Enough with the Fluff

Let’s get back on Point, shall we........I was going to comment about why Sarah Palin’s selection as a vice presidential candidate amounts to little more than peripheral B. S., but somebody’s already put up a website.

I can’t say it any better...so...check it out for yourself:

http://www.sarahpalinisnthillaryclinton.com

In my readings today, I came across an article that states even Palin’s mother in law isn’t sure what she brings to the national stage or why McCain chose her:

http://www.nydailynews.com/news/politics/republican_race/2008/08/30/2008-08-30_sarah_palins_motherinlaw_uncertain_about.html

And then there is the story about the two biggest newspapers in Alaska...neither of whom considers Palin qualified to be Vice President, let alone commander in chief..

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/greg-mitchell/2-top-alaska-newspapers-q_b_122625.html

It’s weird when the hometown newspapers won’t support the native son, or in this case daughter...

Late breaking stuff today...More of McCain's obvious forgetfulness...

I do believe we have stepped off into the twilight zone.

One other thing caught my eye today....Cindy is offended that Obama keeps talking about her husband’s houses....She never defended her husband...she took it as a slap against her father...her dead father...the one who left her the 100-million dollars...and who was a convicted felon..actually served time in jail.......Lady has her priorities in order...

Question: Why wasn’t the McCain adopted daughter on the PEOPLE magazine cover? Why is she never mentioned...did they unadopt her?....send her back to Mother Teresa?

Just asking..

Hey John! It’s Not Just Hillary....

It’s ALL women, dude! The same people who hate Hillary and don’t want a woman president...are not gonna put a neophyte female within a heartbeat of the red phone.

Dude...what were you thinking? You’re 72 years old...happy birthday..BTW (that’s by the way, since you don’t know computer)....You’re almost at your biblical allotment of time on this planet...your ticker is slowing down....people question whether you can handle it because of your age and forgetfulness....

And you choose a woman as running mate?

Smacks of desperation to me....your vicious attacks on Obama haven’t given you the bounce the little rovies told you, you would get. The details of your policies are a wee bit sketchy. I know man, it’s hard to cram...I had trouble doing it when I was studying econ....and the fact you never studied in the first place and now rarely pay attention to what’s going on....I’m sure your head is swimming in this brave new century...

I know, I know....You’re trying to keep the “Cindy” effect going....she takes care of you...pays for your houses and buys you those expensive ferragamo loafers...she wants you to look good and prosperous.

Compared to her...I can understand why you think anyone making less than 5-million dollars is just middle class.

Do you get free beer too? I read somewhere where she had a Clydesdale statue on the lawn instead of a jockey.

So you chose Governor Palin to take care of you and draw out the monolithic female voting block. All those soccer moms in the Midwest...those upward climbing middle management multitasking superbabes in the west...and those frustrated Hillraisers in the east...spurned by your opponent.

I’ll bet you think they’re all just dropping their drawers, waiting with baited breath to see you get to the White House now that you’ve chosen a female running mate.

Wow, If governor Palin had been black.....maybe you would’ve pulled people like me...black and lesbian women....

Nahhhhhhhhhhhhhh! That’s too much to hope for.

But John, choosing a woman running mate is sooooooooooo 20th century....Didn’t Mondale do that already....and I don’t recall a President Mondale anywhere in history....and I actually like Geraldine...not Flip....Ferraro...

And, John, what about this war thing.....is she qualified to command our troops...will our allies talk to her? Oh, I my bad....your buddy George has chased away all of our allies...We stand proudly alone in this universe, right now.

John, there are still the problems of all those bothersome female issues.......equal pay, health care, child care, education.....

Is Governor Palin gonna change your mind. Or is it just more of the same..Stand behind your man and shut up, unless I remember you’re there, and ask you a question or volunteer you to model a bikini or something....

I don’t know what I’m gonna do, John, I was all prepared for Max Headroom...I even had my subject line already picked out.......The Manchurian candidate Meets Max Headroom...

I guess I’ll have to file it away for another day..

Well, John...Happy birthday, again...you take care of yourself...get in a good nap in coming days...you’re gonna need it...

Rock Star Bill

If Bill Clinton was a rock star, he would have ended up underneath a mountain of panties after his speech tonight. It’s easy to see why he gets any woman he wants. The sexy MF.

His power was on full display as he threw his support behind Barack Obama, tonight. Hillary’s speech last night, in sports parlance, may have been a home run in some people’s minds, but Bill hit a grand slam out of the park and over the wall.

Bill gave the speech that everyone has been waiting for. He systematically dismembered the GOP, George Bush and John McCain. He cut so deep, they probably don’t even realize that they are bleeding yet.

I’ve been mad at Clinton since South Carolina. I guess, hurt, because until that point he had my undivided attention and support. I wanted Hillary to win because I wanted more of Bill in the White House. But then he said what he said. I got mad. And even after, he didn’t make it any better. He continued to place his foot in his mouth and to seemingly denigrate Obama, unfairly.

But we all know Bill...He is that dude who can get any woman, be friends with any man......screw both and smile all the while he’s doing it. He is the kind of guy who ticks you off...but then comes back and does something that makes you smile, charms you and tells you he didn’t really mean it.

The teflon-coated S.O.B....nothing sticks to him....ever...or at least forever...You can’t stay mad at him..even when he deserves it.

After Clinton’s speech tonight, all Barack has to do is follow the arrows through the plan, give it an Obama spin and make us happy.

Hillary

I’ve just got to ask.....are Hill-Billy on John McCain’s payroll?

