Priesse and Akin, Too Many Dumb Asses, Not Enough Time

I am so tired...bigots and the chronically ignorant, drive me up a wall and this week, we've got several from which to choose.

Spent the past couple of days dealing with the idiot from Missouri, Todd Akin, who apparently doesn't understand how pregnancy works, nor the difference between having sex and being raped.

Akin exposed for the clueless,  the general consensus thinking of the entire GOP. in that women can only get pregnant when they want to. Therefore they don't need contraception nor fertility help. It's all inside our body, just like those transvaginal probes they've been dying to stick into our birth canals. It's also up to government to protect idjit, and naive men from bad women who also routinely lie about pregnancy and how it comes about, thus entrapping the poor unsuspecting males with false claims of rape and paternity.

The GOP platform, Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan, will officially assume these ignorant positions next week during the Republican convention in Tampa.

At last word, Akin is continuing his run for the United States Senate, to which I can only say...please...please....send this fool packin!

While all this hoopla was going on nationally, here in Ohio, one of John boy Kasich's minions stuck his foot into his mouth, revealing the racism festering inside the State Capital.

Said Doug Priesse and Kasich advisor in an email to the Columbus Dispatch newspaper, about lengthening early voting hours to accommodate those who prefer to vote before the election;

I guess I really actually feel we shouldn’t contort the voting process to accommodate the urban — read African-American — voter-turnout machine.”-Doug Priesse

And with that stupidity tripping off his lips, Priesse shut down weekend early voting in Ohio. Statistics show early voting is a tool Blacks use to vote, since most are working during business hours, the only time to vote is on the weekends.

However, Kasich and his boys know that Blacks ain't necessarily turning out for his boy Mitt Romney, so they had to figure out other ways to suppress the vote. They came up with this one after other voter suppression methods were exposed and halted. It should be noted that Doug Priesse, in addition to being Kasich's chief advisor, is also head of the Ohio Republican Party.

The Ohio GOP has a history of voter suppression. You will recall the efforts of homeboy Ken Blackwell, who among other things stooped so low as to demand that only a certain type of paper could be used for ballots. It had to weigh a certain amount or it couldn't be counted. He did this while Secretary of State of Ohio. And of course, this was after he managed to “disappear” more than 200,000 black votes in Cleveland to give Bush the election in 2000. Blackwell attempted to screw with the vote in 2004 as well.

The GOP knows it can't win an election outright if people turn out to vote, so they do everything in their power to steal elections and they've gotten good at it, too.

The thing these two dumb asses have in common is that they exposed what is general thinking inside their party. They don't see anything wrong with what they did or said. It was just business as usual for the Republicans machine. The republican machine was not happy about being exposed, but again, they don't understand the error of their ways.

Vote responsibly in November

Ohio Voter ID Purge

And we thought we'd won, when we got rid of Ken Blackwell. Well, not so fast.  Governor Kasich and company have come up with another plan designed to rig the vote for the GOP in Ohio, that is in addition to the gerrymandering of congressional districts that has already taken place.

Ever heard of the SYSTEMATIC ALIEN VERIFICATION FOR ENTITLEMENTS  Program?

Neither had I. And no, it's not a program to ensure that those chest bursting aliens last seen in the Alien movies never get to earth.

It's called SAVE for short, and it is a database filled with information on immigrants, those people who come to this country from other countries to live and work, created and kept by the Department of Homeland Security.

What does this have to do with us born and bred citizens?

Well some states in their efforts to uncover and eliminate voter fraud, have demanded access to SAVE, and it doesn't matter that SAVE was never designed to verify voter eligibility.

Voters in America are overwhelmingly not immigrants to this country. Voters are born here most of the time, like 99 and 44-hundreds % of the time.

Yet, this is what several states, including mine, the great State of Ohio, are intending to use SAVE for-to verify voter eligibility for the upcoming elections in November and beyond,

Voter ID fraud is virtually non existent in America. It is a witch hunt conducted by the right wing extremist driven Republican party in an effort to ensure their candidates an unfair advantage at the polls.

