All the polls....you know those conducted by the professional pollsters among likely voters come November....in other words...all those people who still have land lines, are usually over the age of 60, overwhelmingly white and non hispanic and vote republican...tallying no more than 1000 people max....

Those polls say....Democrats don't have a snow balls chance in hell of winning anything in November.

Yep...they say it's going to be just like back in the day when Barry Goldwater swept to power...Ohio is going to lose its democratic Governor....all of its democratic representatives and gain a new GOP senator.....

Obama is going to be totally embarrassed and put back in his place....yeah..that's the ticket...and then, come 2012, they are going to take back the White House, too....can ya dig it?

I got one question.....Do ya'll really think ...all 16% of you.... that all black people, all brown people, all gay people, all native Americans, and all sensible progressives are going to stay home on Election Day?

Up in Delaware...one day after Pandora climbs out of her box..... Another GOP Bimbo Eruption

The Republican Party has become Amazon Country...the party of real, imaginary women and girly men.

John McCain had absolutely no idea what he was about to start when he chose that fresh faced Sarah Palin as his running mate back in 2008. The “babe” as Mount Rushbaugh called her at the time, was totally unqualified to be tapped as a candidate for vice president, and most pundits figured her selection was merely McCain's way of giving up without having to actually say, “no mas.”

The election was a landslide that republicans continue to this day, to spin as a close race, that Palin/McCain almost won, making Palin a household name instead of relegating her to the fate of trivia question answer as is the fate of most VP's successful or otherwise.

Looking back, the only thing really new about the Palin choice was the fact that she was a real live girl instead of the girly men of recent GOP history, like Dan Quayle or George W. Except for gender, both of these less than he man types have more in common with the intellectually challenged Palin then they did with the rugged Ronald Reagan or even George the first variations on the usual vanilla masters of the universe theme.

Nobody on the GOP side cared if these dimmer than usual bulbs destroyed the world as they studied for their foreign affairs policy credentials, and they were apparently willing to let Sarah study on the job as well, witness her continuing occupation of center stage these days.

Now comes 2010, and the Bimbo Eruption is on full blast. The original and real live Bimbo having decided to make money and to play kingmaker instead of be king, proving that she may not be as dumb as we all like to think, is being cloned. The GOP is looking for a new “Sarah” that looks, acts, talks and feels exactly like the original.

Fresh out of Delaware and in competition for the seat vacated by Joe Biden comes Christine O'Donnell, the latest teabagger heart throb. O'Donnell couldn't be elected dog catcher, let alone US Senator, if you listened to the pre election hype. Yet, somehow she managed to upset a veteran republican for Biden's old seat.

Christine was endorsed by the prototype and shares similar views, meaning she is an abstinance candidate among other things, going so far as to say that masturbation should be illegal and adultery a crime.

Adultery a crime? No wonder she doesn't sit well with the regular honchos of the GOP. But Lady Sarah is happy, no doubt, since another of her “mini-mes” has emerged victorious. Wonder if Sarah will introduce Chrissy to her witch doctor? Oh wait, Chrissy had one on the podium behind her last night, except she called him her lawyer.

But it must be remembered that this is just a primary. In other words it was a family quarrel. It wasn't the battle or the war. She still has to face the “other America.” You know, those of us who don't belong in this country according to their faction of the GOP. Truth be told, she probably would not have won if the GOP members had turned out to vote, which they didn't.

Because like all of these “teabagger victories” nobody is turning out to vote. Something that the MSM fails to put into perspective. The wins are minority wins from within the minority. If 50% of those eligible took part, then it might have been significant, maybe. But in all cases...from Joe Miller in Alaska, to Sharron Angle in Nevada, to Nikki what's her name in South Carolina, to Rand Paul in Kentucky, to Carly Fiorina and Meg Whitman in California...nobody is turning out to vote...But this is normal for primaries in America. Party faithful elect the candidates, while the electorate chooses the winners.

So to recap we have the Drama Queen from Wasilla begetting Nikki Haley, the maybe adultress from the Palmetto State who begat Rand Paul the clueless from Kentucky, who begat Sharron “I see aliens everywhere” Angle from the desert, who begat Joe “please don't make me drive” Miller from Alaska, who begat Christine the giant killer from Delaware.

Hmmmmmmmmmmm....Who's in trouble in November, again?

Poor People-Caught in the Crossfire

The on-going war by white guys against the black guy in the White House....

Man, that was quick. Less than 24 hours after he who would be speaker of the house stated he was willing to compromise on tax cuts for the rich and famous, John Boehner got
knee capped by Miz Mitch McConnell.

