Friday Rap-Election Week Postmortem Edition

Well, the mid terms are over and just when I think America has broken out of the groundhog loop and righted the ship, they fall backward again.

I mean how many times, do we have to repeat this loop before people realize that repeating crazy results in crazy.

It's not as bad as it seems, except maybe here in Ohio, where now we have rich men in power, again determined to keep an already backward state in the dark ages of transportation and education, among other things.

Kasich returns this time to the governor's office, thanks to his wall street friends and he has signaled that he is not going to allow anyone else to grow, starting with dismantling the progress that outgoing Ted Strickland began.

Every single “new guy” elected this cycle was in Congress when Dubya and company trashed this country. Every single one of them....Kasich....Portman...Chabot....Boehner...and Schmidt...

Every single one of them a professional politician...the very ones who destroyed Congress..

These are all old establishment white guys whose only concern is keeping power. If they really and truly had a clue or a solution...We, as a country would not be in the trouble that we're in today.

You voted for them...this is what you got.....All of them are against anything LGBT...All of them are against affirmative action and civil rights equality of minorities.....All of them want to privatize social security......All of them favor dismantling the Department of Education and Veteran's Administration, despite claiming to support our troops, which they all voted to send to Bush's illegal wars....This is the way they voted the last time they had power...and as for women...well....barefoot and pregnant and not in the workforce is their preference for us...

Time to take your medicine Ohio...open your mouth...or maybe I should say....bend over....

Michael has a new album coming out next month and typical of  MJ, there is controversy with his friends and family saying the voice is not his, but that of a sound alike.

Personally, I think Michael's diggin' it. He transitioned like Obi Wan when the Jedi allowed his student to “kill” him and as a result strengthened the force. Considering how much money Michael has made since he became one with the force, he is probably very happy and finally content.

May be an intersexual...or sources allegedly close to the testing have told a couple of foreign newspapers..Today, I am questioning those reports as accurate....primarily because...of the terms that the sources are using...Hermaphrodite is not the au currant term these days....It's Intersexed..

In the meantime these “sources” say she has organs for both men and women. The sports governing group says since she didn't cheat, she may get to keep her medals, but they still have studying to do and that will take a few more weeks...

The downside is that she may never be allowed to compete again, because she is too strong to go against women, yet not man enough to go against men...

There is an upside to all of this controversy....the girl is happy with who she is...the world seems to be happy that she is happy...and that is a good thing....no one wants her stripped of her medals or hurt anymore by this mess...

This little piss-ant apparently has a long history of letting his mouth get his behind in trouble...seems way back when, when the world got wind of racist Strom Thurmond's black daughter...Wilson attacked the daughter....Essie Washington....as disrespecting a fine upstanding and respectable Congressman that was the segregationist Thurmond.....All Essie said to disrespect the man was....”yes, he is my father.”

Thurmond supported Essie his entire life....just kept her hidden....to keep his buddies from stripping him of his KKK membership...

Wilson, like many of his modern day fellow republicans has a problem with black-white love or sex...especially when it begets babies who may someday grow up to be president...

I particularly take offense to the good scholar's statements of “I'm 75% white,” etc....as if that means something...

Any Black person born in America can make that statement, thanks to slavery, miscegenation , rape, and passing...

We know this thanks to Gates' genealogy activities and studies...We've all got white blood in us...

Swine Flu

Many of you weren't around in 1976, the last time we had a chicken little, “sky is falling” moment with an epidemic....

Our government, which screws up medications when they have plenty of time to get it right...are now trying to stampede the public into getting vaccinations for this upcoming swine flu pandemic...

The vaccine has just been created, they think... and is about to be tested....

Back in 1976...we faced a similar situation.....they rushed out a vaccine.......

More people died directly from getting the vaccine...then the flu bug....the pandemic fizzled...was much ado about nothing....

I will be honest....I'm part of one of those high risk groups and should according to them..get the vaccine....

However....the question is....Do I trust our government....

Short answer......No!

Will I get the vaccine?

Because they have Black children? Does that somehow make them less caucasian?

Funny how nobody tears up their white privilege card for adopting dusky hued babies, while at the same time stomping all over Michael Jackson's grave because he made some white babies to raise.

Why does Michael Jackson having white children make him less Black or African American?

Another question....why is it that white people still think they can tell us what is Black or what defines African American?

