Another peaceful outreach from one of our upstanding Christian ministers....The Reverend Terry Jones...he of the Dove World Outreach program....wants to mark the anniversary of 9/11 by burning a Quran.

That will teach them 1.4 billion muzlims, he says..that they can't knock down our buildings...

Great way to get their attention anyway.....what ever happened to sitting down over a cup of something and talking out our differences?

Oh...I forgot.....we bombed Iraq....mindlessly support Israel....and can't seem to get out of Afghanistan, while keeping our nukes pointed at Iran, another quagmire of our making...

Chelsea never got caught misusing drugs or being drunk in public like a certain set of twins who occupied the white house... nobody batted an eye about that wedding down in Crawford, Tx...or how much it cost..

This is the only child of one of the most successful power couples in the known universe...and she's marrying a kindred spirit...

Obama snooping

One of my biggest problems with the Obama Administration is it's wholesale embrace of all things Bush when it comes to curtailing our civil liberties...We lost a lot of freedoms under the Bush Administration....

Obama campaigned saying he would restore them.....he has not...

In fact....he is asking that the powers invested in those National Letters that Bush used, to be expanded...

Bush used the National Letters ...which are nothing more than “no knock” search warrants without prior court approval.....to bully libraries into turning over lists of the books we read...bully banks into turning over private banking records...and phone companies to look at phone calls....

Now they want more power to go after all of our emails and web browsing history...

This from the man who said he wouldn't do this kind of stuff....When in fact...the death of our freedoms has speeded up under Obama..

The problem with expanding the powers of the Executive Branch is not with the President who made the expansion...it's the presidents who come after and refuse to relinquish the increased power and authority.

Drug Relief

The House voted today to narrow the gap between punishments for possessing crack cocaine vs powder cocaine. Obama is expected to sign it once it hits his desk in the next week or two.

The war on drugs should have been called the war on black men given the devastating effect on the Black community since the laws were enacted more than two decades
ago. Congress, led by President Reagan enacted the unfair legislation based on the lies that crack or rock cocaine was more addictive than powder cocaine.

This lie was coupled with another lie stating that those hooked on crack were more violent. There was no science backing up these beliefs, just raw emotion and bigotry, some
of which continues percolating today on Capital Hill.

Crack was cheaper, became a street drug. Powder remained the drug of choice for the upwardly mobile, primarily white community. But instead of busting them...they chose
to bust us....

Get busted with crack and you were sent to jail and the key to the cell was thrown away. Get busted with powder, you ended up with probation and community service and sent
home to write a book, once you got out celebrity rehab.

According to the United States Sentencing Commission, in 2008 80% of all offenders locked up, were Black. Just 10% were white. Powder cocaine offenders were 52%
Hispanic, 30% Black and 16% white. In 2010, those statistics have not changed much. Blacks and Hispanics are still being locked up disproportionately.

However, when the drug of choice was crack those convicted spent an average of 116 months in jail vs 91 months for powder cocaine users.

Despite knowing that there is no difference, essentially between powder and rock except for who can afford to buy it, Congress refused to totally do away with the disparities in sentencing. They narrowed the gap down from 100-1 to 18-1, meaning rock is going to draw a stiffer sentence...just not as bad as before.  Also means powder users will walk from jump, straight to celebrity rehab. 

Separate and unequal prevails...still...

The new bill also is not retroactive, so that those folks who got screwed and jailed are still screwed and will remain in jail. Those folks are primarily Black and Hispanic
nonviolent possession cases.

The big users and dealers continue to go free.

It is a step forward, one that President Obama could expand upon, by issuing a blanket pardon for those small time fish who got caught up, after he signs the bill into law sometime in the next couple of weeks.

But I'm not gonna hold my breath for that one.

However, I am grateful for the progress that was made today. 

Thank you, President Obama.

Liar, Liar, Pants on Fire!

Shirley Sherrod lied and we can thank Jeffrey Lord for setting us straight......

Who is Jeffrey Lord, well he writes for The American Spectator and is a former Political Director in the Reagan White House, which means he is just this side of dead by now. However he still has enough life in him to roll out a convoluted defense of Andrew Breitbart and Fox News for their hatchet job on Sherrod.

According to Lord, Sherrod lied about her relative, one Bobby Hall, who she said during her now infamous NAACP address, was lynched. Not so, says Mr. Lord. Bobby Hall was beaten to death by the County sheriff and his deputies with solid bar blackjacks and their fists, while he was handcuffed and defenseless. The beating went on for 20-30 minutes. The case went all the way the United States Supreme Court, and in their ruling cited by Mr Lord, the Justices agreed that Hall was beaten to death.

To bolster his argument Lord points out that all of the Justices, or most of them anyway were put on the court by that liberal jack-a-napes, FDR, including the lifetime membership KKK card carrying Justice Hugo Black.

Therefore Mrs. Sherrod is a bald faced liar who is attempting to stir up racial hostilities by invoking terrible lynching images. She should have told the truth and said her relative was beaten to death by a group of white police officers.

Why is it not a lynching? Well in most minds, including Mr. Lord's apparently, lynchings only happen when you string somebody up with a rope and choke the life out them after you've brutalized them in other ways. After all, we've got all kinds of pictures of some 4700 people hanging from trees or light posts in America.

However, the dictionary definition of a lynching is simply this: Putting a person to death by mob action without due process of law..

Don't need a rope to have a lynching. That is why the 1998 killing of James Byrd Jr, a Black man who was tied to the back of a truck and dragged to death is considered a lynching.