Recently,   GOP officials are on record admitting that the sole purpose of all the new voter ID laws as well as other new programs being created is  to rig the vote against Democrats-to keep blacks and minorities from voting.

Translate that, to get Romney elected President.

Voter ID fraud is so non existent in America that statistically speaking, you could be hit by lightning twice, before you could find a case of voter ID fraud anywhere except in the minds of the extremists on the right.

Now they want to use,  are even demanding to use SAVE to help root out a non existent crime. Wouldn't that be considered harassment? Doesn't that smack of Jim Crow discrimination?

Well, get ready, because our stupid ass government is going to allow it. This would be a great time to forgo politics and just say “no.” But au contraire, it's going to happen.

As I said before, there are 14 states looking to use SAVE and officials have openly stated their purpose is to emulate the flawed voter roll purge recently done in Florida, that saw legitimate voters taken off the rolls.

The SAVE database contains no information on American citizens born inside the US. Records show that the vast majority, nearly 100% of voters come from this group.

Immigrants don't even try to vote. They may try for driver's license, but voting...not happening.

But you'd never know this if you listen to the cat shit crazy right wing. More than 24 million Americans face harassment from the right if the SAVE database is used for voter ID fraud purposes, and you can bet that most of those who will be harassed are black or brown people, who fit the “profile” of the right's idea of a voter fraud criminal.

Full disclosure here, the process did turn up 2-you heard me-2, non citizens out of 3000 possibles in Florida who voted. It also turned up 500 people who were challenged and slated for purging, but who are legit voters.

They just happen to fit the right's profile of fake voters, read that minority democratic voting voters.

The other States being granted access to SAVE are, Alaska, Arkansas, Arizona, Georgia, Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, New Mexico, Ohio, Utah, Colorado and Washington, in addition to Florida
Ohio says it will use SAVE along with other tools to identify non citizen voters. Georgia says it plans to use SAVE to verify new voters as they register to vote.
The GOP can't win the election based on truth. They must steal it, like back in 2000 or change the rules like what's happening now, in order to get their man put into the oval office.
Can you say President Romney if we don't turn out and vote?

Friday Rap...

Today would be a good day for President Obama to issue an executive order suspending "Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell.."

Doing it today would save the job of an Arab fluent linguist who also happens to be gay. He’s been informed by the military that he is going to lose his job because he outed himself on television....

Losing an Arab fluent linguist while we’re fighting two wars in the middle east is like cutting off your nose to spite your face...or like sending soldiers to war with no guns...isn’t it time we get serious and fight like we mean it....like we really intend to do something other than steal oil from the people who own it?

Question......Are the NAACP and Black Ministers Organizations (all of them) Relevant in the 21st century....Or should they go the way of the dinosaurs, pass out of existence and make way for something new?

These organizations still display a mindset that was good for 1959...but is not pertinent to 2009...

These groups will not get their audience back until they start addressing today’s issues.....HIV/AIDS, Black on Black Crime, neighborhood violence, People not taking responsibility for their kids and their education, Homophobia against Black gays and lesbians....

My sister recently pointed out that the only segregated church in America these days is the traditional Black Church.....think about it....

The mega churches Black or White led.....preach wealth and how to get more.....not religion or sacrifice for the greater good.....

Speaking of Mega Churches....is TD Jakes still talking about the LGBT community and Muslims in negative terms...now that his son has been busted in the park with another man?....Just askin'

Did you know....that the Bible talks about no less than eight forms of marriage.....so which one is the traditional one that conservatives keep yelling about....

And....if Separation of Church and State is mandated and codified in the Constitution, why is Religion allowed to dictate secular law...

Most of the founding fathers of this country were known to be Atheists afraid of what happens when religion decides law....

Because the truth of the matter is.....America never was formed to be a Christian nation...not legally...

