme Court. A Supreme Court where one justice and his wife are actually on the payroll of that same Heritage Foundation, which has argued vigorously in favor of throwing out the individual mandate because it now says its “baby” is unconstitutional.

Question....if the individual mandate is unconstitutional today...why was it not unconstitutional when it was a republican idea?

It's a sure bet that Justice Clarence will do his dirty work behind the scenes because as has become typical, Thomas has not opened his mouth in open court these past few days. If the Justices do strike down the law, Thomas will have earned his tainted lucre.

I'm sure wifey-poo Ginny will be so proud of her man.

So what happens if the Affordable Health Care Law is struck down? Do the Repubs have a plan?

Well, no they don't. Not one of them who has taken to the airwaves to call for the law to be struck down have a plan. They just want it gone.

If it does go...

So does allowing parents to cover their kids on their insurance until aged 26.

So does coverage for children and people with pre existing conditions...insurance will once again be allowed to deny coverage.

So does the Medicaid expansion that was to be used to give health coverage to the 45-million people who don't have it.

So does the mandate requiring insurance companies to use most of the money collected from premiums to go to medical costs for consumers.

So does free contraception, birth control and other preventive services for women.

So do the mandates requiring restaurants and food companies to tell us what it is they put in our food.

Striking down Affordable Health Care means that men can still buy viagra or ciallis....

It means that Congressmen will still have their health care without penalty.

It means that the insurance companies and the drug companies, for that matter will not be reined in on cost, which will go up and up unregulated.

SUPCO has promised to issue its ruling in late June.

I'm not holding my breath.

Questions........

Isn't it time to boycott CBS? Since when is airing an anti abortion ad okay during the Superbowl? If it does air, shouldn't there be equal time for a Trojan ad or Yaz ad? Because you know somewhere in that mix...a Viagra ad is going to pop up, too...but male virility is a right in America, while women's fertility rights are the subject of debate...

If Sarah Palin is a “real American” and Scott Brown is a “traditional American” What are the rest of us?

Is it just me...or is Scott Brown just a cuter version of Joe the plumber?

Why are the people who voted in Massachusetts seen as speaking for the rest of the country? Ask us how we feel, please...

If Democrats out number Republicans 59-41 in the Senate and 256-179 in the House...then why is Obama acting like passing health care reform, or anything else for that matter, is suddenly up in the air? Isn't a majority still a majority? Ditto for DOMA, and marriage equality..

Leaving marriage equality to the states is like asking slave owners if they want to let go of their slaves and work their own fields. Didn't work for Lincoln...won't work for Obama, either...

If Obama wants us to coalesce around the “good parts” of his plan, then let's drop the age limit on Medicare and give America what our congressmen already have. Why can't we have what you got?

If we can't have health care reform, then I want something back from Congress...like maybe cancel the ability to automatically give themselves a raise each and every year....2009 raise was 4700-dollars per congressman...or cancel their health care and live like the rest of us..

On the question of jobs...isn't it about time to think about bringing back the WPA?

Reforming Wall Street is only good if it forces the banks to let go of the money they've been sitting on

-0-

The Supco ruling on campaign finance reveals the real damage done by the GOP...really activists judges installed throughout the federal level of the court system..and they are all lifetime appointments....we're reaping what they sowed...

-0-

I hear the White House is trying to figure out ways to make Uganda cancel the law that calls for execution of anyone caught being gay or lesbian....I've got a suggestion.....cancel all the money we're giving them...now....that's a wake up call they will hear...

And by the way...the Bill's sponsor is coming to America to the National Prayer Breakfast at the invitation of several so called Christian Evangelists...including Rick Warren, who are behind this heinous piece of legislation.....Obama is supposed to be at this breakfast.....

Trust me, O, this is really, really not a good move on your part.....

-0-

Did you know the NAACP has nominated Michael Jackson's funeral for an Image Award? Isn't it time to cancel this useless and outdated organization, since they refuse to deal with real issues or recognize and deal with 21st century problems....like AIDS in the Black Community...Black on Black crime....Black male unemployment...out of wedlock babies...Black school dropouts...no Black in college..too depressing to go on...

-0-

Some dude down in Augusta Georgia is starting an all white basketball league..only players who can prove they have two Caucasian parents and are native born Americans can play...No foreign whites need apply either...The league founder says he is tired of street ball as played by Blacks in the NBA and want s to bring the game back to the more fundamentally sound white guys like it used to be played...

First off.....Caucasian is not a race...does not exist

Second.....the early “white” players who excelled in basketball...were Jewish...can they play in this league?

Third......In this mixing pot called America...how is he going to prove who is pure white in the first place? A DNA test? All that will prove is that we all originated in Africa...making us all Africans under the skin and an all white league a genetically impossible situation.. ..