She did not lie. But then we knew that. And what the hell difference does it make if someone is beaten to death with iron bars or hung from a tree....Does it really...really matter?

Lord also takes issue with how Mrs. Sherrod described the killing of her father, as a means of questioning her veracity.

His senility really becomes apparent when he tries to defend Breitbart. According to Lord, it must have been some sort of mix up.

In other words, Breitbart had the tape and he edited it, creating two tapes...one good one and one bad one. Somehow this expert blogger...I refuse to call him a journalist....managed to post the wrong tape on his website...and....it was the wrong tape that was used to indict Shirley Sherrod.

Further, according to Lord, Fox News didn't know that Breitbart screwed up when they looped the wrong tape in their 24 hour cycle. It was all a mistake, no harm, no foul...especially since Shirley Sherrod and her Obama-lovin' ass is such a liar to begin with.

If she hadn't lied all this never would have happened. This old white guy swallows his foot even more when he says the only reason she worded her speech the way she did was out of her obsessive love for  Barack Obama. She was merely protecting him, like all good Black people do, along with  his liberal agenda.

So, it's all her own fault that she got fired....just like all this talk of racism and the stuff that happens to Black people is our fault as a people...we just love kicking ourselves in our  collective black ass...so we can stick it to the masters of the universe to make them look like big bad men.

Right!

Hey Homes, You Messed Up, Man-Another Open Letter to the President

You left that sista hangin', man. You didn't help her. In fact, you let your boys beat her up worse than those fools at Fox News. And, then when the shit hit the fan, man, you ducked, hid out in the White House and sent your mouth piece to talk for you, when you should've apologized personally, as soon as it turned around.

This lady runs deep in Civil Rights history, man. She has walked the walk all her life before you was Barack Obama. You messed up man. Messed up. Never should a happened in the first place. You didn't have her back, when you should have.

And now everybody's mad at ya.

But you know, I think some of it's our fault too. We expected so much of you. We assumed so much of you. We assumed you had our back, that when we called you “Homes” you knew what that meant.

You were honest, dude. You told us about how you was raised up. How your black daddy left your white mother to raise you in her world. You told the truth. You didn't try to fool nobody. We just saw what we wanted to see and made it happen. We got a Black President.

The thing is you look black, man, like your daddy, but you react to the world the way your mother taught you. You don't really know what it's like for black people in America, because you ain't never been there.

You been to Indonesia and around the world. You learned how to play hoops realistically, however if Reggie told the truth, he would probably say you play like a white boy, steady, effective, but no MJ flash.

Your journey leading up to this point took you through the white world, through the real Harvard instead of Illinois college of higher learning for Black men, otherwise known as the Cook County Jail. You spent more time with your mother's people than you have with us and it shows.

Look at any black looking person who has spent his or her life being the “fly in the buttermilk” and you will see a person who is not really comfortable around other black people. They can't help it, and neither can you. It's what they and you are used to. The internal understanding of Black America is simply not there.

You can sit down and share a beer with the Skippy Gates of the world. He is just like you, always reveling in the lack of black genes in his own gene pool. He looks black, but as he so often reminds..he's three quarters white. You seem to want to relate differently than Gates, but you don't know how. You are at least trying.

No disrespect, but you can't dance, man. You ain't got no rhythm, no moves, no empathy for your father's people. You weren't raised with black consciousness. Viscerally, you don't understand Blackness. You're like that wild animal rescued by humans, who can't be released back into the wild because he's never been wild or totally free in the first place.

When we put you in the White House, we figured you would have our back, that we could trust you to instinctively know things, black-things, and that finally there was a President who understood and would work it out for us, even while he was placating the man. No, we weren't looking for change overnight, far from it. As the godfather of soul said...we just wanted someone to finally open the door and let us in...we can serve ourselves.

We refused to believe, despite what you handed us by way of your cabinet and by the stances that you continue to take, that you not only work to placate the man...you are he and he is you.

No offense meant, Homes. You look like us, but you ain't us.

C'mon Homes, you know nobody really wants that chump change welfare check. You can't live off that shit.

We was expecting a massive program to put people to work immediately, not after you get out of office. You policies are worse than the voodoo economics of Reagan. We was already in deep doo-doo from Reagan and the mismanagement, lies and wars created by Bush the younger, and now you're putting stuff into place that you say will make things better...we just have to wait until 2014 or later...

2014 ain't gon be no middle class, or regular people, man just rich people and the poor who serve them.

Homes, we elected you because we like you, because you're smart, because you really are the best of America at this point in time.

But you got to do better. You got to stop flinching every time the Right fakes a sucker punch. You need to learn how to counter punch.

Rather than simply breaking bread with our people, you need to sit down on the stoop ….go visit the hood....go check out the unemployment lines....cop a seat at the welfare office and play with the babies.....talk to old black people....have you really listened to your mother in law...engaged her in a conversation about blackness, because if you have, it doesn't appear that you really heard her.

You've done a lot... accomplished a lot in a very short time and we really, really are proud of you.

But you're missing the big picture, Homes, and it may bring about early foreclosure and eviction from the beautiful big White House that you're currently renting and calling home.

It's not too late for change.

When Blackaphobes Attack

The country is entering day three of the Shirley Sherrod fiasco. Will she take the new job offered by Agriculture Secretary Vilsack? Is she okay with the apology by proxy of the President? Or will she demand a rose garden tea party at the White House with Vilsack and the Prez handling the pouring duty? Will they invite Andrew Breitbart, too? Or Roger Ailes of Fox?