It was formed to enable freedom of religion and also freedom from religion....

Finally...If the LGBT community has the same rights as everybody else...then why is gay marriage a debatable issue....

Under our system and our constitution....getting married is just another civil right...that some are being denied...making the denial...a violation of law...

BTW....Will somebody please grab Pat Robertson....Sounds like he forgot to take his meds again...While you're at it.....check James Dobson, too....He's sounding like a human being today..Amazing...

The City Manager is in favor of privatizing Cincinnati’s Water Works ....Not A Good Idea....

Despite what government tells us...rates will go up dramatically...and when the stuff hits the fan....they won’t be there to protect us.....

Think I’m wrong....look at the rate increases since Duke Energy took over Cinergy....

Look at what is happening with Time Warner....why can’t Cincinnati make the city a hot spot for wi fi from city limit to city limit.....

Water, Air, Electricity, Food....the stuff needed for survival... should never be allowed in the hands of anyone with more loyalty to its stock holders than to its customers...the people....

It’s time to think about ways to get off this expensive grid.....

How about stimulus money to make all city homes solar powered....we don’t really need a trolley system.......

Give me a grant....I’m willing to be a guinea pig on this....Avondale should be solar powered....

There is a drum beat that some Blacks in the community are trying to persuade the Black Community to vote Republican in the next mayoral election....

Good luck with that!

The alleged Black pup..er..people who are doing the talking sound like the GOP of 1980 rather than a new GOP...You know the old GOP powered by divisiveness, racism, and old white guys in the closet saying do as I say...not as I do....

The only difference is they have new Black guys mouthing the same old words....

Buy a clue....GOP...Chocolate or otherwise.....until your actions match the words coming out your mouth.......you won’t have many converts to your party......

Do I need to break it down....

28 year old Ken Blackwell/Charlie Winburn wannabes don’t work......

Attacking a popular Black Mayor with innuendo while he’s hustling his butt off to make the city better...successful or not...he’s working...not talking....don’t work....

GOP choosing a mayoral candidate who looks like old GOP candidates and likes Tea Parties...which overtly and racially attack the Black Man in the White House....won’t work...

Black GOP standing by as these attacks happen....what are you thinking....Or do you think your party affiliation will save you....and put something other than chump change in your pocket....don’t kid yourself...

And quiet as its kept.....losing General Colin Powell in the past election did more damage to the GOP than Barack Obama himself....

You wanna get somebody's attention...emulate Powell....not Michael Steele...Charlie Winburn.... or Ken Blackwell....

Even JC Watts went into hiding when these current Limbaugh Lemmings, who now run the GOP took over....

Think about it the next time you open your mouth and before your foot flies upward...

Questions I Need Answered...

1. Why is Bush still in office? In light of these extraordinary circumstances that we're living now, why don’t we just buy out his contract and officially sideline him?

Better yet, why don’t we impeach him? If we can impeach a president for getting his swerve on in the oval office with an intern and lying about it, why are we not pursuing the war crimes allegations against Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld and Ashcroft? They lied to start their war. They’ve attempted to gut the US Constitution. They’ve literally trashed America economically. There are so many grounds, yet only Dennis Kucinich is working to make it happen.

Nancy Pelosi should be handed her head for refusing to pursue the matter. Now it looks like Bush may be working up to pardoning his cronies in crime. The question lingers...can he also pardon himself? And will he?

2. Will wall street CEOs really forego their bonuses this year as Obama has asked? I doubt it. They have stashed so much cash that they don’t have to live in the real world anymore.

3. Who broke Ann Coulter’s jaw? Reports are flying that her mouth is wired shut because of some undisclosed accident...To quote Sofia from The Color Purple.....

”day is a gawd!”