I was so underwhelmed at her speech last night that I decided to write this morning rather than go with my feelings immediately after. However, waking up, I’m still not feeling her. I truly believe she wants democrats to win in November...But I think she is still ticked off at Obama for crashing her assumed triumphal march back to the White House.

She hit all the right notes...fired the correct buzz words...slammed McCain with a good catchphrase...”No way, No how, No McCain.”

Hillary said she is supporting Obama and I think she will. But I guess what I’m missing is the passion...the emotion...the fervor that signifies intent.

The speech was lackluster. I kept waiting for the punch line that was never delivered. When she finished, all I could think was.....Is that all there is?

She came across to me as someone merely doing her duty....like a supportive wife, going along with the program for the sake of the kids.

Bill, sitting in the audience silently mouthing “I love you,” looked about as genuine as some of his recent remarks to reporters when they asked him to endorse Obama. He still won’t even say that Obama is qualified for the job.

Bottom line....the Clintons still appear to be sulking and in shell shock from having the rug pulled out from under their re-coronation.

I hope that the media will let them fade into the background. Obama will be better for it. His campaign to date, has shown that he doesn’t need Clinton approval.

Maybe the MSM will get that and stop asking for it.

Fannie’s Dancin’ in Heaven

Last night, I listened to the next First Lady of the United States of America and man, that woman is sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo fine. The words to describe her are just too mediocre. She was elegant, classy, confident, emotional, mesmerizing, engaging....totally, totally together. I’m in love!

Wow!

Listening to Michelle made me recall all of the conventions that I’ve watched or attended. Thinking about the women who had taken the podium, some of them going on to become first lady. Some of them there simply to speak and support the candidate of the hour.

Last night, prior to Michelle, Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi spoke and other than wearing a wonderful white suit, she failed to hold my interest.

Michelle’s sister in law, Barack’s younger sister also spoke. Gorgeous woman. Poised. Wonderful voice. Oratory ability obviously runs in that family.

But it was truly Michelle’s night. She followed Ted Kennedy and for a moment I wondered if she was up to following him. She was. A couple of sentences in and I forgot Teddy..no offense intended.

I was at Madison Square Garden in 1980 when Ted conceded to Jimmy Carter. I consider his speech that night to be one of the greatest political speeches I’ve ever heard. So he is no pushover to follow.

Michelle made me think of Fannie Lou Hamer, a voting rights worker who would not be denied. She was from Mississippi, the youngest of 20 children and the granddaughter of slaves. She was the first to penetrate my immature psyche and awaken my unquenchable thirst for politics. I watched her at the Democratic Convention in 1964. I was fourteen at the time and the convention was the only thing on TV, I was watching. Ms. Hamer was the leader of the Freedom Democrats, a group that challenged the seating at the convention of Mississippi’s all white delegation.

Ms Hamer faced down the likes of LBJ, Hubert Humphrey, Walter Mondale, J Edgar Hoover on a compromise seating arrangement that was even endorsed by Martin Luther King Jr. The compromise would’ve given the Freedom Democrats just two seats in the delegation. Hamer lost the argument. But the confrontation ultimately led to a change in rules on seating.

My fourteen year old brain didn’t recall much of what she said. I do remember this round brown woman talking tough to all those white men and not being afraid when she did it. She wasn’t havin’ any of their B.S. and she told em so. It was 1964. I remember the emotion that welled up in me. The pride of seeing that “illiterate woman” as President Lyndon Johnson called her, stand up for blacks in Mississippi and blacks in general;

"We didn't come all the way up here to compromise for no more than we’d gotten here. We didn't come all this way for no two seats, 'cause all of us is tired."

"I am sick and tired of being sick and tired."-Fannie Lou Hamer’s epitaph

Michelle touched on that same pride last night. Made me think of Shirley Chisolm, the first black woman elected to congress, a founding member of the Congressional Black Caucus and the first black woman to have her name placed in nomination for the democratic candidate for president. This was back in 1972. I was 21 at the time. The first year I was eligible to vote for president. It was symbolic. Ms Chisolm was supported by a diverse group of people including the National Organization for Women. George McGovern went on to take the nomination. I voted for George, but I’ll never forget Ms. Chisolm.

Recent first ladies with the exception of Hillary, have been stepford wives....frozen smiles...no substance...non-engaging....cold.....Michelle is definitely not in that mold.

She is real. The kind of woman you can be friends with. Did I say I’m in love? Yeah...well, I’ll say it again...I’m in love with Michelle...I hope she makes it to the White House!

An Open Letter to Barack

Dear Senator Obama,

In the beginning, I was not a supporter. I was not a believer, preferring to find comfort in my love for the Clintons, mainly Bill. Hillary, despite being a Senator, was not really on my radar. After all, I live in Ohio, and she was not my senator. She was just the wife of the last president I liked.

I heard your speech four years ago, when you burst onto the scene at the Democratic convention. I got chills when you talked. Didn’t know you from Adam, but you touched me then, for the first time.

When you declared for president, I was skeptical. I liked you, but not enough to support you. I was a Hillary girl. I thought she knew the questions and had the answers that I wanted to hear from my representatives. I also didn’t think a black man had a snowball’s chance in hell of being taken seriously enough, by black people, let alone whites.

I felt and still feel that whites, or I should say, many whites who take issue with you, do so because of color and inborn prejudices that “we” are somehow never up to the task of leading. The racists are the ones who are honest about these feelings. I’m not mad at them. They are, what they are. They can change. Judging by your poll numbers, a lot of them have changed.

