9/11 + 10, A Family Conversation

My family has come home for a visit and like always the central meeting point is our parent's family room in front of the television. Some old habits never die because that is where we spent most of our family time growing up, watching a consensus program. In other words it was one we could all stomach at the same time, especially since in those days, we only had one TV.

Most of the time the station played whatever dad wanted, period, and usually what dad wanted was sports.

Today was no exception. We were watching tennis, a Serbian versus a Swiss National, then a Scot versus a Spaniard. But all of us were simply passing time, waiting for Serena, no last name needed, to take the court. We didn't know it, but we had a long wait, because the men played very long, very entertaining matches, well past Serena's scheduled time of entry.

Like always, the conversation bounced around the room. We tend to think alike since we're family. However we, all of us, tend to come to the same conclusions in vastly different ways and this is what makes the conversation so much fun. Never an argument, but always different view points and, yes, times that we agree to disagree. The disagreement always signaled by someone deciding to go help Mom in the kitchen, which meant, they went upstairs to watch reruns of Perry Mason or Cannon with my mother, until they cooled off.

Mom never just sat and watched and talked with the rest of us. She was more “sniper” in her approach. In other words, she would walk to the top of the steps, test the air, launch a volley of thoughts down the stairs toward us, then suck on her teeth to let us know she was done talking and walk back into the kitchen to catch up on her show, totally unconcerned about any blow-back opinion.

Group conversation in my family has always crossed generations with no one being deemed too young or too old. If you could talk, and you had an opinion, then you spoke or jumped into the fray. The young asked questions and sometimes got several answers. It was up to them to sort it out in their/our heads, which sometimes led to off shoot conversations for clarification. Sometimes that clarification amounted to, “don't listen to that fool, he crazy.”

Next to sports, the other favorite topic is current events and politics. The generation of elders prior to this generation was Republican and the talk was exceptionally lively, back in the day. Nothing like an old Black Republican to mess up Sunday dinner. These members have since passed on to that great GOP caucus in the sky. Although I would suspect that based on the composition of today's GOP, if they were still here, my folks would have transitioned into Democrats. But that is only my supposition, based on remembered stances that they periodically took. The current elder generation is Democrat with a heavy dose of anarchist, ready, willing and able to fight, if and when the revolution comes. The conservatives at this time tend to be younger to middlin' in age.

This day was Saturday, September 10th, 2011, and with prompting from the television, our thoughts turned to 9/11, remembering where we were when we heard or saw. For all of us the images in our mind were as clear as the day we watched the Towers fall. It never occurred to me that you could knock down a sky scrapper, and I still can't wrap my head around what I saw that day. Going around the room, the second plane into the building, the picture of the second plane frozen in the moments before it struck the tower and burst into flames, the pancake collapse of the buildings, the people falling, choosing to transition in their own way, rather than die by fire, the tears we all shed followed by tremendous anger and outrage that someone would dare attack our country.

We lost four cousins that day. All worked at the restaurant on top of the building.

That anger was palpable in the room among us. My dad, a World War II veteran, stung by the ongoing discrimination against Blacks even as they served their country. My brother in law, snatched out of college to become cannon fodder in the Vietnam war, spending his time on the USS Long Beach parked in the Gulf of Tonkin firing missiles at the Vietcong laden coast. My niece, a naval veteran who now makes her living as an air traffic controller in Texas. My nephew, recently discharged from the United States Marines, but not before being injured on his first and only tour of Iraq. Two of us lifelong, active campaigners and outspoken critics of the wars and any and all discrimination against Blacks, women and minorities, carrying scars, wounded in our individual ways, drawn together by name and an act of terror against our home.

The general consensus was that Bush should have listened to Joni Mitchell and paved a parking lot over Al Qaida's ass in Afghanistan. Never should have gone to Iraq. Should have finished what was started in Taliban country. Very supportive of President Obama, but not real happy with his continuation of Bush policies crafted in the wake of 9/11.

Another thing we all agreed on, is that America still has some unfinished business, some scores to settle, for the USS Cole, for Dar Es Alam, for Lebanon, with Iran and Saudi Arabia. We're not real happy about Israel either, We collectively need a Michael Corleone payback for past injuries suffered at the hands of those who dared to strike at us.

An unspoken consensus in the room....we were all still crying, inwardly and outwardly.

Healing is taking a very long time.

And This One Belongs to the GOP!

Boehner wants Republicans to have credit for Iraq....Okay!

The Congressman from Oompa Loompa land, John Boehner, gave a speech yesterday, attempting to preempt the President's speech on Iraq, last night. He of the terminal orange glow billed his talk to the American Legion National Convention as a major policy address. This was Boehner's second attempt at major policy in the past couple of weeks.

We all know he expects to be Speaker of the House, come November 3rd. After all, he's been telling us this for months, now.

Boehner wants to remind us that our president was against the surge in Iraq, and that the GOP should be given the credit for the strategy. Fine!

"Some leaders who opposed, criticized, and fought tooth and nail to stop the surge strategy now proudly claim credit for the results. One in the US House of Representatives declared the surge a failure before it was even implemented...Today we mark not the defeat those voices anticipated--but progress. And I want to thank President Obama for setting aside his past political rhetoric and recognizing the importance of the surge and the diplomatic agreement signed by President Bush and Prime Minister Maliki."-John Boehner
Go ahead, John, take all the credit, every stinking bit of it. Today marks the first day since March, 2003 that America has not been at war in Iraq, since the NeoCons of the GOP decided to pillage the country and take down Saddam Hussein, for no apparent reason.
Oh they gave us several reasons.....from being involved in the conspiracy on 9/11....to the need to confiscate Hussein's invisible weapons of mass destruction....to bringing democracy to the Middle East and Iraq was the first country to be democratized( new word-see what the snowbilly started)......finally to Saddam is a bad guy who hates Americans and needs to die.....
No mention of Osama Bin Laden...you know, the guy who has the penthouse overlooking Central Park and hates everything American.
But the Boehner led GOP is welcome to take credit for him, too. They armed him and the Taliban, after all. The real secret in Afghanistan is that we're fighting ourselves..but that's another story for another day.
Obama should take credit for what was accomplished in Iraq. He successfully brought home the hundreds of thousands of American troops who busted their ass for us in a terrible war that never should have been. The President rightfully honored these men and women for their seven and a half years of sacrifice, while the rest of us whined and moaned over the antics of Jon and Kate plus 8 or the Mormon boy with the magic underwear named Glen Beck. We have that luxury thanks to the troops...4427 of whom will never walk this earth again...
The President also promised to take care of the veterans, a promise also made repeatedly by the GOP but rarely kept. Remember how screwed up and out of date Walter Reed Hospital was found to be in the middle of the Iraq fiasco?
Boehner and his GOP are welcome to take credit for all the phony reasons why we went there and all the stuff that followed as a result.
He is welcome to take credit for letting Afghanistan spin so out of control and into the mess it is now because of the fake war in Iraq.
The first Oompa Loompa is welcome to take credit for all the obtuse and logic defying rationales used by Bush and the rest of the GOP to justify their illegal actions.
Actions that have economically devastated this country and brought America to its knees.
So, you go boy! Jump in. While the rest of us turn the corner, you take
all the credit.