4. What is Mike Huckabee smoking? He says the LGBT community is not being physically brutalized, or getting it’s head bashed in like blacks, therefore gays have no argument. Hmmmm I wonder if he is willing to say that to the faces of the families of all the young men and women who have been killed this year alone, for no other reason than their classmates’ or neighbors’ perception that they are gay? How many transgenders have to die before Huckabee and his ilk understand that there is a problem in this country....LGBT hate crimes are kind of like black on black crime...invisible and not important to “real world America.”

5. Still with Mike HuckaBuck...What’s he snorting along with the smoke? Hucky also says that California prop 8 did not ban gay marriage. He says it simply strengthens the traditional definition of marriage.

6. Why is Ken Blackwell returning to relevance? Don’t republicans understand that he is part of the problem?

7. Are there any black republicans left in the party beside Blackwell, and Michael Steele? And does the Goofy Ole Party really think that installing a black chairman will bring blacks rushing back to the party of Lincoln?

8.With everyone celebrating our suddenly post racial society..why is the main stream media still virtually an all white entity at the top and at night? Seems that one black face usually in a back up role...as in “good evening, I’m_____________ and, so and so is off tonight.” is enough.

9. Why aren’t black women comedians considered good enough or versatile enough to work on Saturday Night Live?

10. How can anyone even consider claiming that Prince is homophobic. I mean, girlfriend has more high heels, make up and booty-out pants than I have owned in my entire life, please. Leave him alone!

11. WTF? Gossip site, Media Take Out is reporting that Whitney and Bobbie are getting remarried. I guess the album ain’t comin’ out is it?

12. Why don’t people just chill with the second guessing of our president elect? We trusted enough to vote for him....Please, let him get into office, before we try to cut him off at his knees, or build statutes in his honor. He’s got to go to work first..

Blue Cincinnati

364 people living in my neighborhood, voted for John McCain for president over Barack Obama. That number surprised me when I first saw it, but then again, I do live near two major universities. So maybe some of their out of town students cast votes to make their dads happy, and/or to show solidarity for those black republicans who still stand shoulder to shoulder with Ken Blackwell.

5427 people, including me, cast votes for Barack. 55% of Avondale turned out to vote this past Tuesday. And that was only a 2.3% increase of voters over 2006. That’s not a huge difference in turnout, when you think about it.

The percentage difference is the big number. That 5427 represents 93% of the votes cast going for Obama, while John McCain garnered just 6% of the count. I guess the lost 1% represent the confused.

Evanston went 90% for Obama, while McCain did get 347 votes. McCain got 229 votes in Walnut Hills, which is one of the more diverse neighborhoods in Cincinnati, both ethnically and financially.

95% of Bond Hill went for Obama. 18 people went for McCain in the West End. That was his lowest total inside Cincinnati. It was off set by the 4167 vote that McCain got in Mt. Washington. But he still lost the precinct by 1 percentage point to Obama.

In fact, of the Cincinnati’s 26 wards, only one went for McCain, that was Sedamsville/Saylor Park. And they went big for McCain, 57.8% to 39.5%. The turnout was also down from 2006.

Now outside city limits the vote was reversed, with most suburban areas going for McCain. There were major exceptions, Springfield Township, Lincoln Heights, Forest Park, Woodlawn and Golf Manor.

McCain got 9 votes in Lincoln Heights which is an all black city in Hamilton County. Maybe those votes were die hard black republicans taking a stand. Don’t know.

The total vote for the City of Cincinnati was, 98,864 for Obama, 33,289 for McCain. Percentage wise, that’s 73.5% to 24.9% for Obama. That tally represents a 3.8% increase in voters to the polls.

The burbs went 154,573 for McCain, to 109,938 for Obama. 57.5% to 40.8%...and that represents a 5.5% increase in voters to the polls over 2006.

One thing is for sure, there is still a lot of work to do when it comes to voter turnout. If voters won't turn out for this election, then what will they turn out for?