Alleged liberals and the enlightened who are horrified by the racist label, are the ones who need to get real. We all have prejudices against others. We make change when we admit this and go on toward the common goal. We still haven’t done this, yet, as a country. The apology from Congress was a beginning. Your candidacy is a start. Your winning will not be the end, only another step on a very long journey.

I remember listening to your speech on race in my car on the radio. I sat in the parking lot of Circuit City in a rain storm with tears in my eyes, the emotion so strong that it’s welling up in me now as I write this. I called my sister in South Carolina after you finished...still in the car in the parking lot. She’d listened too and told me that she goes to church with the young woman you talked about in your speech. They are friends.

Inadvertently, you drew closer to me and you don’t even know me. That day, I wholeheartedly changed my allegiance. I was already leaning when Caroline Kennedy became a supporter. I lived Camelot and like all good memories, I want them back. I wanted to feel good about this country again. I haven’t felt good about this country since the days of the Kennedys. Clinton came close, and I think that is what led me to Hillary in the beginning.

Now you have the nomination (or will, officially, later this week). You have it because we, the people want change. We hear you and believe that you are the beginning of change. We can’t take another four years, yea even another year of the stuff running off capital hill in Washington.

What I need now is to know how you intend to affect the change that you have begun. Your selection of Joe Biden is a good thing. Let him do the attack dog thing on McCain. Let McCain hang himself, as he has done, over and over with his Rovian attacks on you. If McCain were really listening to the stuff coming out of his mouth, albeit written by others, he might not be saying it. I think his campaign speaks volumes about the kind of president he would be and therefore not worth my support. I’m glad you haven’t stooped all the way down to his level. But I do think you need to fight back. The Bulls couldn’t get past Detroit in the playoffs until they learned to play Piston basketball. You know that. You can play with a dog without getting dirty. It can be done. But let Joe do it. You need to sharpen your message.

Is there something you can do on January 20th....I don’t know....an executive order, maybe..repealing the Patriot Act..to show us you mean business about change....How about abolishing the Department of Homeland Security...

How about closing Guantanamo and restoring Habeas Corpus and Posse Comitatus.

How about sending the message that leadership in the House and Senate needs to be changed, Walking wastes of oxygen like Pelosi and Reid need not apply.

How about giving us a Justice Department for all the people, not just politically appointed hacks.

How about bringing back General Colin Powell or the likes of Madeleine Albright to help you out of this mess.

Your campaign keeps getting compared to Camelot...how about a New Deal to jumpstart things like work and jobs for people who don’t have them. How about programs like some type of peace corp to work nationally and internationally to bolster our reputation with our neighbors.

I would really like to see a revamp of the Veterans Administration. I don’t for the life of me understand why Vets have to go through what they do, after coming home from protecting us. In my mind, if you’re a Vet, all you need to do is to present your ID at any hospital, to any doctor, any dentist, whoever...and get treatment. Paperwork not necessary. It should be our way of thanking them for what they do for us.

The GI Bill built the middle class in this country...how about rolling out a new version to help the guys and girls mired in Iraq and Afghanistan..

I can go on and on and on, but I won’t. There are thousands of things that need to be done now and in the near future. I understand you have to be elected first. I think that is going to happen.

As a people, we need honest effort...from you and from those you choose to help you. The lies and prevarications of the past eight years must be relegated to the past. Open communication between the president and the people is what is needed.

We believe.....Now make it so...

Puma Petulance

I do have something in common with the PUMA PAC. In case you don’t know, these are the old bats who are still trying to get Hillary Clinton nominated for president, (PUMA is an acronym for Party Unity My Ass- thanks Jack Cafferty) Don't know if he made it up or not..but it works for my purposes.

What I have in common, besides gender and age, with these overwhelmingly white middle aged women is anger, extreme anger. I am absolutely livid at them and their unrelenting determination to hand this election to the republicans. I’m not rich like them. I’m not protected by a brow beaten master of the universe or a captain of industry who shields me from the harshness of the real world so that I can dabble at life. I can’t afford another four years of GOP mismanagement.

It’s not like Hillary is the first woman to run for president or would even be the first woman to have her name placed in nomination for president. The late congresswoman Shirley Chisolm was the second, back in 1972. Hillary would be the third. Chisolm, for all of you historically challenged individuals was a black woman who demonstrated a decided knack for working across the aisle, usually in a color blind fashion. She was also the first black woman elected to Congress and she served seven terms. Hillary’s not quite that experienced, yet.

Placing Clinton's name in nomination is not like we’re making new history, here. And, it’s not as if placing her name in nomination is going to get her nominated in 2012, either. The one lesson that seems to be coming out of this election season is that Hillary is not electable, now or ever.

Her vote to go to war in Iraq...her assumption that she would be the nominee, in the first place and Bill’s arrogance in trying to force it down the throats of the rest of us has pretty much killed Hill’s chances. Maybe Chelsea will have a chance in about 20 years. But Hillary’s quest is pretty much DOA.

What really knotted my drawers is that these babes are planning a candlelight march and vigil on August 25th in Denver, during the democratic convention, to dampen Obama’s party and to show their slavish support for Hillary. They’ve co opted Maya Angelou’s poem RISE as their theme. I guess because Maya is a Hillary supporter.

The announcement on their website is expecting millions of people to support them in Denver as well as around the country with simultaneous, mirror commemorations/celebrations. Well, I don’t know if that’s going to happen, because it seems to me that if there were really that many people supporting Hillary then her campaign debt would be retired by now. Especially since she’s been sending emails for weeks now, asking for a dollar to five dollar donations...Some of them...the last one I got, in fact...was from Bill asking me to send in five dollars.