McConnell said “hell no, we ain't gonna compromise with no democrats!” If the rich don't get a tax break, then neither will the middle class.

Damn the middle class, he said in so many words. And the truly onerous part of all this is that several Democrats are going to side with the GOP as they thumb their noses
at us.

In one weekend, we've heard “screw the middle the class,” and “no jobs bill” and we'll hold our breath and “shut down the whole government” if we don't get our way immediately.

To add insult to injury, the GOP is promising to mount Clinton impeachment-like investigations of President Obama if they are able to take control of Congress come November.

For those of you who may not remember, the Clintons both of them, spent much of their time battling false allegations hurled at them by the GOP, just because they could.
Nothing....Nothing the GOP said was true....their only intent was to paralyze government.

Trust me...it will be worse...if they officially go after Obama...given what they've been doing to him these past four years..

And then...there is this insistence on continuing Voodoo Economics...or suppy side economics...or trickle down economics...It's all the same crap no matter what you call it. I
like what Geraldine Ferraro said about it back in the day...

For those who have no clue...voodoo economics was a termed coined by the first President Bush to describe Ronald Reagan's economic plan for America...that same one that the
GOP keeps shoving down our collective throats and is destroying the country as we speak. Of course, Reagan made Bush his Vice President and suddenly Voodoo Economics became an acceptable way to screw poor people.

Trickle down, or Supply side, whatever you want to call it, theorizes that by cutting taxes...you stimulate supply of goods and products and at the same time...increase demand
for those supplies and products....These witch doctors also theorize that a market flooded with product, increases labor and keeps prices lower...

Allrighty then....while this may look good on paper....it does not work in the real world....ever...and you only have to look at the past 20 years to see that...

Reaganomics, to use the good term...worked wonders for rich people....they got the tax cuts...but rather than “trickle it down” they put in the bank and invested it for their own benefit...

Left poor people hanging and government bereft of much needed income for providing services...as a result...the government had to resort to borrowing money...which is
why we're up to our ass in alligators and in debt to China....Later for speaking Spanish..ya'll better be about learning Mandarin, it's so bad...

Under Reagan's voodoo economics....the deficit quadrupled....when Reagan actually campaigned on the promise that he would balance the budget in four years...then it was “okay” I'll do it in the next four years....Didn't happen..

Not then...won't happen now...not under voodoo econ 101....

And when you add outsourcing the American job market to other third world countries...you have complete and utter economic disaster....just like what we're going
through now...

No income to pull us out of the recession...because of the demand by the right to give tax cuts to those who don't need them...

No jobs for those who need them, because the jobs market has moved overseas and will not come back.

A government shutdown...well it may happen, if the GOP and Newt and his mini mes return to Capital Hill..

And some stupid Democrats are saying that maybe if we use supply side econ in a properly controlled situation, then maybe it will work for us...REALLY?

We have a game like that....played by idiots...it's called Russian Roulette...

I ain't suicidal....and I do know what happens when you put a gun to your head and pull the trigger...

Miz Mitch and Eric-boy Cantor want to pretend that they are really giving the tax cuts to small business, which is another bogus claim...John Boehner also admitted this during
his Sunday bubble of lucidity....Boehner admitted that only about 3% of small business would pay higher taxes under the tax plan put forth by President Obama.

THAT MEANS THAT 97% OF SMALL BUSINESS WILL GET A TAX CUT UNDER THE OBAMA PLAN....It is nothing more than “Screw Obama” by any means necessary...

John Boehner-The Man Who Would be Speaker

Wants to kill social security, medicare and medicaid...

Kill health care reform...

and extend the Bush tax cuts to the tune of trillions of dollars added to the deficit

So who is this guy? He's been called the Orange one or the Oompa Loompa from Ohio. By virtual of his own admission, he'd rather be playing golf and in fact, has two country club memberships somewhere in West Chester, Ohio. He reportedly played 119 rounds last year. Sounds like he'd rather be Tiger Woods.

There are reports circulating that if you want to talk with John Boehner after 5pm you need to go to the nearest GOP waterhole, and check the bar. Don't know about that for sure, I do know he has Dean Martin eyes, but then Dean Martin was only a fake drunk. So draw your own conclusions about that rumor.

Officially, John Boehner is the GOP House Minority Leader in Congress. He represents the 8^th District in Ohio, which is in suburban Cincinnati. He was born in Cincinnati and is one of 12 children as well as a graduate of Moeller High School when it was still an all boys school. Boehner is Catholic and conservative. Boehner told the Cincinnati Enquirer during a sit down interview yesterday, that he will kill the health care law, among other things. You can read it here.