Voter Fraud = Another GOP Smoke Screen

Every presidential election comes with charges and counter charges about voter fraud pushing the election one way or the other. This campaign is no exception. The sixth circuit court of appeals, here in Cincinnati has ordered Secretary of State Jennifer Brunner to put into place, by this Friday, a program for checking the validity of all newly registered Ohio voters. Newly registered voters total some 666,000 people. The court ruling was in answer to a lawsuit filed against Brunner by the Republican Party, voicing concern about possible voter fraud committed by ACORN registrars. ACORN is a grassroots organization that works to help poor and minorities in dealing with issues from mortgages to registering to vote.

The GOP has been upset for quite a while now at the State because of a law that allows residents to register to vote and then to vote on the same day. The GOP says that’s unconstitutional and opens up the state to all kinds of voter fraud. Well, that window was put into place by Ohio’s GOP governor and GOP controlled government back in 2006. They didn’t seem to have any problem with the window at the time they created it.

Nor did they have a problem with then Secretary of State, Ken Blackwell’s tactics against black and minority voters in 2004 when he played a major part in hijacking the election for Bush. Bush won by 119,000 votes in Ohio. Change just ten votes per precinct and he would’ve lost the presidency.

The Sheriff of Greene County has asked to see all 302 cards of the newly registered in his county, to check for voter fraud. Yet he says he is not trying to intimidate anyone. This is a republican controlled county, as is most of Ohio. Similar harassment techniques are being used in other states that are still up for grabs in this election.

HERE’S A FACT FOR YOU- In the entire United States of America, from 2000 to 2005, there has been exactly one..did ya hear me.....one, proven case of voter fraud....just one.....

All this hyper ventilation by the republican party against ACORN, the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now, is a smoke screen. ACORN is a grass roots advocacy group that works on behalf of poor people. Poor people of the minority kind in particular, don't generally vote republican.

The GOP is talking about faulty registrations, not votes. Faulty registrations are caught before the vote is cast. It may stress out elections officials, but fraud? No.

And usually the faulty registrations were flagged by ACORN, in the first place. They are required to do that, but instead of throwing away the shaky forms, they turn them in with the correctly filled out ones, because they are also required to do that.

Blackwell unveiled the GOP plan a couple of weeks ago in an article in the New York Post in which he compared the alleged ongoing voter fraud to the devastation of a hurricane.

Just like all the other smoke screens thrown up this year, by the GOP and the McCain/Palin campaign, this one is an attempt to divert attention away from the real issues and to confuse the population about the election and the state of the country.

The Republican party, has publicly admitted that campaigning on the issues is not the way to win an election. Confusion and diversion are the tactics that have worked in the past. The public campaign against ACORN is no exception.

Voter Intimidation in Ohio

The Sheriff of Greene County, a republican, has asked for the registration cards of all 302 newly registered voters in his area. Greene County is located in southwest Ohio and is home to several colleges, including historically black , Central State College and Wilberforce University. Wright State, Antioch and Cedarville are also located in this area. Most of the students are thought to lean toward the democrats. Antioch in particular is famously noted for its rebellious, left leaning attitudes.

Sheriff Gene Fischer says he is not politically motivated, he’s just reacting to complaints from his constituents who fear there may be some fraud going on. It should be noted that the Greene County prosecutor who is representing Fischer, is a former law partner of former GOP Senator Mike DeWine, who is chairman of John McCain’s Ohio organization.

The Ohio GOP has been upset, issuing legal challenge after legal challenge against the State’s window allowing voter registration and early voting on the same day. The early voting window was put into place during Republican Bob Taft’s regime in 2006. This is the same regime which installed Ken Blackwell a former Cincinnatian, as Secretary of State. Blackwell is believed to have led the charge in tampering with the 2004 presidential election. After being voted out of office, Blackwell went to work for a GOP conservative think tank. Ohio went to Bush by a mere 118,000 or so votes. The GOP had no problem with it until the new law began to benefit Democrats as well as Republicans.

Brunner says her office will turn over the requested records with the names, telephone numbers and social security numbers blacked out.