Face it....Hillary blew it. She mismanaged her campaign....her money...and her husband...He was definitely not an asset. I enjoyed the Clintons’ time in the White House, and for a time I wanted them back. But not after the racially tainted campaign they’ve just run...their refusal to fully support the nominee...or their half assed attempts to aid in the unification of the democratic party. If they really cared about this country...there would be no roll call on Hillary.

That would send a clear message to the puma-ites to get real and over it...or to go ahead and renew their memberships in the republican party....where these selfishly self centered women are obviously more comfortable.

What’s Up Girl? Not Gettin’ Any?

Ricki Lieberman is a bitter, bitter woman. She is a wealthy upper West Side New Yorker and democratic fundraiser, who is pissed off that Hillary is not going to get the Democratic Nomination. That’s okay. She has a right to be mad. She has a right to prefer Hillary over everyone else.

The 61 year old is actively trying to convince superdelegates or S.Ds, as she calls them in her avalanche of daily emails, to change their minds and give Hillary the nomination at the convention in Denver. While I applaud her initiative, I am appalled by her tactics and the contents of some of these emails.

They are vile, filled with all the lies and innuendos currently floating around the internet and main stream media about Barack and Michelle. Among other things she compares BO as she calls him to Hitler. She attempts to link him to Farakhan. She even quotes stuff dreamed up by the master prevaricator and peripheral bullshit artist, Karl Rove. All lies. I can't fathom the level of viciousness that I’ve read, but I have seen it the gay community from women who won’t take “no” for an answer. So what...does she have a crush on Hillary? Is it unrequited misdirected love? Don’t know. Hillary has already officially disavowed this woman.

Lieberman, no relation to Joe, claims she is merely trying to get the best candidate nominated and into the White House. However, she is recommending that campaign donors withhold funds from Obama and either vote for McCain or stay home, if Hillary is not given the nomination. She claims that Hillary would be up by 20 points over McCain if she’d been victorious in the primaries.

Now, I knew some women were ticked off. I’ve even written about these women in earlier posts.. They were holding Obama responsible for sexist comments by some MSM reporters, anchors and commentators. Obama can’t control these people any more than I can. I thought that these women would come to their senses after they examined McCain’s long and lengthy voting record excoriating women and women’s rights. His votes are 100 percent against anything female. That includes reproductive rights, health, welfare, child care, schools, you name it. If it doesn’t benefit rich white men he is against it, period. His condescending visit to the NAACP today not withstanding. I will get to that in another post shortly.

I have tried to keep race out of this. But from the emails it is obvious that this may be her other problem. Some of the most virulent racists that I have crossed in my five decades have been so called liberals. People who say they don’t see color, but their actions speak volumes, especially when they think people of color are not listening. The New York Daily News called this woman a fanatic preferring to steer away from the “R” word.

But I’m not. I’m going to call it what it feels like...what it is......The bitch is a racist. She is apparently so blinded by her hatred that she doesn’t see what she is doing, which is handing America another four years of Bush via John McCain.

Cutting off ones’ nose to spite one’s face is just plain stupid.

Other blogs that have already written on this character assassination campaign are asking readers to email this woman directly. I agree. Check her out on her website: clintondems.com and then if what you’ve read, bothers you, email her and tell her how stupid she is. Maybe if enough of us inundate her with mail like she’s done to some of us, then maybe, just maybe she will come to her senses...Probably not...but we can only try...

icount@clintondems.com, or rrlieberma@gmail.com, or rrl3333@gmail.com

The Huffington Post and Rootswire.org got into more detail. Check those out too.

Freeze Frame Moment, Pass the wine, Please!

WHOOOOOOOOOOIEEEEE!

Someone said it......”the only game we can’t win...is the one we don’t play!’

WE PLAYIN’ POLITICS BAY BEE!

Now that I’ve gotten that out of my system, I will go back to masquerading as a responsible adult.....

Watching history unfold in real time has got to be the ultimate high. Whether or not it’s good or bad, it’s a gas. I always remember what I was doing when that moment happens. The time just freezes forever in my mind.

Last night was one of those nights. Barack Obama, a black man, clinched the democratic nomination for president of the United States. I will always remember last night, because I never believed it would happen in my lifetime.

It remains to be seen if he will become president. Feels like he will, but you never know until the final votes are counted, and we’ve still got 22 weeks to go before that happens.

Last night, as Obama was embracing his destiny, John McCain was seeking to find his relevance. It is ironic that he chose as his slogan, a phrase that does little to define himself but does point a beacon at his opponent.

“A Leader we can believe in..” I saw that phrase and at first thought I had tuned into the wrong speech.

It’s going to take more than just reciting the buzz words...economy, health care, security, Iraq. There has to be some substance behind the words. I have problems with a man seeking the presidency who has already said he doesn’t understand the economy. McCain says the “hundred years in Iraq” was a misquote...is that true of the “I don’t understand the economy,” statement, too. And what about women's issues?

Belief is what America is clamoring for. We need heroes again. Larger than life people who don’t seem to be only in the game for themselves. People who have the ability to see between the lines and are versatile enough to create or attempt to create something for all of us.

Which brings me to Hillary Clinton. Let me be honest. She ticked me off last night. Instead of being magnanimous in defeat, she chose to be petty. She chose to play the spurned woman...”not tonight, honey, I’ve got a headache..” Please! What the hell are emails from other pissed off white women going to do?