Inquiring minds, really don't give a damn at this point.

Personally, I'm drained by this story. I was tired and looking for something else to occupy my mind by late afternoon yesterday, right after the “I'm sorry” press conference with Gibbs doing the presidential mea culpa.

So first thing this morning, during my search for other news, I stumble across this...Black man who has a problem with the Black National Anthem. The official title as we all know is “Lift Every Voice” written as a poem by James Weldon Johnson and set to music by his brother John Rosamond Johnson.

For the record, the poem was written in 1900 to honor the birthday of Abraham Lincoln and to introduce Booker T. Washington during a segregated school gathering of children.

This step n fetchit doesn't have a problem with the song, per se. He has a problem with calling it the Black National Anthem. Says it never refers specifically to Black people with its uplifting message. In fact, he says, you can apply it to all races and should.

He comes right out and says, the song should not be called The Black National Anthem because it prevents “racial cohesiveness.” He attacks as if something uplifting and good can't just be Black...it also has to be white, too, in order to be acceptable. He questions whether it should have been used at Obama's inauguration, where it was quoted by one of the Reverends in attendance.

He also says Martin Luther King would not be happy with calling it The Black National Anthem, either.

Obama himself doesn't know the words to the song...saw him and his wife attempt to sing it one time on TV...... most Blacks living today don't know it either..They recognize the music...but nobody knows the words anymore...

Yet, for some reason, CNN chooses to put this story on its online front page today...Why?

Is this some not so subtle coded message to screen our songs and gospels hymns because they might scare white people some more and therefore make them less amenable to “racial cohesiveness?”

My questions is...what DON'T we do that doesn't scare white people?

Why all the attacks on Blackness?.... to make it look like we're the ones who have the problem...you know...that “racism” problem....like we invented that “racism” problem....It's our music...it's our hair..it's the way we dress...it's the way we talk....it's the way we do our jobs when dealing with white people......or the neighborhoods where we choose to live....or the way we interpret the bible...on and on and on....

We may have a “reactionary” problem.. an inbred genetic tic, so to speak....as in we are forced to live our lives “reacting” to whatever white people throw at us and fear from us....We've grown up learning how to literally dodge bullets, mentally and physically...

You know what I'm tired of.....I'm tired of having to neuter my blackness to make white people feel more comfortable in their own skin....I'm tired of having to be the one to change within a system not of my making, that was stacked against me at inception...

I'm tired of being told that I'm the broken one inside that system....I'm tired of being told this is not my country....

I'm tired of being told that my attitude is bad, because I don't accept my place in second place, ten paces behind.....

I'm tired of being told to wait for it, because racial cohesiveness is just around the corner, and the proof of that is because “we put a Black man in the White House.”

What's this “we” shit kemo-sabe? White people elected Obama...let's get that out....And yes, 90% of Black people voted for him, too. Me, included.

But 90% of all the Black people in this country don't amount to enough votes to send Obama to DC..

So we have the Black man in the White House that white America wanted, and given his current track record with Black America...ya'll should be dancing a happy jig with the job he is doing on us....

Black-a-phobes...both Black and White versions.....are busy running away from Blackness in fear...that it will change their world....

But then again...isn't that what they said they wanted when they elected Obama?

Change?

What's Worse Than N*****

Okay, so the Tea Party Federation has expelled the much larger Tea Party Express Group because it refused to fire the bigoted Mark Williams, the guy who's been figuratively talking in black face with the likes of Abraham Lincoln, no less.

Williams was set off by the now infamous NAACP resolution calling teabaggers a racist organization, and like all bigots over-reacted big time to the resolution.

He resorted to using the term “coloreds” in his diatribe this time around, rather than the term “nigger” since he proved he couldn't spell it on his tea bag rally placard (Williams spelling-niggar)


Canning Williams and his bigoted bunch is just a start. There is still the problem of Rush, Glen, Mike, Ann, Laura, Sarah, Tom, Mitch, Michelle, Michelle...well you get the picture..

These “leaders” should also be disavowed if the Tea Party is seriously looking to eject racists and attract Blacks and other minorities...that is if you're serious about bipartisanship...which I truly doubt...

Oh, I know there is a rally in the works called Uni-Tea...catchy...it's a rally scheduled for next month to bring white teabaggers and black teabaggers together into the open air to hold hands and sing Kumbyaa for all the world to see....

But Uni-Tea seems nothing more than a tribal conversation among like minded individuals...what about reaching out...

I also have my doubts because you're not really a nebulous grass roots organization that you pretend to be either...too many corporate, right wing rich people calling the shots....Dick Armey, Lyn Cheney or Virginia Thomas ( uncle Clarence's wife) ring a bell?

And there is that other sticking point.....All this talk about “taking back your country..”

That one phrase is the most racist thing that you folks keep saying...over and over and over again...like it's true...

I can handle being called a nigger better than I handle hearing that phrase coming out of your mouth every time you open it to speak...

If you “take back your country” what about the rest of us...

Want to stop all the talk of racism.....white privilege...get others to listen to your side of the story...then drop the bullshit about it being “your country”

Friday Rap

The ink ain't even dry on the parchment yet and already the orange colored peril is wiping his ass with it. Talking about John Boehner calling for repeal of the Finance Reform Law as soon as it was approved by the Senate.

Boehner even arrogantly stated that when he is Majority Leader next year, everything President Obama has accomplished will be rolled back.