Boehner's political career was born in a sex scandal...not his....Donald “Buz” Lukens...another GOP Congressman who couldn't keep his pants zipped. Back in 1989, while Boehner was still a state representative, Lukens got caught paying a 16 year old black girl to have sex with him. He reportedly gave her $40. A local TV station found the girl's mother and got her to confront the Congressman on camera.

At the time, the prosecutor said that Lukens had been having sex with the girl since she was 13, but he couldn't prove it, so he didn't bring the case at the time. Lukens was kicked out of Congress a few years later for accepting bribes.

Boehner won the run off for Lukens seat and has been in Congress ever since.

He's been super conservative as any good Moeller graduate would be, usually hypocritically so.

Boehner, was also party to another Republican sex scandal, when he admitted to an ethics panel knowing about Congressman Mark Foley's predilection for young male pages, almost a year before the story broke. The thing is, by this time Boehner was a member of the GOP ruling elite and in a position to do the right thing. But he didn't.

Instead of going to bat for the beleagured young pages and stopping Foley's sexual harrassment, Boehner did nothing, choosing to protect his fellow member by keeping quiet, until the story leaked.

It's interesting to note that Boehner just yesterday called for more investigation of Eric Massa the democrat who couldn't keep his hands off his male staffers. Massa has resigned, just like Foley did, back then. Massa was pushed to resign by the Democratic leadership, rather than stay quiet like Boehner and his boys did on Foley.

Since health care reform was passed by Congress, Boehner has been measuring himself against the President, seemingly testing the waters to see if the idea of a “President Boehner” would float. He's doing it covertly of course. Astute politician that he is, Boehner knows that presidential candidates have to have a personality, and a name that won't provoke instant gut busting laughter.

Speaker of the House Boehner is funny enough, but he is already measuring his office for new drapes to come after the GOP sweeps back into power in a few weeks...Boehner's prediction.

Never the less, he is making what he calls major policy addresses on the economy such as the speech he gave in Cleveland a few weeks back, where he presented his plan for economic recovery.

The Boehner Plan would cost taxpayers approximately $3.781 trillion throughout the following decade, according to the CBO (Congressional Budget Office).

This from a guy who says the deficit is already too big.

You Should Vote Republican in November

If....You believe that a party who admits it has no legislation and therefore no solution to the problem is better at governing America..

You should vote Republican in November if.....you believe this country should go to war with Iran while allowing Israel to simultaneously pull us into in a war with Palestine within the next two years, and that's before we get out of Afghanistan.

You should vote Republican in November if...... you really believe that tax cuts for the wealthiest 10^th of the American population will translate into 15 million middle class jobs instead of a trillion dollar increase in the deficit over the next generation.

You should vote Republican in November if.......you really believe that the GOP WILL force big business to bring back all those outsourced jobs to the third world and put Americans back to work.

You should vote Republican in November if......you believe that out of work Americans are lazy and can't find a new job because they're not looking.

You should vote Republican in November if......you think unemployment insurance benefits gives people a reason NOT to look for a job.

You should vote Republican in November if.....you believe that the GOP will end DADT and repeal DOMA while allowing Domestic Partner benefits to stay on the books...

You should vote Republican in November if.....you think medicare, medicaid and social security should be privatized or eliminated altogether.

You should vote Republican in November if.....you think health care reform should be repealed and 40 million Americans don't need health insurance.

You should vote Republican in November if.....you think the public school system should be shut down

You should vote Republican in November if......big business should be allowed to leverage elections in favor of the candidates who benefit business most.

You should vote Republican in November if.....you believe this really is your country and you need to take back control.

You should vote Republican if......you believe it's okay to actively discriminate against gay people until you, yourself get forced out of the closet and made to reveal your own hidden sexual proclivities.

You should vote Republican if......you believe it's okay to rail against the stimulus as not working while taking credit for it back home.

You should vote Republican if........you believe, it's okay to drink your dinner daily, patronize prostitutes, cheat on your wife, and employ wife beaters on your staff while castigating anyone else who engages in similar behavior as morally bankrupt.

You should vote Republican if.........you believe women are incapable of making their own decisions and don't deserve equal pay for equal work

White People, The Last Slaves in America

Got a question for you, white people....now that the rich elite have destroyed the middle class, what are you going to do?

There is no middle ground anymore....poor white people are back to being on equal footing with black people....just like back in slavery days in America.

Prior to 1670....poor white people were treated the same as an African slave....Then rich whites got scared.....because when you added black slaves to white indentured servants....the rich guys who owned the plantations were greatly outnumbered...

They feared the po' folks would come in the night and slit their throats and steal their property, in similar fashion to what happened in France during the beheadings in the Revolution....