Yes, the media mistreated her. Any woman who plays games with the old boys, in any male dominated arena, gets manhandled...verbally and physically. All women who have dared to challenge men on what they consider their turf gets abused. Doesn’t make any difference what level, blue collar, white collar..any industry. Been there, done that.Get over it. Hillary knew going in that it was going to happen.

Clinton lost the nomination because of a badly run campaign, her inability to control her husband, and the arrogance in assuming that she had the undivided support of the black community.

Last night showed me again that she was out for herself, and for Bill, giving him an unofficial third term in office. I want the good times back, too, but not with Bill. Not after the stuff coming out of his mouth the past year and a half.

The current administration has spent the past eight years scaring us into submission. I’m ready for an administration that presents us with a different message and a look into the future.

One last thing...I’ve been saving a bottle of Bordeaux , a 1955 Chateau La Fleur Pomerol, for my 60th birthday in a couple of years. But if Obama wins the White House, I will drink it in November on election night.

If you’re in town, drop by....I will be happy to share. So let the celebration begin.

Gender Based Politics

The other night, I listened to an interview of some woman who is apparently part of a new political group, made up of women who intend to vote for John McCain, if Hillary doesn’t get the nomination from the Democratic party.

She cited gender bias by Democrats, as well as male chauvinism, as her main reasons for going GOP. She included Obama in the good ole boys club because of some of his remarks, directed at Hillary. The fact that he is male doesn’t help matters either.

I have said repeatedly since this campaign season opened a thousand years ago, that I was initially a Hillary supporter. I am exhilarated by the idea of having a woman in the White House. Because God knows we can’t screw it up any worse then men have done for the past several hundred years.

However, I think a person with a different point of view, a different way of looking at things is what this country needs to get it back on track, because we are very much off track and out of sync with the rest of the universe. We need our karma back.

I said in earlier writings, unfortunately, I don’t think Hillary is the one. Her votes in congress for the past several years have been status quo.....nothing new earth shaking or direction changing. I would venture to say that if Obama were not in the race, the Democratic primaries would have mirrored in looks and sound, the GOP. We would be hard pressed to tell the difference and three million new voters would not have stepped forward to participate in the primaries.

No one talked about change until Obama did. No one excited young people until Obama. No one included Gay and Lesbians in the main stream conversation, until he did. I think the only reason that main stream gays, read that main stream white gays, support Hillary is because the boys can’t look past her Diva-ness. Obama said there should be an end to “don’t ask, don’t tell” in the military. If I recall correctly, “don’t ask, don’t tell,” was a Bill Clinton thing. Did Hillary speak out against that, during or after the White House? Is she talking about it now? Or is she still settling for cheap shots?

When was the last time you saw 73,000 people turn up for a rally for a presidential candidate? It happened this past Sunday, in Oregon, for Obama.

But back to these women who intend to vote for McCain if Hillary is denied the nomination. I want you to really understand where I’m coming from. At one point in 2000, I actually considered voting for John McCain because he seemed to be a new type of republican. Shortly after I made that decision, he started pandering to the extreme right wing of his party and echoing Dubya. Soured my stomach and drove me screaming back to the democrats. As bad as the democrats are, there is at least some hope within the party, that a person like me, female, black and lesbian, can count for something.

Voting for McCain is like cutting off your nose to spite your face, to use an old cliche. McCain’s votes in Congress are 100% anti female. If he should make it to the White House, he will probably appoint the next Supreme Court Justice who would probably then vote to overturn Roe v. Wade. And we could still use and amendment guaranteeing equal pay for equal work, since women still make 75-cents for every man made dollar. Won’t happen if McCain gets into office. This White House, this GOP and yes, John McCain have gone out of their way to deny women’s rights on every front, not just the absolute, inalienable right to choose.

Based on policy alone, I can’t understand how women could even consider voting GOP in November. Yeah, I wanted Hillary, too. I want a woman in the White House. But this is not the time. It is apparently Obama’s time. And I’m okay with that.

Obama is the not answer by any stretch of the imagination. He is only the beginning. Intelligent women can’t help but see that.

Straight Talk Expressed

Hillary’s latest argument for claiming the nomination for president is that white people, poor and blue collar white people, that is, simply won’t vote for a black man. The latest poll numbers seem to bear this out.

She is playing the race card in a last desperate act this late in the campaign season. But is she a racist for saying this? No, she is not. She is a realist. Probably more real than any other white person, alleged pundit or news person talking about this campaign.

I agree with her to a point....I am very pessimistic about how white people are going to vote in the general election in November. Saturday Night Live alluded to this in their opening skit last night. It was nervously funny...everyone laughed, but nervously, like what was said was hitting home.

But I think, unlike Mrs. Clinton, that Barack Obama has earned the chance to find out. He has run the better campaign. He has won the primaries, caucuses and hearts of the party faithful and those others who have turned out to vote in the run up to November.

His message is more positive. It is different from what has been seeping out of that cesspool called Washington, for the past eight years.

Hell, Obama’s message is even different from what the Clinton’s gave us during their eight year run. They made us feel good, but they didn’t fix anything and in some cases, they made it worse.

Personally, I think a different kind of president would send a message to congress that it is time to think about the American People, not just lining their individual pockets. I would love to just drop a bomb on Capital Hill and start from scratch.

Bush could not have accomplished any of his wrong/illegal policies and programs if congress had not caved in to him. Congress was set up to prevent any occurrence or possibility of an imperial presidency. This Congress has obviously chosen not to read or uphold the Constitution.

This congress has been nothing more than a rubber stamp for policy that has literally gutted America.