Why? Because the people don't want it, he says.

What people...didn't talk to me...and last I heard there is an election coming in November.. and Boehner's seat is on the auction block...

I don't realistically expect him to lose his seat considering where his home district is located in Ohio..no minorities in his area...or women who think for themselves...so he is safe having won nomination in the primary by 85% of the GOP vote...

Personally, I'm happy Financial reform is being put in place....I'm happy Healthcare reform will mean that I can now get health insurance being one of those folks with a pre existing condition...

I like the Ledbetter equal pay act, guaranteeing that women will finally be truly compensated for their work...

I like that DADT is on its way to being repealed...and that the Hate Crimes Bill was strengthened...and that LGBT senior citizens are now being recognized as people....

I like the tax breaks going to the middle class instead of the wealthy in hopes they will trickle down jobs for those who don't have them...

I like credit card reform.....I like stem cell research.....I like that BP is being made to clean up its mess in the Gulf.....

I like the fact that President Obama is cracking down on business which ships jobs overseas...they are losing their tax breaks going forward...means corporate America must make jobs here in America for Americans...

I like that Goldman Sachs has to pay back some money in penalties for lying to the people..

I like that Financial reform means no more Bank Bailouts paid for by taxpayers.

I like the fact that the country is pulling out of Iraq and is dialing it down in Afghanistan....

That's a helluva track record after only a year and a half in office...

So, who is the Congressional Oompa Loompa talking about when he says the people are not happy? Besides teabaggers, that is...

Must be the folks who gave him $890, 321 this cycle to talk shit..

People like Goldman Sachs, JP Morgan, Bank of America, Home Depot, Wendys, Walmart, Walt Disney....to name a few...

Personally, I hope Palin runs for president in 2012....She of big ambitions and overwhelming arrogance is slowly revealing her desire to move into the White House...like we hadn't already seen the lights in her eyes at the possibility in 2008..

Her SarahPac is raising money like crazy. She's hired advisers to keep her feet out of her mouth when she speaks...note to adviser-guys...you're not doing a very good job....need to improve...

She's apparently made a pact with the devil in the form of Levi Johnston to make an honest woman of his baby mama, so grandma Sarah won't have to deal with any snow-billy drama come election time..

Palin's reaching out to minorities by proclaiming that her husband is interracial and therefore we should cut her some slack since she has “one” in her family, too...

In fact....she only has two problems that I can see.....She quits or runs away when it gets too hot in the kitchen...

and.....There's that “brain” thingey.....It's tough being president or running for president when space between your ears is empty...literally....

But then all those advisers she now has on staff have probably convinced her that all she needs to do is to rely on them...they will do her thinking for her..

After all...worked for eight years for Dubya, right...

Question is....what self respecting macho GOP guy is going to play Cheney to Palin's Bush?..or can she draft Todd as Vice President?

Maybe the GOP will give us the dream ticket.....Palin/Bachmann Overdrive....bitchin!.

Hence....NCAA, or National Collegiate Athletic Association becomes....N C 2A....or Congress for Racial Equality becomes, CORE.....The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People becomes....N-A-A-C-P in old Black peoples' parlance and N double A C P in younger peoples' talk..It is a matter of speed when talking....not embarrassment...

There is a difference between writing a name and speaking a name...and that is what this really is all about...

When fake conservatives don't have a valid response, they kick up peripheral bullshit to cloud the air and sap off the energy of the people attempting to find real information and debate...

This peripheral bullshit should be ignored...but I got nothing to do today, so I'll give Mr Varadarajan a couple of minutes of my time and waste some space on another phoney intellectual...You can read him here..

There is no need to feel bad about the word “colored” ….there are worse words out there to be concerned about...

Hell, I'm colored officially according to my very American and government issued birth certificate..right there in black and white ink...written on a typewriter above the red officially embossed seal....”Colored”...parents...both “colored”....

Maybe not heard as often..as nigger...for instance...but still in rotation and heard periodically...

Instead of looking at the NAACP argument, Varadarajan proceeds to attack the organization...Dismissing the argument as a way of climbing into the headlines by being falsely hysterical...This old accusation dates all the way back to 1619...

Black people have been told since slavery that we should be beholden to white people for rescuing us from Africa....this is being resurrected today by the revisionists of which Varadarajan is one...

We should be grateful because they always take care of us and provide for us whether it be in slavery or in welfare, or in the prison system or public school system....

And any insults from lynching on down to spitting on our person is usually always a figment of our very active imagination...just like the insults and signs and guns of the Tea Party movement...

It's not racism....it's us....It's always been us.....white people good....black people bad!

According to Varadarajan, the Tea Party is an Athenian or “god-like” organization....not political like the N double A Colored People organization.

For those needing definition...Athena was a Greek God in their mythology..whenever pseudo scholars want to compliment something or someone, or bolster their bogus arguments, they compare them to the Greek and Romans gods, said to represent the highest classical attainments of white man society ignoring which continent the Greeks stole their “civilization” from...

Besides....it's Obama's fault that Black people are still suffering according to Varadarajan...the NAACP isn't attacking the real root of their problem because he is one of them...

In other words...”we has seen the enemy and it is us” so to speak...

And there in lies the big problem in America....We've got a Black man in the White House causing trouble..as Black men always do..

Got to get him out...quickly....take back our country and return “our” people to sanity...

Equinox Cincinnati Pride Aftermath

Mayor Mark Mallory led off the parade. Earlier he'd walked down the sidewalk toward Sentinel where the session was forming through a totally oblivious crowd.