You guys really do own this one!

In His Own Words, Condemned

Cocky, Arrogant, Elitist, Liar, Coward...No, Not Obama...Cheney

"I think 2010 is going to be a phenomenal year for the conservative cause," Cheney said to raucous applause from the conservative audience. "And I think that Barack Obama is a one-term president." --Feb 18, 2010

"My belief is we will, in fact, be greeted as liberators." -- Iraq, March 16, 2003

“We know he's been absolutely devoted to trying to acquire nuclear weapons, and we believe he has, in fact, reconstituted nuclear weapons." --about Saddam Hussein, March 16, 2003

"In Iraq, a ruthless dictator cultivated weapons of mass destruction and the means to deliver them. He gave support to terrorists, had an established relationship with al Qaeda, and his regime is no more." –Nov. 7, 2003 (al Qaeda never entered Iraq until after USA invasion)

"I think they're in the last throes, if you will, of the insurgency." -- on the Iraq June 20, 2005

"I had other priorities in the sixties than military service." –on his five draft deferments, April 5, 1989

"There are a lot of lessons we want to learn out of this process in terms of what works. I think we are in fact on our way to getting on top of the whole Katrina exercise." --Sept. 10, 2005

"Conservation may be a sign of personal virtue but it is not a sufficient basis for a sound, comprehensive energy policy." –April 30, 2001

"Go f*ck yourself." --to Sen. Patrick Leahy, during a heated exchange on the Senate floor Leahy challenged him about Halliburton profiteering-- June 25, 2004

It is interesting to note that the same stuff being said about Obama was said about Clinton and before that, Reagan. Both went on to win re election by landslides, despite taking hits in Congress, two years before in the mid term elections.

The corporate controlled mainstream media, the tea baggers, and CPAC conservatives would do well to take note that even at their strongest levels, the GOP as constituted today, will never amount to more than 25% of the voting population.

The sleeping giant in this argument is the base that only wakes up at election time. Obama proved it in 2008.

The polls never have and still don't take into account the America that is simply sitting back an watching, and waiting.

Those who take their cues from Facebook and the blogs....need to look past the big popular blogs or the pages of the rich and famous...the people who vote are out there and they are talking..

And what they are talking about is not what Cheney, and Sarah, and Mitt and Tim and Eric and John and Mitch want to hear...If the election were held today...

Obama would still win in a landslide...take that to the bank...

Year 1 BHO

I am still thankful that Barack Obama was elected president of the United States last November. I believe that the country turned and started going in the right direction after being off kilter for so many years.

I still think that one year later, he was and remains the best choice for this country.

Am I 100% happy with the way things have gone this past year? No.

When Obama put together his “change” team, he didn't really change things. He added a few women, a couple of women of color. He added a few openly gay and lesbian people. However, from the beginning he stuck with the same white guys, maybe a little younger, but those who espoused the same kind of stuff and policies that got us into this mess in the first place. I was not happy with the likes of Geithner, Summers, or the Generals put in charge of those misguided fiascoes Iraq and Afghanistan. One year in, I am less happy with his choices.

Having been raised on politics from the cradle, I know that things can't and won't turn around quickly and this has been a problem for Obama. He won by convincing a lot of people to vote for him who don't know politics and furthermore, never took an interest in politics prior to his coming. These new voters didn't hear him tell them, it was going to take some time. As with all things these days, new voters are fanatics with miniscule attention spans and little or no patience for the actual work that needs to be done to make everything seem miraculous. To put it another way, the new voters are working in dual processing capability while Obama and the government are operating in ms dos.

Everybody bought the “Barack the Magic Negro” scenario. In other words, we made this guy president now all he has to do is walk into the Oval office and wave a wand and vanquish all of our problems..the budget magically balances...the deficit goes back to a surplus like when Clinton left... everyone gets their dream job.....Black people are seen as worthy.....Wall Street and big corporations grow a conscience... so called Christian evangelicals link arms and sing Cum by ya with the LGBT community....don't ask, don't tell goes away and gay people are allowed to get married..... and the treasury draining quagmires called the war on terrorism, ends...

Easy...Ala Kazam, one, two, three and poof....America fixed....American dream still in tact, duct tape no longer needed...

Except this is not what happened...Barack, the touchy feelie basketball playing candidate morphed back into Barack the cool, Barack the logical, Barack the pragmatic, Barack the aloof college professor who seems more willing to compromise and work the status quo, than to shake things up and move forward. The community organizer has gone into hiding at a time when the country really, really needs a rabble rousing organizer.

In Barack Obama, we were voting for more FDR. What we got, apparently, is a little unexpected and quite a bit maddening.

The newly baptized are defecting in droves...fearful of the change they say they want and unwilling to wait for it. While Obama works behind the scenes, talking quietly with his colleagues, demanding they find solutions, he leaves the people adrift, in limbo, unable to see the workings of his mind.

Barack the Communicator is not communicating, nor showing any understanding that sometimes silence communicates louder than the spoken word. The new converts need a constant fix or suffer painful withdrawal, which sends them scampering to find a new supplier. This is what's happening to Obamaville.

The wing nuts have found their leaders on the radio and on television. The Glen-Greta-Sean-Bill-Rush-Laura-Sarah hit parade is in full swing having stolen the bully pulpit. They don't have any solutions, but they throw a helluva good party, where the crazies can safely give voice to their fear of change and racist assumptions that minorities are destroying "their " country.

From the beginning of his campaign, Obama has been painted in pink...too soft for the job....He's not by any stretch of the imagination. But he does need to flex his muscles in public, from time to time.

How can he flex?

He can bring our troops home. No surge in Afghanistan. We had it won, until Iraq jumped off ...Time to cut our loses and come home.