We are not as strong, we are not as well off or safe, we are not as rich, we are not as independent and we are not as respected as in the past.

I want us as a nation to start thinking about what is good for us, rather than what is good for the rest of the world.

We need to return jobs to America. Our greatest minds are finding their way to Singapore and China or other ports in Asia along with the blue collar jobs that are being outsourced so corporate America can have bigger profit margins. Our government is borrowing heavily from China and Japan to prop up the faltering American dollar.

Bush’s idea of an economic move was to beg...BEG Saudi Arabia to help us get more oil. Does that sound like the act of a true superpower to you?

And speaking of superpowers....hasn’t Russia reinvented itself? Or is everyone paying too much attention to the fiasco in Iraq to have noticed? I thought Condi was fluent in Russian as well as an expert in eastern block affairs.

We need to rebuild our infrastructure....make our public transportation systems better and user friendly as a means of weaning us off foreign oil.

We need to rebuild our public schools. Johnny can’t read, can’t write, doesn’t know history, science or mathematics.

We need to stop propping up countries who then turn around and bite us in the ass. Since World War I, losing to us was the best way to get your country rebuilt. Iraq is just the latest example of this.

More than a new president, we need a new direction. One where America works again for it’s people. America can no longer afford to be the playground for old assed neocons who are comfortable standing by while their corporate buddies rape and pillage this country.

The people who have so far voted for Obama realize this. I hope that those who have yet to cast a vote, will listen to the winds of change and take a stand, for what is still the greatest country on the face of this earth.

Jeremiah

I’ve been trying to tune out the rhetoric of this never ending campaign. I’ve made up my mind and am ready to cast my vote and get on with my life. When last I checked in, Hillary was, and continues to sound desperate. Barack seems to be bending whichever way the political wind blows. He must try and please everybody in order to get elected. And as we all know, you just can’t please everybody.

The campaign has gotten ugly, very ugly, and my feeling is that it will only get worse.
This current trend toward debaseness(is that a word?), has revealed how utterly power hungry are the Clintons. They seem willing to try anything to bring down Obama and regain the White House.

And then there is the Reverend Jeremiah Wright...

I’ve heard the sound bites...for those of you who don’t know...a sound bite is a piece of something...usually 15-30 seconds long....used on news shows to tell the viewer a little about the person involved in the story being presented. Sound bites were typically used to add life to a story....to cut down on what is called the “talking head” syndrome....meaning someone is sitting there, or standing there, reading at you...

Sound bites can be good when used correctly. However, they can also be used to paint slander or libel the person portrayed...When I worked as a news reporter, we were very, very careful about what we used and how we used it.

As I said, I’ve heard the sound bites pulled from the sermons of the Jeremiah Wright, and being a former investigative reporter, I went back and found the whole sermon, or sermons....After listening to the entire speech...heck...after listening to just the paragraph from which the sound bite was taken...The American News media owes Reverend Wright an apology, period.

I will even go so far as to say that Obama needs to apologize, too. I realize he was covering his ass and while he did distance himself from Wright, he did not sever his friendship. But he did play the game and continues to call Rev. Wright’s speeches unwholesome and un-American. Obama should apologize.

It’s been said that Oprah stopped going to Rev. Wright’s church because she felt uncomfortable with his teachings. I don’t know if this is true. But I will say that if Oprah is uncomfortable with what he said, then maybe she needs to look at why she is uncomfortable. Is money more important than the truth? I’m just asking.

Because after listening to ALL of the sermons of the Righteous Reverend Jeremiah Wright, I have to say...He didn’t lie. He spoke truth and as we all know...

America cannot handle the truth when it comes to itself and it’s actions against non white, non protestant peoples.

If you don’t like this statement, then go back and read our white washed history...from the time of Native Americans to present day Iraq, Palestine, Africa.

Compare it to how we, as a country behaved against Panama, Granada, Haiti, Cuba.

Why do we as a country value, save and listen to ex patriot Cubans while watching Haitian boat people drown by double digits attempting to reach alleged freedom here in this country?

This is what Rev. Wright, the former Marine talks about in his sermons. Then he segues into the need for black on black self help. He echoes Bill Cosby and a few others. Maybe he is not as tactful as the others. He was, after all talking within the tribe, not mindful of outside ears, but sometimes the truth hurts, no matter how you say it.

Understand, Obama is about to have the house dropped on him, not the kitchen sink and the charge is apparently being led by the Clintons....He, who is hungry for his return to the ultimate history making spotlight....She...because for the first time a woman really can become the ultimate CEO.....

But the White House was not set up for a two headed monarchy. It was set up for one person with a little help from his friends.

King George is on the way out for the second time...We don’t need a two headed replacement, or a near senile court jester who doesn’t understand the economy, anything else beyond threats and retaliation for those who disagree with us.

Real Change....How About.....

All this hollering about whether or not Hillary should quit the race is just plain ludicrous. If the race were currently between two white guys instead of a black guy and a woman, nobody would be demanding that anyone drop out in favor of the other. It would be a duel to the death or at least until the final vote at the convention. Any man who would give in prior to the final outcome, would be termed a "quitter," or a coward with no stomach for battle, deemed totally unfit to be commander in chief of the United States of America.

The premature calls for surrender are just more examples of the chauvinism, and the mysogynistic tendencies directed at the Clinton. Afterall, she's a woman, she can't handle this battle. She's not fit to be general, so the thinking goes.

I hope she ignores them. It shows her gumption and determination.

Although, I feel that some folks will also use this extended competition as another excuse to justify their vote for McCain or to fuel their calls for Al Gore to jump into the fray.