So they created laws to divide and conquer....stacked the deck, if you will...convinced poor whites they were better than black people....that they were just like rich people...except for the money and property, of course...made them think they could marry their rich daughters and become just like them...wink, wink...They had white skin and were christian....not like those uncivilized non christian blacks from Africa...you can read here

And poor whites jumped at the chance to be seen as the same...not equal....never equal...because who doesn't want to better themselves...the choice is understandable....

But understand.....racism....has always really been about class....not skin color.....

The game they created back in the day is still working today...... rich  people sit back and watch poor white people...the “scum of the earth”(their words for you) do battle for them against the black African “savages”(their words for us)...

An on-going gladiator contest......you against us....them in the stands...

The tea party, the libertarian party, the AIP, the GOP and the Democrats.. for that matter are not and never were grass roots organizations....they are funded by rich people like Dick Armey, George Soros....Liz Cheney...Dick Cheney...The billionaire Koch brothers....or the Rupert Murdochs of the world...

The tea party is led by millionaires named Sarah and Glen and Rush....they don't give a damn about you...they talk for their money...they will say whatever money will have them say...

Think about it.....

They talk about tax cuts.....tax cuts for who....you've already got them....Continuing the Bush tax cuts will add a trillion dollars to the deficit and effectively bind your children and grandchildren into modern day slavery to their off spring for years and years to come....

Reagan quadrupled the deficit....Bush put the deficit into the stratosphere and nearly bankrupted the country and the world....

Spending has been out of control for years....it didn't just happen within the past two years....

Health care.....they've got it or can afford to buy it.....what about you....

Social Security....they want to do away with it.....they don't need it....they have retirement plans and golden parachutes....

Jobs....they don't need them.....they have them......you're lazy because you can't find one...and you don't need unemployment insurance...makes you lazier...

Houses.....yours is foreclosed.....theirs....they probably walked away from a mortgage or two or three...saved em some money...

Schools....they can afford the best education that money can buy....they don't need affirmative action...they have legacies....what do you have poor white people...

Perennial wars.....they don't fight them....you do.....Cheney got five deferments...said he had other priorities then protecting his country.....George W went AWOL for a year....Mitch McConnell got some mysterious discharge...hidden and secret to this day.....

Even when they join they don't serve....they have you as cannon fodder......their kids go to college...yours die in some god forsaken country on the other side of the world...sometimes killed by friendly fire....quietly buried so you never find out the truth....

NAFTA....global trade....outsourced jobs from America....the rich get richer...bigger profits....America dies....middle class disappears....

This didn't happen in the past two years....this has been going on for the past 30-40 years...

That cushion making you seemingly better than blacks is gone...you're in the same boat...as a Mexican swimming the Rio Grande to freedom...

But you'd never know it to hear you talk about it...They control you with fear....nothing more...your fear of being seen as the same as a black or brown man.....

Listen to poor whites....in the same boat as poor blacks....and what do they say.....they admit there are problems...

no jobs....no benefits....too many wars.....but they blame blacks and browns and other things..

To be sure....some whites have awakened and do understand....the ones who went after the Wall Street rich guys in their exclusive neighborhoods...rattled a few enclaves...

Scared the rich guys...but not enough....they still make huge profts while the rest of us flounder...

If we're to take any lessons from history....then it should come from the French Revolution and go after the guys behind the big iron gates....

Time to go band together on our common ground...and go after those who have always had the cake..

Time for us to eat some too...

Isn't it time for you to take the blinders off and to vote for your own self interest...rather than the rich white guy who is spitting at you like he spits at me?

Unemployment figures for September....9.6%.....compare that to 25% out of work when FDR  took over the last time the GOP screwed us big.......

And while the GOP is ramping up its efforts to screw the taxpayer....there are Democrats who are joining them in their war on the Middle Class.

Many are now saying the tax cuts will not be repealed.....I hope the pundits are wrong about this...

The White House needs to take a hard stance for a change....some things are not negotiable...ever...

Such as the welfare of the quickly disappearing Middle Class...

Vivian and the Koch Brothers

Pay No Attention to the Woman on Your TV

At first I thought I was seeing Whoopi Goldberg in drag. But when I refocused I saw that it was an actor doing an imitation of what white people think is a respectable looking Black woman. You know what I'm talking about, little or no makeup, conservative cut suit in a flashy pastel color, big straight church lady hair, dark complected, and I'd bet if we could see her feet, sensible black pumps with two inch stack heels. No Jimmy Choos, and none of that Halle Berry butterscotch skin.

The only thing missing was the church lady hat. And her name is Vivian....Vivian Washington. Not as common as Smith or Jackson, but a step up from Johnson.