He can put people back to work. He can rebuild schools and infrastructure to the same 56-billion dollar tune that this country has spent in Iraq to build schools and infrastructure. Health care reform is important...but if you ain't working and there is no public option, you have no house or car and no way to feed your family..you can't afford it..so...jobs are the key here. So is another stimulus. The first one wasn't big enough to stimulate a consumer driven economy which we are.

This second stimulus, if it comes about, should put the money directly into the pockets of the consumers, namely us...And I'm not talking 600-dollars....I'm talking 30-thou per person. You want people to spend money then give them some..They will pay their bills, save some and spend some creating the very cycle this country needs right now.

He can go ahead and suspend DADT in the military by executive order. He can close Guantanamo, bring the alleged terrorists into this country to fill the empty jails that populate the small towns and put people back to work as guards or in support of the prison system (I am truly baffled by Neocons and good ole boys who fight tooth and nail so that we all can have as many guns as we want, yet when Barack says bring them to this country...they cower in fear of a few terrorists).

The biggest fallacy has been Barack's clinging to trickle down economics....In other words, prime the pump that is Wall Street...and eventually the people will be taken care of...It has never worked...and it never will.

It is still Voodoo Economics, period.

The banks are sitting on the money, refusing to hire, yet rewarding themselves with billions of dollars in job well done bonuses. Big corporations are still figuring out ways to ship their profit and our jobs overseas. They are still looking out for themselves.

We need some good old fashioned community organizer type blackmail to get these guys to either create jobs or bring some jobs and manufacturing back home. I thinking that Obama should ask Jesse or Rev Al on the QT, just how you blackmail corporate America. They been doing it for years, so put their expertise to work for all of us.

As I've said before, President Obama cannot do it alone, change must come from all of us.

However we chose him to lead and that is what I expect him to do....Lead...I think he is smart enough to figure that out...I just hope it's sooner rather than later.

Congressman Eric Cantor...the face of compassionate conservatism..This from a man who has government funded health care to a woman with stomach tumors Click on the link to check out what he said...

"She breaches!".....Condi speaks about pulling out of Afghanistan....where was all this bluntness when her boss was lying to us about terror attacks eight years ago...

I seem to recall if they had read the memo early in 2001....we might not have been attacked so succesfully in September 2001...

I seem to recall that on that fateful day....her boss was caught with his pants down in a classroom full of students...doing what Obama was excoriated for a few weeks ago..

I seem to recall....her boss and his now very vocal vice president went into hiding and Condi disappeared...

No Moses moment from these clowns...you know what I'm talking about...in the Ten Commandment movie when Joshua tells Moses to go stand on the rock and be seen so his people could draw strength from his visage as God parted the red sea...

To paraphrase a dead politician...."Mr Bush...you are no Moses!" and neither is Cheney and Condoleeza Rice...well nobody will ever mistake her for Joan of Arc, or Rosa Parks, or Coretta Scott King...

And afterward....again paying no attention to the writing on the memo....attacked Iraq when the terrorists with Saudi passports and birth certificates and nationality launched their attack from American soil, as American trained and armed Al Qaeda cheered from the sidelines in Afghanistan...

Remember bin laden's family lived in New York on September 11 and had to be smuggled out by the Bush government on airplanes supplied by his oil rich Saudi friends...

Condi helped create the lies back then...and now thinks we will listen to her once again?

hmmmmmmmm....

Things are different now....the one thing that is true about America...you can hit us...but not twice....

Thanks to Bush and Cheney and Condi...we got hit..But it won't happen again...

We're awake now...

Try it again....we dare absolutely double dare ya...

What Prejean needs to understand is that she's not the only one with first amendment rights...she does have a right to her opinion....

But so do the rest of us.....Honest....Don't believe me...go ask the people on the right who are giving you the bad advice...

Lawmakers bought and paid for by the Tobacco Industry....

Mitch McConnell....got nearly a half million dollars....nearly double the next name on the list...

Good old Mitch was just taking care of his corporate constituents, giving them the best law money can buy....

Have to admit, that I have a problem with legislation intended to change certain behaviors like smoking...

I think it's an ugly habit...but if you want to do it...then do it...

Kind of like telling me I shouldn't drink wine or beer....my poison....my choice...

Of course the difference is that drinking wine only kills me, maybe..while smoking cigarettes can kill others with second hand smoke...

Still....There is that thing called freedom of choice...isn't there....

Prohibition didn't work....the bogus war on drugs is a big failure and should be ended.....Prostitution bans only penalize the women....

This thing with tobacco....consenting adults should decide...if they're willing to pay the cost as well as the price..then..let em..

Officials bought and paid for by Saudi Arabia...

Some guy, who no one's ever heard of but who was a deputy director of the Agency that sells advanced weapons systems to foreign governments..

Seems one of the many Saudi princes picked up the travel tab of this guy..named...Richard Millies and his wife to vacation in Riyadh to attend a festival..the eight day trip cost $24,000.

The Saudis spent $4.4 billion to buy weapons including smart bombs...

And they paid the tabs of many other Pentagon officials desiring to spend time in the Middle East....a total of 22,000 trips by Pentagon officials and their families, costing the Saudi princes $26 million dollars...

Spending that kind of money....No wonder Bush chose to dump on Iraq rather than go after the country that spawned the 9/11 hijackers..

You can read more about it here...

In Fear of a Black Planet...

Not content to blame the victim...the pseudo christian conservative right is blaming Obama for the guys with the guns attempting to turn back time or die trying....

I don't know what all the fear is about now...Earth has always been a mostly Black planet....

Power changed when Europeans couldn't take control of the oil....like they did with land, gold, diamonds, religion and other wealth generating commodities....

With Obama...the pigeons are coming home to roost, so to speak....Karma comeback....

Did I Just Miss the Election?

Or is John McCain attempting to act presidential with his hawkish vibrato on the Georgia-Russia situation.

If this is his idea of showing us how well prepared he is to lead this country, then I have a few problems with his style. The John Wayne style of shooting from the hip and asking questions later doesn’t work in the real world anymore, if it ever did. And if he is attempting to live up to his misnamed nickname, then he is screwing that up, too. Maverick’s are loners who follow their own way. Madonna’s a maverick, Jane Fonda’s a maverick, Cool Hand Luke’s a maverick, Jack Nicholson’s a maverick, Dennis Kucinich is a maverick, Ron Paul is a maverick, Ralph Nader is a maverick....John McCain?.......nah!