Fischer acted yesterday, after a federal judge in Columbus issued a ruling ordering Secretary of State Jennifer Brunner to verify all new registrations against government data bases, specifically, Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles, or Social Security records.

The order was prompted by a lawsuit filed against Brunner by the Ohio Republican Party. Some 666,000 people have registered to vote in this election since the beginning of the year.

The GOP says its just trying to prevent fraud in the upcoming presidential election. The state already makes these checks, but Brunner is appealing the ruling because she says federal law has no recourse if a mismatch is found in the first place.

The GOP claims Brunner is being partisan and doesn’t want to make the checks because to do so would harm Barack Obama’s chances in Ohio.

Enquirer, Blackwell joined at the hip

If there was any doubt in anyone’s mind that the Cincinnati Enquirer was nothing more than a Republican Party Newsletter, that doubt was erased this morning with its endorsement of Ken Blackwell for Governor of Ohio.

The Enquirer admitted that Blackwell is a slease ball...that he has no integrity...that the more honorable candidate is Ted Strickland...yet they endorse Blackwell over Strickland.

Every other newspaper is this state has endorsed Strickland. One newspaper actually endorsed Blackwell and took it back because of his underhanded, vile and vicious tactics used against his opponent. The entire nation has been appalled by what has been coming out of Blackwell's mouth. Even Dubya called him a "nut."

But the mighty Enquirer rails against injustice...it rails against the detractors of Cincinnati, saying the city has changed...it is not racist...it is a good place to live for all people, it says.

Then it turns around and endorses the status quo. Cincinnati has long been the considered the laughing stock of this nation. I guarantee you, that will not change with this endorsement.

So what is this? Does endorsing a black man make the Enquirer look like it’s doing the right thing? That it is looking past color to make a just and correct decision?

This is the same newspaper that just last week took poet Nikki Giovanni to task for calling Blackwell a “political whore.” They slammed her last week, and slammed Blackwell today. But then endorsed him one paragraph later. Go figure.

Tell me who’s the whore now?

I have lived in Cincinnati nearly all my life and it has always, always gone with the republican candidate, no matter what.

The Enquirer has never been a voice of the people. It has proven today that it never will be. The people have spoken.

But it is once again obvious that the Enquirer is not listening.

Blackwell's Rules.....The Attempt to Control the Vote in Ohio

There is something terribly wrong with a system when a candidate for Governor can issue rules governing who can vote in an election. America is not a dictatorship form of government, so how is this happening? Well, it's happening here in Ohio where the Secretary of State is running for governor. And, the Secretary of State is in control of how State elections are conducted. He is the one who makes up the rules of play.

The man in question is Ken Blackwell. He has once again put into place "emergency" regulations that could possibly criminalize the work of voter registration workers. The rules appear to be another blatant attempt to shut down voter registration in Ohio.

Blackwell has a history of these kinds of tawdry tricks on the electorate. In 2004, he instructed county boards of elections to reject any registrations on paper that was the "wrong" paper stock. He backed down under harsh and wide spread criticism. But the order was in place long enough to get some registrations invalidated.

This time around He has come up with a rule that says paid registration workers, and volunteers who collect registrations, must PERSONALLY take the forms they collect to the election office.

Now organizations, like the League of Women Voters, for instance, generally have their volunteers turn in the forms to a supervisor who then takes them to the election office after first reviewing them for errors.

Blackwell's rule would make everyone involved in the exchange a criminal.

Blackwell also says the forms CANNOT be mailed to the election office. That would seem to be a violation of federal elections law.

Blackwell issued these edicts because he feels he has the backing of the Republican Controlled Ohio Legislature.

The moves are a clear grab at power and an attempt to keep the GOP in control of Ohio.

If Blackwell were as honest and as forth right as he wants us to believe then he would have given the election procedures control over to someone who has nothing to gain.

He does not deserve the power with which he has been entrusted.