Vivian Washington is the latest face of Americans for Prosperity Foundation, better known as the attack group funded by the Koch brothers.

The Koch brothers are right wing nut job billionaires who spend a great deal of money keeping America crippled and controlled by the super rich. Charles and David Koch are currently under investigation for white collar fraud.

According to investigators the Kochs have a history of routinely breaking the law, political manipulation and lying to the public to get their way with the American people. They do this simply because they can having been born masters of the universe.

The Americans for Prosperity Foundation is supposed to be a charity and is in fact exempted from paying taxes, which makes the Vivian Washington attack ad illegal.

Tax exempt organizations such as foundations and churches can't by law, cross over into politics. The Vivian Washington attack ad is all politics and nothing more.

It is an attempt to convince people to return the GOP to power. My guess is that since Vivian looks like she does, it is a direct attempt to make Black people think, the GOP is our friend, and gives a damn about us and our problems.

I hope the actor playing Vivian got paid, because the ad is not really convincing, unless you think in stereotypes or maybe have one black friend in you array of acquaintances.

Vivian made me laugh. Then she made me cry. Then she made angry because it shows just how far we still have to go to be taken seriously in this country.

Boehner wants Republicans to have credit for Iraq....Okay!

The Congressman from Oompa Loompa land, John Boehner, gave a speech yesterday, attempting to preempt the President's speech on Iraq, last night. He of the terminal orange glow billed his talk to the American Legion National Convention as a major policy address. This was Boehner's second attempt at major policy in the past couple of weeks.

We all know he expects to be Speaker of the House, come November 3^rd. After all, he's been telling us this for months, now.

Boehner wants to remind us that our president was against the surge in Iraq, and that the GOP should be given the credit for the strategy. Fine!

"Some leaders who opposed, criticized, and fought tooth and nail to stop the surge strategy now proudly claim credit for the results. One in the US House of Representatives declared the surge a failure before it was even implemented...Today we mark not the defeat those voices anticipated--but progress. Go ahead, John, take all the credit, every stinking bit of it. Today marks the first day since March, 2003 that America has not been at war in Iraq, since the NeoCons of the GOP decided to pillage the country and take down Saddam Hussein, for no apparent reason.

Oh they gave us several reasons.....from being involved in the conspiracy on 9/11....to the need to confiscate Hussein's invisible weapons of mass destruction....to bringing democracy to the Middle East and Iraq was the first country to be democratized( new word-see what the snowbilly started)......finally to Saddam is a bad guy who hates Americans and needs to die.....

No mention of Osama Bin Laden...you know, the guy who has the penthouse overlooking Central Park and hates everything American.

But the Boehner led GOP is welcome to take credit for him, too. They armed him and the Taliban, after all. The real secret in Afghanistan is that we're fighting ourselves..but that's another story for another day.

Obama should take credit for what was accomplished in Iraq. He successfully brought home the hundreds of thousands of American troops who busted their ass for us in a terrible war that never should have been. The President rightfully honored these men and women for their seven and a half years of sacrifice, while the rest of us whined and moaned over the antics of Jon and Kate plus 8 or the Mormon boy with the magic underwear named Glen Beck. We have that luxury thanks to the troops...4427 of whom will never walk this earth again...

The President also promised to take care of the veterans, a promise also made repeatedly by the GOP but rarely kept. Remember how screwed up and out of date Walter Reed Hospital was found to be in the middle of the Iraq fiasco?

Boehner and his GOP are welcome to take credit for all the phony reasons why we went there and all the stuff that followed as a result.

He is welcome to take credit for letting Afghanistan spin so out of control and into the mess it is now because of the fake war in Iraq.

The first Oompa Loompa is welcome to take credit for all the obtuse and logic defying rationales used by Bush and the rest of the GOP to justify their illegal actions.

Actions that have economically devastated this country and brought America to its knees.

So, you go boy! Jump in. While the rest of us turn the corner, you take
all the credit.

Brother Glen Beck-Gimme dat Ole Time Religion

So, now what's next. We have Glen Beck University where you can go an get your pseudo conservative, so called non racist cred on, complete with diploma suitable for framing.  Is the Glen Beck virtual online crystal cathedral next for the shock jock?

He already has enough acolytes, if his “I have a scheme” rally from this past Saturday is any indication. A CBS head count said there were 87,000 people in attendance. But Beck and company were pushing the number closer to half a million or 500,000 if you like zeros, and feeding the lie that the main stream media would downplay the true numbers, no matter what.

Whatever...there were a lot of people there....and it wasn't political, unless you count the appearance of a certain Snowbilly from Alaska braving the heat in the lower 48.