Telling a group of reporters that countries don’t invade other countries in the 21st century was just plain dumb. Think about it, John....how did we get into Iraq, again? Did Saddam invite us for tea and a sleep over? No matter what Dubya’s reasons were, it was an invasion, plain and simple, and it happened in the 21st century.

And that other thing you said.....there is an old saying; don’t let your mouth make promises that your ass can’t keep. If you don’t occupy the White House, you can’t declare all of us Americans, Georgians and then tell those people “we’ve” got your back. I mean, where you git that “we” shit kemo sabe?

That’s a punch line from an old joke that McCain is old enough to know..Hell, he was probably there when it was written.

The joke goes like this; The Lone Ranger and his faithful Indian companion Tonto are riding along when suddenly they find themselves surrounded by Indians. The Lone Ranger looks at Tonto and says, “well old friend, I guess this is it, we’re outnumbered.” To which Tonto leans back on his horse and replies, “where you git that “we” shit kemo sabe..”

I’m with Tonto. I ain’t in this mess and I don’t like being put in the middle of a situation created by some useless promises and platitudes issued by that other fool, who still does occupy the White House.

McCain’s obviously missed the fact that we’re kind of short on troops these days what with those situations in Afghanistan and Iraq. Going guns blazing into Georgia would probably get us into a shooting match with Russia and drag the rest of the world down the non returnable rabbit hole of World War III.

The last time I looked, Shrub was still president, Dick Cheney was still VP. I don’t recall seeing John McCain listed anywhere in the current chain of command. And I do seem to recall him lambasting Obama in commercial after frickin commercial, about attempting to be presidential when he hasn’t yet won the election. At least Bush is sending his Russian expert, Condi Rice. Finally, she gets to do something other than play piano and demonstrate her predawn exercise routine.

Diplomacy is the way adults handle situations. The red phone is not some button in the cockpit of a practice mini bomber. Press the button and we lose the pilot and plane. Pick up the red phone and we lose the world.

Think about it, genius.

At the rate McCain is going, we can just hold Obama’s coronation tomorrow, or whenever he returns from vacation.

Why I Won’t Vote for John Sidney McCain

I have said in other posts that I, once upon a time, considered John McCain a viable candidate for President. That was back in 2000, before I took a deeper look into his politics and before he started to show his true colors. I was taking him at his word....believing the words that were coming out of his mouth, at the time.

8 years later, after more words and research on my part, I can only say “man, what was I thinking.” I’ll admit it, I’m smart, but even I have stupid moments sometimes. My consideration of McCain as a possibility to lead this country was just plain dumb.

I have already written about his stance against any program that benefits women. His votes in Congress are 100% anti-woman. That in itself is enough to scare me away from him.

Since he has become the GOP standard bearer in 2008, he’s sunk even lower, adopting the totally clueless and classless posturing of the fratboy currently occupying the White House. All of this for the sake of power. He’s not the first to give into his thirst for power. George the first was overwhelmed by the dark side when he became Ronald Reagan’s Vice President. Prior to drinking the cool aide, George the first made sense, too. Others have crossed over. Maybe that is the true definition of a politician, I don’t know. Seems to be that way, today.

So, what else don’t I like about John McCain;

1...His patronizing attitudes toward black people. His thinking that we will jump on his bandwagon simply because he makes one speech at the NAACP convention. Don’t see anybody of color in his campaign.

He does have African American stuff at his campaign store...a dollar will buy you a bumper sticker that says “African Americans for McCain.” We don’t get hats or T shirts..just bumper stickers and key chains at 5-dollars a pop.

2...After stating that he wouldn’t stoop to attack politics, he hires and puts in charge three acolytes of Karl Rove, the wizard himself, to handle day to day operations in his campaign. Since he did that the McCain campaign has gone totally negative...nothing positive...just wall to wall attack ads meant to knock Obama off message.

If McCain were truly trying to be something other than Bush lite, he would not be running this type of campaign. These are the same guys who floated that story about McCain having a black illegitimate baby, back in 2000. Now he’s in bed with them. Talk about laying down in the gutter with dogs.

3...Speaking of attacks, McCain goaded Obama to go overseas to Iraq and Europe and when Obama responded, McCain attacked him for ignoring the American people, for ignoring the troops, for playing basketball instead of talking about the issues, for trying to look presidential, and for pandering to foreigners.

McCain was quick to say he’d already made many trips to Iraq and to show how safe it was, he took a walk through an Iraqi market place. However, he made his walk in flack jacket, surrounded by a platoon of soldiers, under cover from gun ships. I’d be safe too, if I was strolling around a war zone like that.

4...McCain blames Obama for rising gas prices. He released this ad when gasoline prices actually started to drop, but never mind that. I want to know how a junior Senator, who’s only been in Congress for a few years, can be blamed for a mess 30 years in the making?

And hasn’t McCain been in Congress more than 26 years? Tell me again, who’s to blame?

5...Now comes this attack likening Obama to Paris Hilton and Britney Spears. The only Paris Hilton look alike I see on the campaign trail is Cindy McCain, John’s wife. Or hasn’t he noticed? Rail thin, blond, ice princess with a hundred million dollar inheritance, standing ten paces behind him? Maybe his war injuries prevent him from turning his head enough to see her in his shadow.

And, besides, is this ad anything other than a racist attempt to link a black man to some skinny ass white woman? Doesn't this ad play to the lowest of the low subliminal racial stereotypes?

6...McCain has also flipped on affirmative action. He is now against it.

7..He has flipped on tax cuts for the rich. He is now in favor.

8...He draws social security, yet he is in favor of gutting the program..medicare, too.

9....He has no love for public schools favoring instead funding vouchers and that silly “no child left behind” program.

10...He wants to stay in Iraq, prolong the war, even though al Maliki and the Iraqi people have said they want us gone, agreeing with Obama’s timetable.

11...McCain insists the surge worked.....not if you look at it....After all, how many generals did Bush have to fire to get one to agree with him on neocon war strategy...think about it.

12...McCain has adopted the GOP wingnut stance that anyone who disagrees with him is a traitor or unpatriotic. This is the reincarnation of Joe McCarthy, a truly insidious individual who was aided by a closeted gay man named Roy Cohn. That is in keeping with the current GOP standard.

13...After calling the pseudo pastors of the religious right, “agents of intolerance,” McCain has actually gone back to church, embraced the planet Neptune resident, John Hagee among others and is now attempting to appear more pious.