You know....I wish these racists weren't so dumb and would go back to school...it's getting too easy...way to easy...

So If I understand the GOP conservatives ranting about Obama’s choice for the Supreme Court...

All of the White Men Chosen by the other white men who occupied the White House...were selected for the High Court solely based on their qualifications and no other reason...

Yet...

The Women on the Court....The Blacks on the Court and the nominees chosen by the Black man in the White House are selected only because of their color and gender....not because of their qualifications or measurably high intelligence for doing the job...

So this must mean.....

That only White men are qualified?! Intelligent enough?! Temperamentally suited to be nominated for high court or other high office in America....

In whose world?

The self proclaimed masters of the universe have collectively lost their fuckin’ minds..

All pretense has been kicked to the curb...

they are revealed for what they are and what every minority in this country has known our entire life.....the GOP is made up of bigoted, racist men who hate everybody who isn’t white and doesn’t have a natural dick...

whether it functions naturally or not....

Women...white, black or otherwise are for having babies...

whites for making more masters..........

Black women and otherwise women...for making babies for fun that they don’t have to support or acknowledge....unless they get caught after the fact...

then they say "yeah" I’m her daddy...all that segregationist talk was just talk...I didn’t really mean it....Does this mean I can still go to heaven when I die?"

Boys...young and nubile are for sex and discard, when the sex is over....again acknowledged after they get caught...."but I’m not gay....I’m just confused..."

Their offspring...allowed to flaunt their homosexuality covered by the privilege of wealth and Daddy’s power...While Daddy relegates the rest of us to second class citizenship...

or

Following in Daddy’s footsteps of multiple Military deferments while others go to war...

Our offspring....targeted to fight and die in illegal wars.....4500 troops....and who knows how many suicides did not have to die.....totally unnecessary deaths of kids who could have been doing other things like...living and raising their own kids....

I could go farther...but I’m pissed...too pissed to pursue this dangerous line of thought..so I will move on...

What can I say about a young black cop, cut down in the prime of life by another cop..a white man...who rather than ask a simple questions...opened fire...

It’s in the Daily News today.....The rookie cop was off duty...saw a carjacking....chased the suspect with his service revolver in hand in Harlem....

Three undercover cops saw the one man chasing another.... The three Id’ed themselves as the rookie turned toward them...one cop opened fire...got off six rounds...killed the rookie cop before he was able to ID himself.......

Isn’t it funny how this story did not make national news on the morning shows today?

-0-

Or that blonde bitch who went to Disneyland after stealing a million dollars from her employer...tried to cover by claiming to be jacked by two black men in a cadillac....

Still think we live in a post racial world.............Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm!

Thank You, Clarence Thomas

The United States Supreme Court takes up the issue of President elect, Barack Obama’s citizenship on Friday, thanks to Justice Clarence Thomas. Thomas has submitted a previously dismissed lawsuit filed in New Jersey for a conference of justices.

Back in November, Leo Donofrio filed suit against New Jersey’s Secretary of State, Nina Wells, seeking to stop the presidential election. A lower court threw out the suit. It was re-filed and Supreme Court Justice David Souter dismissed it. Read here.

Well, not to be out done, Mr. Donofrio took his petition to Justice Clarence Thomas, who apparently figures the suit has some merit, so he has taken it to a conference, where all the justices will sit down and decide whether or not to hear the case. That is what is happening tomorrow.

In addition, supporters of the many lawsuits that have been filed seeking to overturn’s Obama’s election will gather on the steps of the Supreme Court to show support and to demand action.

Most of the lawsuits, as I have written before, are challenging Obama’s birth certificate as well as his birth in Hawaii, despite the fact that the state says he is a citizen, legally born in the United States. Click here to read interview with suit filer Alan Keyes. Suits have also been filed in Hawaii, Illinois, California, Kentucky and Ohio, Pennsylvania as well as the aforementioned New Jersey.

Donofrio vs Wells challenges Obama’s apparent dual citizenship as a violation of the United States Constitution. While Obama’s mother is American, his Kenyan father, reportedly had British citizenship.

I asked a legal expert friend of mine who also happens to be a retired Federal Judge, to explain what could happen tomorrow. I was told that an emergency review of Donofrio was already in progress and that the Justices could order an emergency stay of the electoral college vote slated for December 15th. They could call for oral arguments. Or the justices could simply rule in Donofrio’s favor and order penalties levied for the violations. Could the Justices overturn the election? Yes, they could.

My friend also thinks that the Justices hearing Donofrio vs Wells has about a snowball’s chance in hell. But you never know.

Maybe SUPCO likes affecting elections, now that they've done it once..How about another?

Ya think?