Note to Glen and Lady Sarah....since Sarah was half a governor....a vice presidential nominee...and is now playing kingmaker during the current political campaign season....you can't say your FOX funded rally and your appearance at said rally is not political.

Note to MG...Sarah, dahling...every day that you wake up is political....when you go for a run...it's political...your down syndrome baby is political....your baby momma-kid on Dancing with the Stars is political....your son in the military....who you trot out when convenient, is political.

Good ole Beck has found god, apparently, and he wants to bring him to America with an office in the White House right next to the Oval Office, complete with yea or nay say on legislation....Saturday's gathering in Abraham Lincoln's lap was an old fashioned tent revival, the likes of which would have made Sister Aimee Semple McPherson proud.

Elmer Gantr- er Beck....was pacing and talking and talking and pacing...the only thing missing was the long unruly locks of hair that Burt Lancaster used to punctuate his Gantry portrayal in the movie....and every sentence segue way started and ended with god.....Whose god.....well....let's just say it wasn't the dark skinned Muhammed or even a loving, all inclusive tanned and curly haired Jesus of the bible, who was being invoked on Saturday.

These folks are still stuck on white man jesus, that hangs in every black church in America.

I'll be honest....I kept waiting for Maceo to run in from the wings with one of James Brown's old capes and throw it on him, so he could throw it back, grab the mic and implore the crowd to “git it on the good foot, good gawd! Uhn!”

And it was a visibly multi racial gathering this time. Beck was able to con a number of black coo-, uh conservative preachers, bent on keeping the Black community ignorant and locked in the 18th century to come onstage with him.

Beck even materialized a King...as in Martin Luther....to come, too. Only it was Alveda King....I think she is a reverend.....she's another one who misreads the Bible and doesn't understand what Jesus said. Her website preaches that prosperity gospel of grab all you can, so you can buy your way into heaven....unlike Jesus who was about owning no possessions and living off the kindness of strangers.... Given the way she butchered the reading of her uncle's “I have a dream speech,” she is probably an undiagnosed dyslexic or not comfortable with teleprompters, that tool of the devil and democrats.

But what really ticked me off was her attempt to get white people to sing “Lift Every Voice.” That was an absolute embarrassment...If you were gonna go there...why not get some crowd participation chanting going on with “say it loud, I'm black n I'm proud.”

It was a travesty that mocked the very legacy that this woman claims is hers by birth, and gives credence to the lie that the rally was not political or an attempt to hijack the civil rights movement...If it wasn't a hijacking...why invoke MLK at all.....

As we say in the ghetto...ya'll know ya'll was lyin'.....

Note to Alveda (I will not call you reverend, because you are just as much of a shyster as the Shock Jock) It's not the name or the legacy that makes you great...it's what you do with that name and your actions that elevate you. We don't need you to interpret the words of your uncle and your aunt, because their words are carved indelibly on our hearts.

You can't change their words or their meaning, no matter how many times you try. And don't think we didn't notice that direct insult and slap in the face to Coretta Scott King...She was his wife, whether you like it or not.

Rest assured, baby girl...if Jesus does comes back...he won't be looking for you or your boy, Glen. So take a seat and try to be quiet until Rapture time.

22nd Annual Black Family Reunion

Pristine porta-potties.....that's what I found this past Sunday when I went to the 22nd Annual Black Family Reunion. The port-o-lets were clean...smelled good....and each had two rolls of toilet paper...

Which, despite sounding so wonderful....was a bad sign because it meant that nobody was using them...One of the best ways to gauge the success of an outdoor event is to check out the condition of the port-o-lets...if they stay in good shape all day long....chances are the expected number of people did not show up....Sawyer Point as a number of permanent public restrooms that were near the portable restroom row....but they weren't overworked either..

The party was laid out....the booths were in place...the food was cooking and smelling good....there was plenty of room to throw out a blanket for a picnic....the Universoul Circus Stilt Walkers had room to jump rope and didn't have to clear a space to do it...... nobody turned out for the 22nd Annual Black Family Reunion.... Local media trumpeted the event beginning on Friday starting off the newscast, by predicting a crowd of 100,000 expected for the two day event.....Prior to those Friday newscasts however, I didn't hear or see anything about the yearly event..

The information on the event given out by two of the television stations that I checked out were wrong....this could have been incompetent news producers....or it could have been an incompetent publicity machine for the event...Don't know....Probably a combination of both....but no pub means no nobody showing up, which is what happened.

I don't know who was keeping count, but the Family Reunion could have continued on all week and never hit the 100,000 mark in five days based on what showed up this past weekend...Nobody seemed to be counting...there were absolutely too many ways to get into the park and none of them secure, except for the main entrance.....There were men scanning with metal detectors at the main entrance...but no where else...and they weren't counting...they were scanning for weapons....which is something else that bothered me....