14....McCain’s past would seem to indicate that he has some serious character flaws...womanizing flaws like the ones that tarnished Bill Clinton’s tenure in the White House. Was he divorced or merely separated when he took up with a juvenile, now second wife.

15...And I will say it again...flying a jet, being a POW, albeit for five years, does not necessarily qualify you to be President of the United States.

Everyone I know personally, and I mean, everyone, who came back from Vietnam was messed up in the head...even if they weren’t held prisoner. We’re still paying the price for Vietnam with the cost of Iraq just beginning to show itself in the killings and rapes of female soldiers, in the suicides of returning troops, and the refusals of some to serve or of those to re-enlist and return, no matter how much money is thrown at them. The cost to torn apart families of the national guard is astronomical, with no end in sight.

John McCain was held for five years....can you say Manchurian Candidate?

I don’t want this man anywhere near the red phone at three o’clock in the morning with my life at stake.

I don’t trust him...plain and simple....I truly believe that World War III will happen if this man gets into the oval office as commander in chief....

McCain’s Got Jokes

John McCain says he’s going to balance the budget by the end of his first term in office as president. And after he does that he is going marry me and make me a straight woman. Ha!

Republicans have been rolling out this campaign lie since Ronald Reagan. Eight years ago, before the latest GOP clown took over, there was a government surplus. We, meaning the 95% of the population who are regular folks and not rich, were happy. We had jobs, we had money, we could feed our families and drive our cars. Reagan not only did not balance the budget, but he increased the deficit and should have been brought up on charges along with Ollie North.

Now, thanks to the policies of trickle down economics or voodoo economics, as George the first called it before he became Reagan’s vice president, implemented by George the second, we have a deficit approaching multi trillion dollars. We have a couple of wars, no jobs, no money, no health care, no food for our families, and we can’t afford gasoline.

GOP nominee, John McCain apparently wants to continue the policies that has put us 95 percenters deeper in the poor house.

McCain was originally against the Bush tax cuts....Now that he is running for president..he is in favor of them....AND...he says he will pay down the deficit by winning the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan and taking all that money that we no longer have to spend over there, and pay off the bills over here....voila! Balanced budget! Hehehehehehehehehehe! “Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain!”

He also wants to cut spending on social security, medicare and medicaid, because that is where all the wasteful government spending is located, according to him.

McCain also shook up his advisory staff, too. He added a Bush acolyte to the payroll, a guy who is said to be a Karl Rove disciple. Hasn’t anyone told McCain that if you’re truly trying to distance yourself from someone....you run AWAY from them.....NOT toward them...And you certainly don’t hire their old staff to help you run what you say is a NEW campaign.

But then maybe I’m the one who’s the dummy....Maybe he isn’t running away from Bush. Doesn’t seem like it.

And, since I’m in a McCain smack down mood......General Wesley Clark didn’t lie.....flying planes does not necessarily qualify you to be president....it’s kind of like....just because we can all drive a car...that we are all qualified to drive in the Indy 500......No.....Not at all.....

This was just another example of all the fake scandals that have been floating around for the past several years to deflect our attention away from the real stuff.....

I call it peripheral Bullshit.....pay attention to the BS and you miss the real story hidden behind it..

WIMBLEDON !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Go Williams....the girls took home 2.5-million dollars by Venus winning singles for the fifth time and then teaming up with Serena to take the doubles crown from the number one ranked women’s team in the world.....

I didn’t think it could get any better...but then came Sunday...

Ra-fa! Ra-fa! Ra-fa!

Man....I just saw the greatest tennis match of my life.....I never thought I would see anything to top the Borg-McEnroe matches of 1980 and 1981. They were magnicificent, and I was content to go to my grave with those memories...

Now there is a new one.....Nadal and Federer....

May they play long and hard. Man! That was some weekend!

Freeze Frame Moment, Pass the wine, Please!

WHOOOOOOOOOOIEEEEE!

Someone said it......”the only game we can’t win...is the one we don’t play!’

WE PLAYIN’ POLITICS BAY BEE!

Now that I’ve gotten that out of my system, I will go back to masquerading as a responsible adult.....

Watching history unfold in real time has got to be the ultimate high. Whether or not it’s good or bad, it’s a gas. I always remember what I was doing when that moment happens. The time just freezes forever in my mind.

Last night was one of those nights. Barack Obama, a black man, clinched the democratic nomination for president of the United States. I will always remember last night, because I never believed it would happen in my lifetime.

It remains to be seen if he will become president. Feels like he will, but you never know until the final votes are counted, and we’ve still got 22 weeks to go before that happens.

Last night, as Obama was embracing his destiny, John McCain was seeking to find his relevance. It is ironic that he chose as his slogan, a phrase that does little to define himself but does point a beacon at his opponent.

“A Leader we can believe in..” I saw that phrase and at first thought I had tuned into the wrong speech.

It’s going to take more than just reciting the buzz words...economy, health care, security, Iraq. There has to be some substance behind the words. I have problems with a man seeking the presidency who has already said he doesn’t understand the economy. McCain says the “hundred years in Iraq” was a misquote...is that true of the “I don’t understand the economy,” statement, too. And what about women's issues?

Belief is what America is clamoring for. We need heroes again. Larger than life people who don’t seem to be only in the game for themselves. People who have the ability to see between the lines and are versatile enough to create or attempt to create something for all of us.

Which brings me to Hillary Clinton. Let me be honest. She ticked me off last night. Instead of being magnanimous in defeat, she chose to be petty. She chose to play the spurned woman...”not tonight, honey, I’ve got a headache..” Please! What the hell are emails from other pissed off white women going to do?

Yes, the media mistreated her. Any woman who plays games with the old boys, in any male dominated arena, gets manhandled...verbally and physically. All women who have dared to challenge men on what they consider their turf gets abused. Doesn’t make any difference what level, blue collar, white collar..any industry. Been there, done that.Get over it. Hillary knew going in that it was going to happen.

Clinton lost the nomination because of a badly run campaign, her inability to control her husband, and the arrogance in assuming that she had the undivided support of the black community.

Last night showed me again that she was out for herself, and for Bill, giving him an unofficial third term in office. I want the good times back, too, but not with Bill. Not after the stuff coming out of his mouth the past year and a half.

The current administration has spent the past eight years scaring us into submission. I’m ready for an administration that presents us with a different message and a look into the future.

One last thing...I’ve been saving a bottle of Bordeaux , a 1955 Chateau La Fleur Pomerol, for my 60th birthday in a couple of years. But if Obama wins the White House, I will drink it in November on election night.