Despite his oscar, Gore is still very establishment...the very thing that everyone says they're tired of...

If we want real change..if everyone is already tired of Hillary or Barack, then maybe we need to resurrect Dennis Kucinich...

Redux...More Peripheral B. S.

Been listening to all the stuff about Obama's preacher and how Barack should disavow his pastor for all of the so called racist/separatist things he allegedly has been saying.

Well, I think Barack should do that when Dubya and the rest of em disavow, Pat Robertson, and all the rest of the pseudo christians who keep appearing on FOX news.

It's all just more of the same, we have to be twice as good, twice as squeeky clean, twice as pius, twice as everything in order to be seen as good enough by white folks.

It seems as though they want us to forget that it was just yesterday that some of us had to step off the side walk to let a white man pass, or be lynched for being in the wrong neighborhood after dark.

I'm all for putting the past behind us. We will never move forward as a people until that racist stuff of the past is put in the past. But I take issue when it's not really a case of forgive me and let's all of us do better, but more a situation of don't upset the white folks cause they are feeling good about themselves and their support for the black guy.

White folks, like it or not, still need to apologize, no reparations needed...just say I'm sorry...I can forgive you, but the knowledge of the past will follow me to my grave.

Just because you support Obama doesn't make you any less of a racist, necessarily. It is the beginning of change, not the place where we will ultimately end up.

Obama is the man because he is willing to go against the status quo. We should follow him for that reason alone. Again, if you check out his record, you will see that he does indeed walk the walk.

His campaign shows that he is a major strategist, and is simply beating Hillary at her own game.

The more I see Hil-Billery on the campaign trail the more uncomfortable I get about her leading this country. I really don't think she can control her hubby.

I let it pass about Barack becoming her vice president...but actually...that was an insult...flat out...

3.05.2008

No Pain, No Gain

Hillary takes three out of four and she still can't win. She realizes it too. Today for the first time I heard her imply that she might be willing to be vice president to Barack's president.

I still think the nomination is his, but it seems the democratic powers that be are still scheming against him and trying to make our girl number one.

My own personal opinion is that Barack will have a better chance against McCain than Hillary.

McCain is making ready to place put us in World War III. He hasn't learned yet that guns don't solve anything.

Oh well, on to Pennsylvania.

Peripheral B***S***, and Other Monday Morning Crap

Hillary....first rule of thumb in any competition....don’t let your opponent see you sweat...you’re sounding pretty shrill, girl....you’re sounding like someone who’s losing..now take a deep breath....and let’s get back to the issues..
**
B.O. haters please...get a life....who gives damn if Obama doesn’t place his hand over his heart during the Star Spangled Banner....In my life time we were taught to put palm over chest for the pledge of allegiance and to stand at attention for the national anthem...saluting was for the armed forces, period....I don’t recall Obama being former military...do you?

And I am so sick of white people trying to tell black people how to feel about being an American. We’ve spent most of our lives fighting second class citizenship, racism, segregation, sexism...yet despite the constant and consistent slap downs that come at us no matter what we achieve...you want us to hide our feelings and always play the happy Negro in public so you can feel good about yourselves and say ....”wow, we’re really making progress, aren’t we!” ....And in case you decide to take issue with my making this a race issue....I don’t see or hear black folks taking issue with Michelle Obama’s comments...Even black republican puppets are staying away from this one...ya’ll need to check yourselves...

And let’s be honest....all of you engaged in this extraneous crap know you never intended to vote for him anyway.....you don’t need excuses.....just stand up and say it...Despite all the work of the Bush/Cheney cabal...this really is America....you do have the right to disagree...
**

Ralph...I’m okay with you running for president...you can run as many times as you want..you are after all, an American...But if you really, really cared about America...more than you care about Ralph Nader...then maybe you’d forego this latest foray into politics and work from the background....In your interview today you came off more decrepit than McCain...Why not tuck your ego and allow the kids to do it...Be Gandolf...Let Obama be Aragorn...
**
Johnny Mc....doesn’t matter who you select as VP....you’re in trouble..the NYT story was not only about women, it was about your ethics and apparent connections to big business type bad guys....or have you forgotten Charlie and the savings and loan debacle...smells like a problem..
**
Huckleberry...you still in the race? Hmmmmmmmmm...
**
Condi sighting...she’s in South Korea for the inauguration of the new president...guess she had to choose between South Korea and Cuba which installed baby brother Raul in the top spot...Fidel is not dead, he’s just moved over into a consulting spot....The best way to kill that dictatorship is to lift the embargo...
**
One last thought....the secret concentration/detainment camps are still being built, thanks to the workings of the Bush/Cheney cabal and their minions in congress....KBR is busily at work building places to house those of us who speak too loudly...It’s all a part of home land security, even animal rights activists have been relabeled as domestic terrorists.....code named ENDGAME....came about in 1999... two laws passed quietly....check it out...

Big Wheel Keeps on Turning...

Since when did Tina Turner become the Queen of Soul? I love her, but there is only one Queen, one Diva...the rest are Princesses and or Divettes...c’mon now....

********

Seven years after the fact, the government is going to try terrorists for taking down the world trade centers. Six have been indicted and will be subject to secret trials, just as they were tortured secretly. They will also be subject to the death penalty if convicted. My main problem among many with this scenario is that I don’t recall hearing Osama Bin Laden’s name among those charged and I don’t think any of those charged are Saudi Arabians who had ties with Iraq. I’m having a problem with the alleged facts in this case, as well as with the timing of this situation. The politics of fear...will it change the outcome of the election in November, or has it run its course?