He was just another Black man in a suit, walking with a guy dressed in yellow. No body guards, nothing to indicate that the Mayor of the Queen City was among us.

It would have been nice to see a placard on the side of his car, telling those who didn't know...and seemingly most didn't, who the man in the convertible was......

every other local politician managed to be
somewhere else on this festive day..

There were no protesters in evidence which was a marked change from past celebrations. Did see one tall thin Black man dressed head to toe in hot black wool, it looked like. He was turbaned with a black scarf to cover his face, standing in front of the Fountain with a massive and very worn copy of what appeared to be a Bible of some kind. He was just standing there, doing a slow motion twirl, seemingly trying to decide whether or not to approach anyone. He never did while I watched him.


"Queers!" erupted from the mouth of one homeless guy talking to another as I crowd watched. It wasn't bigotry, it was more like a guy trying to make his deaf companion hear above the noise and the word Queer was the shorthand to understanding. Once understanding was reached the pair decided to take their naps this day in Lytle Park.

The overwhelming feeling of this pride was how normal and non controversial it turned out to be. The parade was fun, and the people were there for a good time. The crowd was mixed, singles, couples, couples with dogs and families with kids....looked like any other holiday in America...and that was cool...

Entertainment kicked off the Cincinnati Mens Chorus, followed by a Janis Joplin sound alike, local great Tracey Walker, another singer, obviously a crowd favorite whose name I don't know and finally the lady everyone was waiting for....Deborah Cox...who did not disappoint...Lady can sang....no lip sync...all voice...all real....Beyonce...Janet...Gaga...take note...real pipes cannot be replaced with studio magic...

Cincinnati is coming out of the closet this weekend like a drunken GOP congressman caught driving his boyfriend home after a night at the bar.

It's Pride Weekend in Cincinnati! Happy Pride!

Of course it wouldn't be Pride without some cat fighting and controversy.

The activities being moved downtown has some upset...Well girlfriends....it's supposed to be downtown...that is where it began in 1973.....Downtown...on Fountain Square.....where everyone...the entire city was invited to join in....Cumminsville....OOPs!....Northside....was the backup plan...

If the bar owners of “Northside” wanted it to stay in “Northside”....they should have jumped in and taken over the Pride organization when the Community Center said it could no longer do the parade and festivities..

As it were....The rich white guys of the Gay of Chamber of Commerce stepped in, and you know, the only stage they want to showcase their fabulous-ness on is on the main stage.....and in Cincinnati...that is Fountain Square....

Others are pissed off that the rich guys have not included enough diversity...In fact I read an interview with the HWGIC who admitted as much...not enough diversity and we will do better next year he said...

Well, it's always next year for diversity....after hearing that lame bullshit for 40 years now...I turn a deaf ear and just get my own party on anyway....I've said it before....the LGBT community is no more inclusive than the still nearly all white patriarchal society that continues to rule America...even with a Black guy in the White House....

It is changing....but not yet....

Now that Cincinnati is truly growing up...maybe the Black LGBT community can stop hiding and get together like Chicago, Detroit, Atlanta, and Los Angeles to name a few....and put on their own Pride Celebration...Black Pride in these cities usually happens simultaneously with it's paler and more official version...

Everyone goes to the same parade...but then it's we party ova heah with family and friends, ribs, kool aid and potato salad, ya'll ...while the white folks go to the bars and pub crawl and get drunk...

Black Pride celebrations...especially the one in Chicago reminds me of the Black Family Reunion...just a little more festive...so to speak...

Frankly....I'm a little confused about the slam of not enough activities for poor gay people to take part in....HUH!...what's the fukin parade and festival? Nobody is charging admission to stand on the street...There is a whole weekend of stuff happening on the Square...free....

I don't see anything wrong with having a Ball or big dance...Fabulous Fun...something to look forward to...save your pennies...buy new shoes....dance the night away! Fun!....

The world does not revolve around poor people.... It doesn't give a damn about middle class people even.....hasn't this current economic recession taught ya'll anything?

The point is to have fun this weekend and to remember the drag queens at Stonewall who stood up and put their asses on the line so that rest of us would no longer have to worry about getting our heads busted in just because...

I've been wondering ever since I recently found out that an activist friend of mine had actually had a conversation with Clarence Thomas' grandfather, if any of Poppa Thomas' fire and race pride had rubbed off on junior and that junior was really not as embarrassing as I have come to believe.

Up to this point in time, the only thing I've seen radiating off the younger Thomas has been denial and obvious self loathing as well as constant anger that he sees a Black man in his mirror in place of the fair haired white one that he pictures himself to be in his personal fantasies.

According to my friend, Grandpa Thomas was a straight up Black man who spoke his mind and stood up for his beliefs in uplifting or attempting to uplift his people. They had met at a civil rights rally. Considering my friend, who is one of the people that I look up to and respect, Grandpa had to be cool.

My friend is a big time activist who's been through some serious shit where the man came down on him daily and yet he is still here 30 years later. He was impressed and said so, after meeting Clarence's grandfather. We both agreed during our conversation that there was nothing of the old man in the younger man, despite Clarence's written protestations that he revered his grandfather.

However, in reading Justice Thomas' written opinion on the recent gun ruling by the Supreme Court, some are now declaring that maybe Blacks were hasty in labeling Thomas an Uncle Tom. You can read here for more information.

