Woman's Work

My mom has a saying about my dad....one of many since they've been together 59 years...this one refers to how he fixes things...

Now...he can fix anything...and I do mean anything...He is the reason that I love working on stuff...that gene comes from him and my mother's father...my granddad....

Their ability to put things back together when broken..warped my thinking about men for a long time...because I grew up thinking that all men could fix anything...just give them a screw driver, some nails and a hammer...and BAM.....fixed and functioning...

Imagine my surprise when I grew up and found that most men don't know which end of the screw driver to use.....can't tell channel locks from pliers or a socket wrench from a pipe wrench...

I was absolutely shocked when one of my best buddies pulled me aside one night after we were talking with a group of people during which I referred to a stick shift car....he didn't know what I was talking about...so he asked me privately to keep his man cred in tact...

You know what man cred is all about...appearing to know everything about anything and faking it if necessary...

Anyway....my mom has always said about my dad that he always does things twice...he fixes it...then he fixes it right....she says I'm the same way....

I disagree with that statement, since I do read the instructions first....My dad does too...but don't tell anyone because he wants to keep his man cred in tact too...

We have a whole government full of men who can't fix anything.....and refuse to read the directions, scan the public opinion polls or face the reality of which way the wind is blowing....

They've spent their entire congressional careers faking their concern for the American people as they laugh all the way to the bank, after pocketing the money thrown at them by slimy lobbyists.

Which brings me around to my topic....Maybe the men of the GOP need to step aside...while their man cred is still in one piece, albeit hanging by a thread... and let the women of the GOP take over..

I'm not talking Sarah or the Cheney siblings...I'm talking Olympia...

Olympia Snowe grabbed the reins yesterday in the Health Care Reform act....It wasn't a republican thing...it wasn't a democratic thing.....

It was a woman thing that she did, in looking out for others...

Possibly at the sacrifice of her politics.....I don't think she will lose her seat....but the good ole boys of the GOP....jealous at being disobeyed and upstaged by one of their women...will probably make her life miserable for this one vote...

I''m sure they're grumbling that she should have stayed quietly in her place ....like where they want to put Nancy Pelosi....

“How dare those women talk back to us!”

With one vote, she moved the conversation forward...closer to conclusion....It's not done yet...but it's no longer stuck in neutral.....

The process will continue to work...thanks to Olympia Snowe...who remembers why she was sent to Congress....as well as who she really works for...

Short Sighted GOP

Do the Republicans REALLY want to filibuster Obama’s stimulus Package?

It’s time for Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi to grow some cojones and get tough about this stimulus package. The GOP members of congress have obviously forgotten the part they played in creating this mess in the first place.

They still think that tax cuts are the answer to everything....even after it’s been shown that is stupid economics. They still think the Americans are dumb and listening to them about what is best for us.

Their philosophy has trashed the middle class..we're losing our homes....we’ve lost our pensions...our savings....our jobs....and our kids and grandkids and great grandkids are going to have pay for this mess....

And they still think we are turning to them for guidance?

The GOP has absolutely NO CREDIBILITY...NONE! Yet they act as if they won the election.. They act as if they are still in the White House and in control....

As for Mr. President.....he didn’t grow up in a black neighborhood.....so he may not readily recognize what is happening in Washington.....

THE GOP IS TRYING TO PUNK, HIM! THEY THINK HE IS SOFT...AND THAT THEY CAN GET OVER ON HIM....

This is the time that you have pull up your drawers and kick ass....plain and simple....or spend the rest of your life running from these fools...

Beat one....you’ve beaten them all.....Take McConnell behind closed doors and dare him to call a filibuster....then arrange a news conference to tell the American people what is happening...then schedule a news conference for McConnell..

And let him explain it to the American people...as to why we don’t need the help that Wall Street and his rich friends do....

Dubya Wins Again

I’ve got a question........What difference does it make if we throw the dummy out of the White House, when congress continues to rubber stamp his abusive policies and validates his blatant disregard for our constitution.

I’m talking about the passage of FISA, the foreign intelligence surveillance act. This act allows the government to spy on Americans without having to show proof and get a warrant first. This act also exempts the big telecom companies from lawsuits from citizens for the illegal spying that has been going on since 9/11. Makes me want to send Verizon my cell phone and tell them which orifice to stick it up. Pay as you go cell is looking better and better everyday.

Obama voted for this garbage. Hillary voted against it. I don’t think McCain knows what it is. He’s too busy making jokes about killing Iranian civilians.

The thing that ticks me off about Obama is that I heard him say he would vote for it, then look at it later for revision, I guess after he is in the White House. Hell, why put it into effect at all? Why not vote it down in the first place. He is still a Senator, after all. And there is no guarantee he is going to make it to the White House for a second look in the first place.

That’s procrastination, bro...a terminal illness among my brothers of a similar color. Obama still has my vote, but I’m not a happy camper today.

Anyway...I've said it before, and I will say it again....

After we change the White House, we need to clear out Capital Hill, starting with Nancy Pelosi and that absolutely worthless majority leader, Harry Reid.