********

The History Channel says the anthrax scare was an inside job...as in originated with native grown terrorists...not middle eastern terrorists.....so native....they were probably government workers...working undercover....Are we surprised....no...Wish I could live another 100 years so that I could find out who really blew up the trade center towers....

******

The more I listen to John McCain, the more I’m sure the guy is entering the first, or maybe even the second stages of dementia. Does he really think folks are going to put him in the White House so that he can keep us in Iraq for the next 100 years, if necessary?

He is having trouble putting away his GOP opponent Mike Huckabee. How does he think he is going to handle the cultural juggernaut that the Democrats are planning to throw at him in the general election.

I feel it’s going to be Obama, but even Hillary would be a force to reckon with for the old guy from Arizona. MSM hasn’t figured this out yet...They still think it’s a matter of experience.

His speeches are painful to listen to and especially to watch. I give him all of his due respect. He is an American hero. But the days of electing a hero to lead the country just because he can fly a plane and drop bombs on indigent people, are over. I didn’t like Ike and I don’t care for McCain.

McCain has no vision, no creativity and certainly no flexibility to handle a job as daunting as president.

His selection of vice president will speak volumes...will it be Joe Lieberman, the used to be democrat, or will it be Reverend Mike, the man who wants to marry religion to government, thereby creating a western union that would rival any dreamed up by the jihadist suicide bombers of the middle east.

The talk show propelled Huckabee still thinks he is the answer. He needs to turn off the TV and radio, open his window and listen to the whispers of the street. Drumbeat don’t lie....

******
Speaking of drumbeat....I would hope that the democratic super delegates are paying attention to the people.....a back room deal that hands the nomination to the wrong candidate is going to tear the party apart.

The Democrats are great at snatching defeat from the hands of victory....they’ve already screwed up their mandate in congress that was given them in 2006. Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid suck at leadership on Capitol Hill. All they’ve done is cave in to Dubya, on just about everything. I’m really, really tired of professional politicians doing what they think is “right” for me. We need term limits and a ban on lobbyists in Washington.

******

Who gives a damn about millionaire ball players who choose to take steroids and growth hormone? And why is anyone surprised that John Rocker has admitted to steroid use? He was obviously in roid rage when he shot his mouth off, way back when he was pitching. Give Clemens the cell next to Marion Jones and move on to Barry Bonds..

******

And where will you be on June 21, 2008? Ron Paul supporters want you in Washington for a march on the White House. I would guess that all two or three Paul supporters will be there. I wonder if he is going to announce it in his newsletter?

It's Time

If given the chance I will vote for Barack Obama because....

I am not happy with the status quo, compassionate conservatism is a myth and an oxymoron...

I don't believe in trickle down economics or that Ronnie Raygun was our best president..

I was totally against going into Iraq, I am totally against staying there any longer than we have to as a military presence...so John McCain's continued warmongering takes him off the table for me, as well as his own admission that he doesn't understand the economy. ..I would venture to guess that diplomacy escapes him as well...

Hillary, has some great ideas and is a wonderful asset...I just don't feel or see her vision...I want to be excited about America again

Mitt Romney is not likeable...He says what he thinks we want to hear, that smacks of dishonesty...He practices a religion that didn't recognize me or my ancestors as human and he campaigns like we don't exist, now....

Mike Huckabee is a homophobe, despite his guitar playing and religious credentials..He wants to change the constitution to reflect God's word...which god..which bible...

Ron Paul is a racist..despite what he says, his name is the one on the banner of his newsletters...just like my name is on the top of this blog....I can't deny these words...neither can he deny his content.....

I believe we need massive change in Washington, within our government...

I believe we need term limits...line item veto, and a ban on lobbyists and special interest groups as anything other than silent spectators on Capitol Hill..I think we need public funds financing our political campaigns..

I believe that Barack Obama represents the revolution that we need..
I feel the hope....I see the vision....

No, he does not have all the answers....no one person does..But I see in him the creative capacity to make things work...better than they've been working for the past several years...

I see in him the statesman, the dreamer, the guy who can take lemons and make lemonade and be comfortable enough to drink it spiked with a little vodka.....

Barack also reminds me of someone else....Her name was Barbara Jordan...She, too lives in Barack...I hear her when he speaks...And that means more to me than even the endorsement of Caroline Kennedy...

Bill Clinton’s Legacy

Is apparently Barack Obama. It was a route in South Carolina according to the Associated Press. All news agencies declared Obama the winner by substantial margins as soon as the polls closed.

And it wasn’t just black people who voted for him. It was women and young people. In fact, Obama’s victory is cutting across all demographics to the consternation of all the pundits.

Guess the voting population is not as stupid at the MSM would have us believe. This vote doesn’t appear to have been shaped by racism or racial or gender divides. It seems as if this country is really, really ready for a change in direction in this country.

On to Super Tuesday..........

1.19.2008

WTF?!

is all I can say after listening to Fred Thompson speak following the closing of the South Carolina polls....

What he did was prove that he can't talk without a script or teleprompter. Off the cuff is out the question. Please, Fred, go have a scotch and fall asleep..you'll feel better in the morning...

Second observation.......I really, really don't like Chris Mathews...Someone needs to tell him that "cute" only works for three year olds and under...Go sit down and let the grown ups handle the commentary....Someone needs to tell him that good reporters "report" the story...or relate a good story...they don't attempt to hijack the story by injecting themselves in the middle of the action...

Third Observation....Women have spoken....Hillary wins Nevada....It's going to get real ugly now.....