In siding with the majority, Thomas invoked the evil specter of the KKK during post civil war reconstruction days, when white citizens councils went around taking guns away from newly freed slaves and freemen....jailing some...hanging others. Thomas displayed his grasp of Black history leading at least one writer to drown in hyperbole comparing Thomas' words to those of Malcolm X.

In casting his vote to strike down Chicago handgun ban, Thomas was voting to protect his people. Never again will Blacks be victimized by the likes of white vigilante posses bent on preserving the white status quo, so thank you, Justice Thomas....maybe.

Well, I'm happy that Thomas knows history. The only Black man on the highest court in the land should know Black history backwards and forwards. It is the mark of a learned man. I have never questioned Thomas' knowledge. However, the most academically brilliant people that I know are also some of the most cataclysmicly stupid individuals on the face of this earth.

The problem with Justice Thomas is that he may talk Black, but he sure as hell don't walk it.

What I question about Justice Thomas are his loyalties, his empathy for his people, his lack of acknowledgment of the on going internal workings of institutional racism in America.

His opinion rife with Black historical references is nothing more than Thomas playing the race card once again when it suits him to do...like during the Anita Hill hearings...or during his last book tour and interview sessions.

Thomas is Black when it is convenient to be Black. He uses “Black” without being Black.

The truth of the matter is that Thomas who never opens his mouth(four years and counting) from the bench was standing up for the gun lobby, the NRA. The white militias are still armed to the teeth and it is they who feed the coffers of the Republican Party and the people who routinely pat Justice Clarence on the top of his wooly pated head.

So please, spare me the histrionics....Thomas voted as expected...his vote while wrapped in Blackness was as white as the driven snow.

It ain't white people killing Black people these days...it's Black people killing Black people with illegal guns sold to them by the white people who can walk into a gun store anywhere in America and buy any kind of weapon they want.

Present day reality...present day Black history...something that Justice Thomas has yet to grasp..

Remembering Senator Robert Byrd

The present day image of Senator Robert Byrd as the born again Christian, kindly old grandfather shedding tears for his friend Ted Kennedy is not the image that comes to my mind when remembering him at his passing today. For much of my life, Senator Robert Byrd was a segregationist who stood along side the likes Strom Thurmond, Jesse Helms, Trent Lott, Tom DeLay and George Wallace, to name a few.

He is said to have repented his racist feelings, apologizing over and over. Well, apology accepted. However while all may be forgiven, It will never be forgotten.

Robert Byrd in his own words:


“I shall never fight in the armed forces with a Negro by my side ... Rather I should die a thousand times, and see Old Glory trampled in the dirt never to rise again, than to see this beloved land of ours become degraded by race mongrels, a throwback to the blackest specimen from the wilds.” -Klansman and not yet Congressman Byrd-quote taken from letter written to another segregationist Congressman about Truman attempting to desegregate the armed forces..

“The Klan is needed today as never before and I am anxious to see its rebirth here in West Virginia and in every state in the nation.” -1947 letter to the Grand Wizard KKK

Byrd claims to have renounced the Klan in 1952 when he became a Congressman, however his racist views continued well in the 1960's when he helped filibuster the 1964 Civil Rights Act arguing that the Declaration of Independence..


“did not intend that these words should be taken literally to be true” when they wrote that “all men are created equal.” “Men and races of men differ in appearance, ways, physical power, mental capacity, creativity, and vision,” Byrd said. “One man is born blind. Another is born lame. Geniuses are not made; they are born. Between two individuals, as between two races, there are broad differences.”

Byrd went after Dr. Martin Luther King Jr, attempting to cajole the FBI into a more aggressive investigation of the civil rights leader. The FBI declined..

As late as 2001 Byrd was caught up in trying to express his feelings, when he was interviewed by the late Tony Snow and asked about race relations in America....Byrd said:


"They're much, much better than they've ever been in my lifetime ... I think we talk about race too much. I think those problems are largely behind us ... I just think we talk so much about it that we help to create somewhat of an illusion. I think we try to have good will. My old mom told me, 'Robert, you can't go to heaven if you hate anybody.' We practice that. There are white niggers. I've seen a lot of white niggers in my time. I'm going to use that word. We just need to work together to make our country a better country, and I'd just as soon quit talking about it so much."

On open letter to the Mayor and City Council

Dear Mr. Mayor,

On Monday, Council's finance committee is expected to vote on an 11 million dollar allocation to help the 3CDC corporation and park district renovate Washington Park in Over the Rhine and I am troubled by this as well as by other moves made by 3CDC. If I were voting, the vote to allocate funds would be an emphatic "no."

3CDC started with the take over of the building across from the park in 2006. That building will be turned into high end condos overlooking the newly renovated park. The tenants were forced out, but compensated with $70 to help them relocate.

A whole $70. You can buy a metro pass for that amount, but little else. Certainly can't rent a place to live, pay the utilities and feed a family for more than half a week. The arrogance of 3CDC is palpitating, and was apparently done with the approval of the City of Cincinnati.

When corporations like 3CDC decide to do something like the Washington Park makeover, you can bet that it is not with the people in mind. Their move is with the interests of the people who will move into the area once the old, lifelong residents have been moved out.

Why else would 3CDC put forth a plan 3 years later, that eliminates an historic swimming pool and basketball courts, to be replaced by a dog park? Who is looking out for the residents of Over the Rhine? Certainly not the city.

Question: Is a rich man's dog more important than a poor man's kids? Seems so based on this plan.