If you’re in town, drop by....I will be happy to share. So let the celebration begin.

Straight Talk Expressed

Hillary’s latest argument for claiming the nomination for president is that white people, poor and blue collar white people, that is, simply won’t vote for a black man. The latest poll numbers seem to bear this out.

She is playing the race card in a last desperate act this late in the campaign season. But is she a racist for saying this? No, she is not. She is a realist. Probably more real than any other white person, alleged pundit or news person talking about this campaign.

I agree with her to a point....I am very pessimistic about how white people are going to vote in the general election in November. Saturday Night Live alluded to this in their opening skit last night. It was nervously funny...everyone laughed, but nervously, like what was said was hitting home.

But I think, unlike Mrs. Clinton, that Barack Obama has earned the chance to find out. He has run the better campaign. He has won the primaries, caucuses and hearts of the party faithful and those others who have turned out to vote in the run up to November.

His message is more positive. It is different from what has been seeping out of that cesspool called Washington, for the past eight years.

Hell, Obama’s message is even different from what the Clinton’s gave us during their eight year run. They made us feel good, but they didn’t fix anything and in some cases, they made it worse.

Personally, I think a different kind of president would send a message to congress that it is time to think about the American People, not just lining their individual pockets. I would love to just drop a bomb on Capital Hill and start from scratch.

Bush could not have accomplished any of his wrong/illegal policies and programs if congress had not caved in to him. Congress was set up to prevent any occurrence or possibility of an imperial presidency. This Congress has obviously chosen not to read or uphold the Constitution.

This congress has been nothing more than a rubber stamp for policy that has literally gutted America.

We are not as strong, we are not as well off or safe, we are not as rich, we are not as independent and we are not as respected as in the past.

I want us as a nation to start thinking about what is good for us, rather than what is good for the rest of the world.

We need to return jobs to America. Our greatest minds are finding their way to Singapore and China or other ports in Asia along with the blue collar jobs that are being outsourced so corporate America can have bigger profit margins. Our government is borrowing heavily from China and Japan to prop up the faltering American dollar.

Bush’s idea of an economic move was to beg...BEG Saudi Arabia to help us get more oil. Does that sound like the act of a true superpower to you?

And speaking of superpowers....hasn’t Russia reinvented itself? Or is everyone paying too much attention to the fiasco in Iraq to have noticed? I thought Condi was fluent in Russian as well as an expert in eastern block affairs.

We need to rebuild our infrastructure....make our public transportation systems better and user friendly as a means of weaning us off foreign oil.

We need to rebuild our public schools. Johnny can’t read, can’t write, doesn’t know history, science or mathematics.

We need to stop propping up countries who then turn around and bite us in the ass. Since World War I, losing to us was the best way to get your country rebuilt. Iraq is just the latest example of this.

More than a new president, we need a new direction. One where America works again for it’s people. America can no longer afford to be the playground for old assed neocons who are comfortable standing by while their corporate buddies rape and pillage this country.

The people who have so far voted for Obama realize this. I hope that those who have yet to cast a vote, will listen to the winds of change and take a stand, for what is still the greatest country on the face of this earth.

Jeremiah

I’ve been trying to tune out the rhetoric of this never ending campaign. I’ve made up my mind and am ready to cast my vote and get on with my life. When last I checked in, Hillary was, and continues to sound desperate. Barack seems to be bending whichever way the political wind blows. He must try and please everybody in order to get elected. And as we all know, you just can’t please everybody.

The campaign has gotten ugly, very ugly, and my feeling is that it will only get worse.
This current trend toward debaseness(is that a word?), has revealed how utterly power hungry are the Clintons. They seem willing to try anything to bring down Obama and regain the White House.

And then there is the Reverend Jeremiah Wright...

I’ve heard the sound bites...for those of you who don’t know...a sound bite is a piece of something...usually 15-30 seconds long....used on news shows to tell the viewer a little about the person involved in the story being presented. Sound bites were typically used to add life to a story....to cut down on what is called the “talking head” syndrome....meaning someone is sitting there, or standing there, reading at you...

Sound bites can be good when used correctly. However, they can also be used to paint slander or libel the person portrayed...When I worked as a news reporter, we were very, very careful about what we used and how we used it.

As I said, I’ve heard the sound bites pulled from the sermons of the Jeremiah Wright, and being a former investigative reporter, I went back and found the whole sermon, or sermons....After listening to the entire speech...heck...after listening to just the paragraph from which the sound bite was taken...The American News media owes Reverend Wright an apology, period.

I will even go so far as to say that Obama needs to apologize, too. I realize he was covering his ass and while he did distance himself from Wright, he did not sever his friendship. But he did play the game and continues to call Rev. Wright’s speeches unwholesome and un-American. Obama should apologize.

It’s been said that Oprah stopped going to Rev. Wright’s church because she felt uncomfortable with his teachings. I don’t know if this is true. But I will say that if Oprah is uncomfortable with what he said, then maybe she needs to look at why she is uncomfortable. Is money more important than the truth? I’m just asking.

Because after listening to ALL of the sermons of the Righteous Reverend Jeremiah Wright, I have to say...He didn’t lie. He spoke truth and as we all know...

America cannot handle the truth when it comes to itself and it’s actions against non white, non protestant peoples.

If you don’t like this statement, then go back and read our white washed history...from the time of Native Americans to present day Iraq, Palestine, Africa.

Compare it to how we, as a country behaved against Panama, Granada, Haiti, Cuba.

Why do we as a country value, save and listen to ex patriot Cubans while watching Haitian boat people drown by double digits attempting to reach alleged freedom here in this country?

This is what Rev. Wright, the former Marine talks about in his sermons. Then he segues into the need for black on black self help. He echoes Bill Cosby and a few others. Maybe he is not as tactful as the others. He was, after all talking within the tribe, not mindful of outside ears, but sometimes the truth hurts, no matter how you say it.

Understand, Obama is about to have the house dropped on him, not the kitchen sink and the charge is apparently being led by the Clintons....He, who is hungry for his return to the ultimate history making spotlight....She...because for the first time a woman really can become the ultimate CEO.....

But the White House was not set up for a two headed monarchy. It was set up for one person with a little help from his friends.

King George is on the way out for the second time...We don’t need a two headed replacement, or a near senile court jester who doesn’t understand the economy, anything else beyond threats and retaliation for those who disagree with us.

Monday Moments....