They keep trying to convince us that we now live in a post racial world....that the “one drop” rule has been repealed....

So why are they still questioning Michael's Blackness?

In Michael's case, we Blacks, have obviously done it for ourselves... we defined him...just as we did it for OJ and every other successful Black sports figure-entertainer-business entrepreneur-government official, who steps outside the race to sleep, cheat on his/her wife with, or to make babies with.

The dominant culture can talk about him and everyone else...anyway they want...but we will define who is Black...or who is a leader...or who speaks for us....

I know, I know...Tom, Angelina and Madonna are seen as rescuing members of the underclass, bringing them up to their standard of living...civilizing the young ones...enabling them to take their place in polite...read that....dominate society.

They are viewed through the prism of white privilege as modern day missionaries bringing religion to the savages.

Michael Jackson having white kids is seen as a perversion of the norm...It is a step down, rather than a step up.

Face it, we live in a world where designer babies are being created for designed families...it is becoming the norm...

Don't get me wrong....I have a real problem with what he did to his face....In my mind I see and will remember the face of the very talented Black man I came to love a long time ago. That man who lives in my memory does not resemble the stringy long haired white woman that he turned himself into...

And like many Blacks, I grew up around people with vitiligo and I feel in my bones that his excuses for changing skin colors were bullshit...But they were his reasons and his excuses...and oh well....

It never did make sense....but in my mind it didn't make him any less of a Black man...to me..

It just meant he went to his grave without solving his issues...we all have issues....

I know that sounds crazy...but then we are all what we feel inside....and Michael...despite how he looked...never felt like anything other than a Black man...and furthermore...never said he was anything other than a Black man, either.

Going Naked-Going Green

Some nudist group is recommending that everyone start taking nude vacations as a way of reducing our carbon footprints and thereby saving the earth...

The worst thing about having my sister and her kids move in with me, a few years ago was having to give up walking around the house in the nude....I sleep that way and had to remember to cover up out of respect for my family members..

It can be loaded with fat....It can be loaded with sugar....It can be loaded with nuts and chocolate and come drowning in caramel....It can be surrounded by fruit in a boat...it can be piled high on a cone, melting so fast that I have to lick the back of my hand to get it all in my mouth...

But....Healthy or light....as in ice cream with green tea or granola or wheat grass..... with half the calories....give me a break......you keep that S***...

Word that Obama is going to help Mexico battle the drug cartels on the border...Seems to me that the best way to do this is to simply end the failed war on drugs....

Admit that some people are going to use, no matter what....

Legalize the market, just like liquor stores, tax with user tax, controlled from state store...

the war on drugs is another failed program that has gone on for way too long...Prohibition war on alcohol is the precedent....it didn't work then...it's not working now...

legalizing the market....immediately stops the violence at the border and in the neighborhoods...

legalizing the market....can work with the planned revisions in health care in America...revise everything in health care toward prevention, rather that penalty for illness...because addiction is illness...not crime...

Off to See the Wizards

Here I am halfway thru my fifth decade and I never knew that Judy Garland's Wizard of Oz was a remake of a remake and that The Wiz with Diana Ross was a remake of a remake of a remake.

Wiz number one was a 13 minute short made in 1910. The second one came about in 1925. Both were in black and white and were silent. The 1925 version had a black man in it as one of the main characters. It also had Oliver Hardy without Stan Laurel.

All of the films manage to hit the high points of the L. Frank Baum story. But Toto has a much bigger role in the 1910 version. He is actually transformed by Glinda into a big dog protector of Dorothy. In fact, he's about as big as the lion. And there is a donkey and a cow along with the tin man and scarecrow. The movie also ends without Dorothy returning home, something of a mystery. I like the cyclone in the 1910 version too. It was a haystack that was lifted with Dorothy, the cow, donkey and scarecrow inside it and twirled in front of painted paper that was supposed to be scenery.

I watched all of the versions on Turner Classic Movies back to back starting with the 1939 Judy Garland version. It still has the most impact on me, I guess because It imprinted itself on my psyche when I was so young. When I was small, it was only shown once a year, around Easter and we watched it as a family.

The Wiz came about when I was older, in 1978. Never liked Diana Ross but I loved Michael Jackson and Nipsey Russell. I had already seen the stage version by then too.

To my mind Stephanie Mills was the only Dorothy, the true successor to Judy Garland, and the only one who can sing the song "HOME.."