3CDC operates with an air of impunity that is only matched by the likes of corporations such as Kroger, which offers 4 bus tokens to people who used to shop at their neighborhood Roselawn store until unceremoniously shuttered by the Kroger Company. The bus tokens get them 2 round trips to the Norwood Surrey Square Kroger.

Imagine your mother or some other senior citizen trying to negotiate a bus, even a kneeling one..with $100 in groceries in a rickety cart. Not a pretty picture and going on as we speak.

The silence of the city is deafening when it comes to protecting the people.

Where is the initiative to incorporate all kinds of housing, businesses and people in all neighborhoods to promote diversity and inclusion? Why is it that the poor must always make way for the lifestyles and hobbies of the well off and not necessarily famous except in their own minds.

The job of city government is to speak for those who can't speak for themselves. Yet there has been not even a whisper from the city.

Don't get me wrong, I am in favor of progress and moving forward. However 3CDC moves harken back to the days of gentrification without diversification, the days when Cincinnati was for the well off and white. 3CDC caters to all those people who deserted the city for the suburbs except for when the professional teams play.

Shortly after the condo take over by 3CDC there was an article on the company pointing out it's internal diversity. That may be the case, however it doesn't reflect diversity in it's development plans for the city. And as we all know these days, it's more of a class thing than a racial thing.

The days of a Riverfront Stadium with no banners and signs allowed are over. The days of a city refusing to recognize it's gay, lesbian and transgender population are over. The days of downtown businesses doing inventory during the music festival or Black Family Reunion weekends are over.

Downtown parks without a basketball hoop or a swimming pool sends the wrong message.

3CDC needs to be made to understand this, by you Mr. Mayor.

All of the people voted for you, Mr. Mayor, including me. We expect you to stand up for us. I hear an awful lot about your trips. I am an avid supporter of the street car initiative. I applaud your efforts to end the violence in the neighborhoods.

However, I am concerned about the plans put forth by 3CDC and its blatant disregard of the people who live in the neighborhoods they want to take over.

Making the renovation plans for Washington Park more neighborhood friendly would be a start in the right direction. A finance committe "no" vote would get their attention.

Killing Them Softly

Fighting a war without the collateral damage, that is dead civilians.... is not possible. Yet that is apparently what America is trying to do in Afghanistan.

While the big man in charge...General McChrystal is in DC today to get his bum spanked for talking out of the side of his mouth about his commander in chief, his troops are hanging out in a kind of limbo. The most well armed army in the world is once again in danger of being swept off the playing field by a rag tag army of insurgents.

We've seen this scenario before....It was called Vietnam....and apparently we didn't learn the lesson. The other side is not bound by any rules of engagement. The other side kills whomever and whenever it deems necessary to further its cause.

American troops....hampered by political correctness and the media driven gossip scandals of what a general and his aides may have said about the commander in chief...are caught in the crossfire, undecided about who to shoot and when....

The plain fact of the matter is that you can't half-ass a war....People die in war...and that includes civilians...

If you don't want civilians to die....then don't go to their country and start a fire fight.....

Especially a war like Afghanistan....which is technically not a war according to the United States Constitution...

Which is a police action with no clear initiatives....not even finding Osama Bin Laden is a priority these days...A war with a nebulous exit strategy sometime next summer.....So why are we there again?

Is it the new found mineral deposits that our ally Hamid Karzai is promising to Japan....You can bet that all the Neocons in America are probably already invested in the Japanese companies that will dig the mines if those mineral deposits are real.....

Karzai should be treated like the bitch he is and taken outside and shot...clean house with one bullet...

Afghanistan uses 2-billion dollars per day with nothing accomplished except the deaths of young men and women....for what...

Whether the general is fired or not is not really important...McChrystal was demonstrating his allegiance to his tribe.....the tribe of white men who don't respect black male leadership....Their arrogance since 2008 gets louder and louder everyday...A fire which Obama himself stokes by his apparent passivity in all matters....Sometimes rationale doesn't work...sometimes the Alpha male must roar...

Obama, rightfully, should fire him, period....I say this understanding the catch 22 that Obama lives in daily...damned if he does...damned if he doesn't...

Firing him is a chest beating testosterone driven move that is sometimes needed to control the herd..

It would be nice at the same time...to announce an exit strategy to end this endless conflict, now..

Obama's war policy is no different than his predecessor....However, the American people need something different..

If we're serious about changing course...then let's change course......stop the wars...both of them....redirect the wasted money in the defense budget into policy that promotes better living...better energy usage...more jobs on the domestic front..

Truth be told...with the drone war fare that is going on...we don't really need troops on the ground anymore to kill people, anyway...so why not bring them home and get busy rebuilding America instead of the rest of the world..

This is a direct contradiction to the US Constitution that these people say they want to uphold and follow to the letter....Well, the Constitution...specifically the 14th Amendment says any baby born here is a citizen...

Not having a birth certificate also makes it impossible to ever become a legal citizen of the US as well, since it is the foundation of all things legal in America.

It would be cheaper to just hang signs at the border telling foreigners to stay home..don't come here...

And somebody needs to go wipe that saying off the Statue of Liberty...you know the one that says..."Send us your tired, your poor, your huddled masses, yearning to breathe free... the wretched refuse of your teeming shores, send these the homeless tempest tossed to me...."

Whatever....chisel it off the Statue..better yet....blow up Lady Liberty...she was a gift from those foreigners the French and modeled after a Black woman...can't have brown skin representing America in these days of whitewashing...now can we?