In the past, there were events within the community which were considered neutral ground...you checked your ego at the door and left your weapons...if you had them....at home....The Black Family Reunion was one of these events.....You went with family and you left with family and friends...safe...

Men wielding metal detectors and tons and tons of police officers testify that it's not safe to go anymore....Considering how many people were expected....the police should be there to handle the crowd......However...going into a park and having to be checked before you go....is a bit disconcerting....

Saturday the low attendance could be blamed on the rain....the day was overcast and threatening....no way to get comfortable on wet grass when you want to hold a picnic...But it didn't rain all day..nor in fact, most of the day......Sunday was a perfect day. The sun was out. The wind blew. Mother Nature turned on the AC and weather-wise it was a wonderful day for a party in the park.

But there were no crowds....there were people.....just no crowds of people. The general thought was, well Cincinnati is a church town, they will turn out when church lets out. They will be here in time to hear Regina Belle his that first note from the stage. But by 3 in the afternoon, the expected hoards of people had not shown up. The people were a late arriving bunch on both days. Many dressed as if they intended to start their evening at the Reunion and then roll into other late night activities. A number of people were seen to be very ticked off at finding out that the Reunion ended at 6pm leaving them with nothing to do for hours. Maybe it was a lack of publicity about the hour change. But people weren't happy.

My volunteer day started at 11am, I thought to give us time to set up, because in the past the Family Reunion kicked things off at noon and went until late into the evening. However upon arrival I found out that the hours had been cut. The event began at 11 and ended at 6pm, while it was still daylight. When I inquired about this, the shortening of the hours was blamed on the economy.....that the city no longer donates anything....major sponsors.....Duke Energy and Proctor and Gamble....no longer participate....although Kroger....Children's Hospital.....Fifth Third Bank....US Bank......Meijers.... and McDonalds.....seemed to find a way...I was there with the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center Museum....the only museum to show up, of the many museums that call Cincinnati home.

The Black Family Reunion felt like a shadow of its old self.....…..hollow....empty...perfunctory...not the family gathering envisioned by Dr. Height when she created it so long ago....

There were booths and booths filled with volunteers passing out information for the family, even the gay and lesbian community was represented by at least two booths which is a major accomplishment considering how usually homophobic the Black Community is Local radio station The Buzz even had a conversation going about the need for young people to get tested for HIV/AIDS, another welcome change from the normal orchestrated homophobia that dominates black talk radio as well.

I walked the whole concourse twice, from the Serpentine Wall, where the youth concert was taking place all the way over to the tennis courts at the other end, under the bridge....It was an easy walk past vendors selling stuff.....the health organizations basking in the shade of the tunnel as they checked blood pressure...gave out information about diabetes and checked people's feet for circulation problems....Stop AIDS was also in this area.....another good sign....

The Fine Arts Fund with music was also in this area.....heard some blues and reggae as I strolled here...

However with all the talk about getting healthy and the information about how to feel better in life...there is a disconnect in the Black Community that no one seems to be addressing....the food available....was mainly fried.....

Fried fish and fries.....or shrimp and fries.....or a combination of both and fries....and fried chicken wings....big wings and fries......jumbo hotdogs....corndogs.....polish sausages......fried funnel cakes.....

Found ribs and a taco truck....found two booths doling out giant smoothies....they looked healthy but portion control was obviously a problem...what I thought was a large was actually a small...big, big drinks..

I had a piece of a friend's funnel cake, because it was the biggest funnel cake that I had ever seen...the vendor could afford to be generous since the crowds and anticipated buyers were light...but that one funnel cake was shared among four people easily...

All the fried stuff was dished out in humongous portions....enough to feed two to three people off of one meal....

The smoothie booth was the busiest however...there were lines of people lining up for the drinks...which is a good sign....even if they did pair them with the big fried food entrees....way too many calories...

Overall, The Black Family Reunion was okay....that's right....just okay....an easy day for us volunteers....not a whole lot to do except sit and talk amongst ourselves...and wonder about how much longer the event will go on....

Random Thoughts....

Ground Zero Mosque.....no such thing....the planned community center has a space reserved for prayer...that doesn't make it a mosque...any more than having a cross with Jesus on it nailed to your living room wall makes your house a church....

No one is asking that NY forget what happened at the World Trade Center....but it is time to move on...because others died and  were lost in other places in America...

Being Christian or being Jewish...does not make you more American...than say an Islamic American or Buddhist American...or even a Scientology American....