Like a Dog with a Bone

The FCC and the Justice Department, just won’t let go. The Foolish Communications Commission and the US Department of Jakeleg Justice has taken nipplegate to the United States Supreme Court. The FCC wants SUPCO to drop everything and overturn a lower court decision which threw out the half million dollar fine against CBS network, levied following the superbowl performance of Janet Jackson and Justin Timberlake. You can read about it here.

The lower court ruled back in July that the FCC had lost its mind and gone all the way crazy trying to protect folks from the so called morally debasing performance of Ms. Jackson and Mr. Timberlake. Especially since the problem part of the several minute song and dance lasted just 9/16th of one second. Click here to refresh your memory.

I don’t understand the FCC’s rabid pursuit of this one incident, when there are hundreds of other incidents that can be pursued daily. Things that routinely come out of the mouths of broadcasters with names like Cunningham, Limbaugh, Savage, Quinn, Hannity, O”Reilly to name a few, who are hellbent on slandering or destroying anyone or anything that does not fit their definition of America.

Bill Cunningham, in particular galls me because he hails from my neck of the woods and because I one time considered him a friend. But the things coming out of his mouth these days, makes me wonder about my own sanity in remembering that we had at least broken bread as fellow reporters chasing the same stories back in the 70s. I met Cunningham when he worked as a radio reporter for WCKY, before and during the time he went to law school. I worked at the same time for 55-KRC/Q102 AM & FM. We were rivals, yes, but friendly rivals. There was no hint of the vitriol that he spews now. A lady named Nancy Clark was the main street reporter for CKY, but Cunningham hit the streets regularly, too. All reporters know every other reporter in their city. We spent more than enough time together as rivals to know each other’s personality. I’m truly surprised. Click here for more.

The FCC is another one of those government agencies run amok within the Bush Administration these past eight years. Among the many first things that our new president needs to do is to rein in these idiots by taking back the so called morality protection mandate handed them by Dubya and company. As for SUPCO, well, it has better things to do then to contemplate the fleeting glance of a superstar’s pastie covered left breast.

Another Uppity Black Man?! HA!

When pigs fly! That’s what we say in Cincinnati when bullshit floats to the surface...When pigs fly...
Clarence Thomas...Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas calls himself an “uppity black man.” If he is uppity, then I need to change my name to Angela or Harriet or Sojourner. If he’s uppity, I need to buy a gun to protect myself from coming lynch parties that routinely materialize when “uppity blacks” speak their minds.

Uppity? Clarence Thomas wouldn’t know “Uppity” if it bit him in the ass...excuse my disrespect, please. I try to give respect to all human beings, but only if you earn it...and don’t twist your mouth around to say stupid shit like that....The term “uppity” has to be earned...you can’t self proclaim that, fool!

Let me give you some examples of “uppity” black folks.......Muhammed Ali, he refused to be drafted to go to Vietnam and got stripped of his heavyweight title.

Mike Tyson is an uppity black man...does anything and everything he wants, good or bad..he is also very very crazy...

Barack Obama is an uppity black man...he dares to run for the White House.....You want conservative black uppityness...try Alan Keyes...another crazy MF...but definitely uppity..

Justice Thurgood Marshall was an uppity black man...Bill Cosby is uppity...

RuPaul is uppity and very very fashionable!

Hell, even P Diddy or whatever the hell he calls himself these days is uppity...How about Ice T, Ice Cube, Wesley Snipes, and lord don’t let us forget Danny Glover..

Uppity? How about Whoopie Goldberg on the distaff side? How about Angela Bassett..

How about any black person who dares to speak out against the system called America and pays a price....Can you say Eartha Kitt?

Malcolm, Martin, Eldridge....I’m just sticking with the uppity names you know..there are countless others who have gone so far as to have given their lives in anonymity because they were “uppity.”

I’ve read Thomas’ book...I’ve read the books about Thomas...I’ve watched Thomas from jump...all the way from his nomination by Daddy Bush...through Anita Hill...and all his years to date, on the Supreme Court....

Uppity? No!

How about ego driven, under achiever with a huge chip on his shoulder, who is very obviously mad at the world.

As we say in the ghetto...”A brother’s got some issues that need working out..”:

Try love and honesty with self first, Mr. Thomas...then maybe all that uppityness will one day really shine through....

Still Second Class

One step forward, two steps back....The Supreme Court, driven by its conservative male members, continues to dictate to women what they do with their bodies. The decision to uphold the federal ban on partial birth abortions was 5-4...Roberts, Alito, Thomas, Scalia and Kennedy voting in the majority.

I guess women and their doctors will have to check with their congressman before scheduling a procedure to protect their own health. Guys, you still have carte blanche to do what ever you want with your body. Go ahead, pop another viagra and celebrate.