There are some movies that play on television that I never miss, no matter what. I can recite the lines of these movies, word for word in my sleep. Charlton Heston figures in two of these movies, Ben Hur and The Ten Commandments. I watch them religiously and have for as long as I’ve had a TV set. Heston also starred in two other movies that I watch over and over.....Planet of the Apes and The Omega Man. I read the Pierre Boule book before the movie came out. The Omega Man captured my attention because it also starred the late great Rosalind Cash. Besides being a Sci Fi movie it was also an interracial love story between Rosalind and Charlton. But I didn’t know there was a love scene in it until I rented the movie and watched it unedited. TV versions apparently felt that black-white love was too much for G rated TV at the time. The Omega Man was recently released as I Am Legend starring Will Smith, without the interracial love story.

More than his acting career, Heston was known as the president of the NRA. I don’t know if anyone was ever able to pry his gun from his “cold dead hands” but he stood up for what he believed and I don’t fault him for that. For those of us who can remember, Heston also stood behind Dr. Martin Luther King during the March on Washington in 1963. He was a complex man. Not just an actor. He seemed to actually be the man he played on film...honest, forthright and honorable.

Rest in Peace, Mr Heston...

Chocolate-wrapped GOP

I don’t care how you dress it up... a pig is still a pig....putting Condoleeza on the GOP presidential ticket as VP to McCain won’t make any difference. And it’s an insult to think that it will sway black people simply because of the woman’s skin color. She is still part of a failed administration that doesn’t give a damn about blacks or poor whites.

She was part of the lie that put us in Iraq. She has been all but invisible in trying to deal with that situation. Dubya has her riding herd on Palestine, no less.

The sooner we get done with anything Bush, the better off we will be, chocolate wrapped or not.

Seven years after the fact, the government is going to try terrorists for taking down the world trade centers. Six have been indicted and will be subject to secret trials, just as they were tortured secretly. They will also be subject to the death penalty if convicted. My main problem among many with this scenario is that I don’t recall hearing Osama Bin Laden’s name among those charged and I don’t think any of those charged are Saudi Arabians who had ties with Iraq. I’m having a problem with the alleged facts in this case, as well as with the timing of this situation. The politics of fear...will it change the outcome of the election in November, or has it run its course?

********

The History Channel says the anthrax scare was an inside job...as in originated with native grown terrorists...not middle eastern terrorists.....so native....they were probably government workers...working undercover....Are we surprised....no...Wish I could live another 100 years so that I could find out who really blew up the trade center towers....

******

The more I listen to John McCain, the more I’m sure the guy is entering the first, or maybe even the second stages of dementia. Does he really think folks are going to put him in the White House so that he can keep us in Iraq for the next 100 years, if necessary?

He is having trouble putting away his GOP opponent Mike Huckabee. How does he think he is going to handle the cultural juggernaut that the Democrats are planning to throw at him in the general election.

I feel it’s going to be Obama, but even Hillary would be a force to reckon with for the old guy from Arizona. MSM hasn’t figured this out yet...They still think it’s a matter of experience.

His speeches are painful to listen to and especially to watch. I give him all of his due respect. He is an American hero. But the days of electing a hero to lead the country just because he can fly a plane and drop bombs on indigent people, are over. I didn’t like Ike and I don’t care for McCain.

McCain has no vision, no creativity and certainly no flexibility to handle a job as daunting as president.

His selection of vice president will speak volumes...will it be Joe Lieberman, the used to be democrat, or will it be Reverend Mike, the man who wants to marry religion to government, thereby creating a western union that would rival any dreamed up by the jihadist suicide bombers of the middle east.

The talk show propelled Huckabee still thinks he is the answer. He needs to turn off the TV and radio, open his window and listen to the whispers of the street. Drumbeat don’t lie....

******
Speaking of drumbeat....I would hope that the democratic super delegates are paying attention to the people.....a back room deal that hands the nomination to the wrong candidate is going to tear the party apart.

The Democrats are great at snatching defeat from the hands of victory....they’ve already screwed up their mandate in congress that was given them in 2006. Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid suck at leadership on Capitol Hill. All they’ve done is cave in to Dubya, on just about everything. I’m really, really tired of professional politicians doing what they think is “right” for me. We need term limits and a ban on lobbyists in Washington.

It's Time

If given the chance I will vote for Barack Obama because....

I am not happy with the status quo, compassionate conservatism is a myth and an oxymoron...

I don't believe in trickle down economics or that Ronnie Raygun was our best president..

I was totally against going into Iraq, I am totally against staying there any longer than we have to as a military presence...so John McCain's continued warmongering takes him off the table for me, as well as his own admission that he doesn't understand the economy. ..I would venture to guess that diplomacy escapes him as well...

Hillary, has some great ideas and is a wonderful asset...I just don't feel or see her vision...I want to be excited about America again

Mitt Romney is not likeable...He says what he thinks we want to hear, that smacks of dishonesty...He practices a religion that didn't recognize me or my ancestors as human and he campaigns like we don't exist, now....

Mike Huckabee is a homophobe, despite his guitar playing and religious credentials..He wants to change the constitution to reflect God's word...which god..which bible...

Ron Paul is a racist..despite what he says, his name is the one on the banner of his newsletters...just like my name is on the top of this blog....I can't deny these words...neither can he deny his content.....

I believe we need massive change in Washington, within our government...

I believe we need term limits...line item veto, and a ban on lobbyists and special interest groups as anything other than silent spectators on Capitol Hill..I think we need public funds financing our political campaigns..

I believe that Barack Obama represents the revolution that we need..
I feel the hope....I see the vision....

No, he does not have all the answers....no one person does..But I see in him the creative capacity to make things work...better than they've been working for the past several years...

I see in him the statesman, the dreamer, the guy who can take lemons and make lemonade and be comfortable enough to drink it spiked with a little vodka.....

Barack also reminds me of someone else....Her name was Barbara Jordan...She, too lives in Barack...I hear her when he speaks...And that means more to me than even the endorsement of Caroline Kennedy...

Money for Nothing....

I’m not gonna lie, if the government wants to cut me a 600-dollar check, I’m going to take it, and I would suggest you do the same. I was around the last time our president decided to return some of our hard earned money. That time we got a whole 200-dollars per person. So 600-dollars, this time around, has to be considered something of a windfall.

This country is flirting with a recession, and it needs us, the taxpayers to spend the money. Saving it won’t help. Paying bills won’t help either. So our beloved leaders want us to take that 600-dollars and buy half a new digital TV. Or, they want us to take a couple of our kids on a vacation, you can draw straws as to which one or two, if you have more than two.