The Constitution was written by men who believed in a higher power, but were not necessarily Christian...by today's definition...many of them in fact would be considered atheists...

They were okay with diversity.....

What you call that higher power is up to you....not mandated by the government...or the so called majority that is no more...

Is now apparently sliding into televangelism...I say this because the August 28^th rally in DC that was originally to take back the civil rights movement from the apparently clueless Blacks who invented it and give it to its rightful “owners” the good white people of America...has now been changed....

Beck has renamed his upcoming rally the “Glen Beck Divine Destiny” Rally.

We already have enough Divines.....The Divine Sarah, Sarah Vaughn...The late drag queen Divine and the Divine Miss M., Bette Midler....

We don't need no more stinkin' Divines....They were/are Supremely talented and deserving of their Divine appellation....

Beck....well you can decide to be as Divine as you want...but what you are really is nothing than a boy in a dress.....

This is the latest description of his rally on his website:

Dog Parks and Swimming Pools

Access...or lack thereof...is one of three reasons why Black people don't swim. In most cities of America...there are no pools in the ghetto...or if there are pools...access was limited to white people...who either made it a private club...or posted sentries at the gate to keep certain people out...

I'm not talking about way back in the day...well maybe a little...when I was born...Black people weren't allowed to swim at Coney Island...not until it was desegregated due to protests led by Marian Spencer back in 1957.

By 1967 my family had moved from Cincinnati to Mt. Healthy and I was taken out of Walnut Hills High and forced by my parents to go to Mt. Healthy High....

Even though our move was only ten miles, Mt. Healthy is a city in its own right and had its own parks and pool system.

Shortly after moving in to our new house...my sisters and I were turned away at the gate of the pool and told the park was only for residents...

We were residents....just not white residents...that apparently was the difference...Even with proof of residency, we could not get in...which is why I have never, ever been to a park in Mt. Healthy, to this day....

70% of all accidental drownings in America are Black people....The most recent having taken place in Louisiana where seven members of one family drowned in a horrific accident a few weeks ago.

Access to swimming pools is pretty good in Cincinnati. There is or was at least one pool in every neighborhood. There are also the YMCA pools all over the city.

The more recent problem has been money to keep the pools open all summer. Cincinnati has done a pretty good job of finding the funds to keep them open most of the time, too.

So with obvious need for swimming pools in the ghetto and all the common sense surrounding swimming pool access in Cincinnati, why the hell tear one out and replace it with a dog park?

I'm talking about what is going on in Washington Park, where the renovation calls for putting a dog run in the space where the kids swim. In a nod to the children, the plans call for a water play area, but that is totally different from having a place to swim, or learn to swim.

You don't learn water safety from a moving hose squirting water at you.

Why are dogs more important than the neighborhood kids? Or is the plan to move the kids out of the neighborhood along with their more impoverished parents?

You can't make me believe that there are enough foo-foo dogs moving in to justify getting rid of a swimming pool and playground...

Because what is happening is that Washington Park is being changed from a kid friendly place to a gathering place for the upwardly mobile and their four legged friends...

The pool and basketball court....are gone...or soon to be gone....The city has signed off on this travesty..and nobody seems to give a damn...

Progress...new and better ways to segregate...

Justice Kagan

Congratulations are in order for newly minted Supreme Court Justice Elena Kagan. She was confirmed by the Senate on Thursday and will be sworn in tomorrow, becoming the third woman to sit on this Court, and the fourth in history.

Kagan, who has never been a judge clerked at one time for Thurgood Marshall, the first Black man appointed to the United States Supreme Court.

With three women on the bench....let the Supremes jokes commence....and you know they're coming!

Prop 8 jettisoned

This was good week for the LGBT community with a federal judge in California striking down Prop 8. The battle is not over, however. There is an appeal in the works which will send the issue to the 9^th Circuit Court of Appeals, which will probably send it on to the United States Supreme Court for final determination.

Wonder how our President really feels about this...Obama is on record as supporting civil unions for gays, but not marriage. His congratulations on this past week's decision was tepid at best.

Yet, he needs the votes....so what's a guy to do? Hmmmmmmmmmmmm!

Stand on perverted principle that denies the rights of some citizens relegating them to second class....or agree to disagree and join the push for equality....

Only time will tell.

This story confuses me. According to the article, the government is deciding whether or not to allow genetically modified salmon to be sold to the public as food.

The salmon grows to maturity in 18 months rather than the normal 36 months.

Well, we've been eating chickens and turkeys for years that grows in half the normal time and the human population is suffering as a result...........this poultry is altered so that it grows so much white breast meat that the birds can't even walk...

yet the government is hyperventilating over fish....

Frankenfood has been with us for decades...what's new about that...