Let’s see, you can also buy a sofa from Lazyboy or some other furniture store, if you don’t have champagne tastes. Or, you could buy about a month’s worth of groceries, maybe, or take the family to a movie, once or twice. If you drive an SUV, you could fill up the gas tank, all the way, a couple of times, at least.

Is this going to help us as individuals, as families, as a country, to climb out the mess we’re in? Hell no. But our government apparently figures the money will divert our attention away from the real problems we’re facing right now.

Problems like the current election. This alleged stimulus bill is a bipartisan mishmash which doesn’t make me any happier with the apparent incoming democrats, assuming folks don’t get too happy with all that money in their pocket and once again vote republican.

Problems like the tax cuts that this administration keeps handing out to rich people. This alleged stimulus is loaded with tax breaks for them....Us, we get 600 to 1200-dollars...once....probably in May...too late to really stimulate anything...

Problems like the on-going conflagration in Iraq and Afghanistan that is eating up two trillion dollars a day. We’ve lost about 4000 troops to date. Osama must be laughing his ass off. Our whole army can’t find him and his kid is on American television giving interviews. If there is anyone who deserves to be in Guantanamo being tortured for info, it’s Osama junior....One question...”where’s your old man, son?” Then I’d give him the 25-million dollar reward as an apology for messing up his dreds, like he needs the money.

Problems like the overwhelming credit card debt that many of us have. Or, the mortgage meltdown that the Fed is attempting to fix, as we speak.

Problems like the cost of gas or the rising costs of heating your home.

Problems like unemployment which is at about six percent right now. And what about social security, health care, and that now fleeting dream of retirement for some.

Problems like our government absolving Haliburton and KBR of any wrongdoing or fraud in Iraq.

Problems like the proposal buried deep in pending legislation that pardons all Bush Administration crimes and misdemeanors in the future, should the rest of the world try to enforce Geneva Conventions rules and regulations. At least, Nixon had Ford do his dirty work.

Yep, we can all take that 600-dollars and go on a spending spree and save our world. That is, what’s left of it, after Dubya and company are gone...

Questions, Questions, Questions!

Where in the world is Condi Rice? Isn’t she the main United States diplomat in charge of making things better in the world politically between our enemies and us? Why isn’t she over in Iraq attempting to bring calm from chaos?

It was reported that she has been seeking an interview with the Pope and got turned down. He reportedly didn’t want to interrupt his vacation just to see her. If Donovan did that..he would be highly criticized and maybe even yanked from the game. The Buck Doesn’t Stop Here

I guess Harry Truman is doing flip flops in his grave over this administration. The straight talking, straight shooting, honest man from Missouri, would never have allowed the White House to be swallowed up by the cloud of mendacity that seeps from every crack of that building these days.

We have a president who “doesn’t recall, can’t remember, blames congress and the democrats, and anybody else he can think of for the current morass.” Now he has appointed a War Czar to handle the quagmire in the middle east.

I thought the president was always the “war czar.” Dubya was the boss in the run up to the war after 9/11. He was the head of state when it came to “mission accomplished” on the flight deck in front of the troops. Why step away now. Why doesn’t the buck stop at Dubya’s desk as it has with every other president we’ve had to this point?

I guess it’s like everything else about this president..paint a big picture, pose for the photo op, and let everyone else fill in the details, no matter how fuzzy or unethical.

Question......Does AG Gonzales ever pay attention to the words coming out of his mouth? He’s got his tongue so far up Dubya’s butt, it’s a wonder if he will ever come clean. Talk about loyalty to the family, and I’m not talking Sopranos here. Maybe the feds need to pay closer attention to what goes on inside la familia in Maine.

OMG! Paris is traumatized about going to jail. Well, join the club sista girl, me too! I don’t think anyone likes being locked up. But MOST of us do the right thing and stay away from jail and police officers with badges and guns. We po folk don’t call em pigs for nothing. We don’t have millions of dollars, a glitzy name or high priced attorneys to protect us. We have to do the right thing or pay the price. Because we know that if there is anything the police like better than beating up poor people...it’s locking up rich people who think they’re above the law. Buy a vowel and get a clue, girlfriend, and please, please, go sit down and pretend to be invisible.

Yolanda King, eldest daughter of Martin Luther King, has passed away. Gone too soon. Rest in peace.

The Reverend Jerry Falwell has passed on too. To quote the late great Moms Mabley...”don’t say nothin’ about the dead, unless you can say somethin’ good.....he’s dead....good!”

Ten Men Talking

Well, the first GOP “debate” is over and it went well:

If you deny evolution,
if you think Ronny Ray-gun was the best president, ever, and refuse to criticize Bush, or other members of his evil cabal,
think gays and lesbians are abomination,
think stem cell research is murder,
don’t think women have enough brains to make good decisions when it comes to their own bodies,
Think Alito and Roberts will do great things from the Supreme Court bench,
think congress has a right to mess in private lives like what happened with Terri Shiavo,
continue to equate the Iraq quagmire with a war on terror,
are willing to go to war with Iran tomorrow, despite the messes in Iraq and Afghanistan,
and feel this administration is doing a good job..

They all hate Hillary and one of them (sorry, they all look alike) told Joe Scarborough that every man on stage would make a better president than Hillary Clinton. The answer also shows that she is the one they fear the most. They all ranted against Hillary health care, circa early 90's. They all took pot shots at Bill and most of them voted to impeach him. They all accused Democrats of being soft on defense.

If Hillary gets the nomination, I’m willing to bet that it will be a very negative campaign. Men turn into "mean girls" and get bitchy, when challenged by women, we all know that.

Did anyone stand out.....Mitt Romney looked presidential...but it was that idealized, calculated look of what a president should look like. Listening to him....he’s got the Joe Biden slime factor going on.

Rudy, Rudy, Rudy....got buried in the shuffle. He didn’t stand out or have a chance to stand out. He was trying to be everything to everyone. It’s not working. He doesn’t seem really interested in the job. I think he likes campaigning as long as it holds his interest, nothing more.

And if the GOP hands Rudy the nomination it will illustrate just how hypocritical republicans are when it comes to making moral judgements. Rudy’s so tainted, he should be a democrat.

John McCain....tried too hard. I think the parade has passed him by and he can’t catch up.

As for the rest of them, well, we needed some comic relief....I found myself wishing for Newt or Fred or even Arnold to jump on stage..