Honestly don't know what to make of Alvin Green, the man who stole the South Carolina Democratic primary last week. Man didn't campaign, yet managed to beat a well known judge by capturing 60% of the vote...

Green now faces the ultra conservative Jim DeMint in November.

Personally, I blame the Democrats for this mess. I don't care what they say, nobody checked this guy out...They took the money....all 10-thousand dollars of it and let him toss his hat in the ring, then forgot about him, until he won..

This was liberal racism at work here....to the liberals...they had a black man...and you know...we all look alike...didn't matter whether he was lucid, literate or capable of leading....he was black face and that's what they needed....three black questionable faces, in fact, two of them lost....leaving Alvin exposed.

Alvin wins the nomination and we find out he's homeless...he's not...he lives with his father...he was released from the military under some so far unrevealed reasons, and according to him..."it's complicated."

Alvin claims to be unemployed, yet he says he saved up the money....all ten thousand dollars of it to enter the politcal race for Senator....hmmmmmm..

He reportedly has a felony obscenity charge hanging over his head..again..he says it's complicated and he doesn't want to talk about it...

South Carolina runs open primaries meaning voters can cross party lines to vote for whomever they choose...so many figure Republicans crossed over and voted for Green in order to give DeMint a patsy in November..,

Some think people may have thought they were voting for the Rev Al Greene the singer..you know..."Let's Stay Together....Love and Happiness"

But where were the discerning Democratic voters...those folks who vote intelligently after researching the people they want to represent them..

Hey Ohio...John Boehner and the Chamber of Commerce want taxpayers to foot the bill for the BP oil spill....

What was all that talk about a free market society where corporations are allowed to do their own thing without regulation? Well, in a real free market they have to clean up their messes on their own, too...not just rake in the cash...

John Boehner still siding with his rich benefactors rather than working for the people....and of course he and other GOP will come up with some kind of Obama made me do it kind of excuse while pocketing the money......

A Congressman from the not so great state of Georgia says that little chump change the government calls unemployment compensation is really not a good thing for people to have...

Says it actually discourages people from looking for work and he doesn't want to enable bad behavior....Guy's name is John Lindner if you want to give his office a call and convince him to see the error of his ways...

Ending on a bittersweet note...the great granddaughter of Nelson Mandela was killed in a car accident last night on the eve of the World Cup. Our prayers go out to a great, great man in his hour of grief. One of Mandela's stated goals was to bring the World Cup to Africa...He suceeded...

Tea Party Arrogance or Bachmann-Palin Overdrive

“Don't let your mouth get your ass in trouble”-ghetto wisdom...

For those who don't speak nor purport to understand ghetto, the line means that sometimes the best strategy is to simply be quiet....don't talk....don't give anyone a glimpse into your mind and what you're thinking, because you will last longer before and during the fight, if it comes to that...

Running off at the mouth is a sign of weakness....a sign that you really don't have a plan and even if you did...you can't back it up with any kind of real action. Once your hole card has been peeped...folks will usually walk away shaking their heads.....however....keep talking... and they will turn around and come back and beat your ass....

Tea baggers would do well to heed the ghetto wisdom and just shut up....stop talking...because the more they talk, the less anyone wants to deal with them..or vote for them, for that matter.

Last month surveys showed a little support for the tea baggers....this month...that support has evaporated to less than half of what it was...and it wasn't a majority or even close, in the first place.

It's like what's going on with half baked Alaska....great fun to watch...but taken seriously....not!

The teabaggers won a primary...big deal....an election of the faithful...maybe 10% of the electorate? Nothing to crow about....Nothing like November, coming up...Only now...they're selling wolf tickets..playin' the dozens with the people...as if they have a mandate to govern...

First comes Rand Paul, son of Ron who isn't too thrilled with parts of the Civil Rights Act of 1964...He even went so far during his private country club victory speech to declare his gang was going to take back the country...The next day he said it was okay for business owners to keep certain people out of their establishments and that it was even okay if the denial was based on something like skin color..

Paul the younger has spent several days attempting to walk back his comments....

Meantime, another round of primaries is over and out of Nevada comes another teabagger named Sharron Angle...Ms Angle is situated to the right of the cluelessly insane rantings of the GOP Bachmann-Palin Overdrive.

Angle wants to repeal the 14^th Amendment to the Constitution...you know that's the one guaranteeing citizenship to all people born here. It was put in place to protect Black people from crazy white people who felt that Blacks were only good for picking cotton and working in the sugar fields.

Now the 14^th creates anchor babies for illegal immigrants and that has the tea party stirred up because as one of them ….I believe his name is Hunter, said....the little immigrant babies' “soul” hasn't been American long enough to warrant citizenship, therefore it shouldn't be granted rights...

Angle also wants to remove the 17^th Amendment which shifted the election of US Senators from state legislators to the people. I would guess because the people aren't smart enough to elect the right kind of leaders..Wonder if she sees the irony...anyway..

In addition, Angle wants to abolish the Department of Education, The Internal Revenue Service, The EPA, privatize Social Security and get rid of all health care including medicare and medicaid...

Dr. Paul, the younger is also on board with these ideas, so one would imagine this is something of an unofficial Teabagger platform rumbling across America. Paul and Hunter, who is already in Congress, have signed off on this too.

However, it's never wise to telegraph what it is you intend to do, before you do it. When your goals are to dis-infranchise or to hurt big segments of the population...it is best to get elected first....if you can....then take away their rights....

Teabaggers, in their monumental arrogance, continue to operate from the premise that they speak for America, and can say anything they want without impunity.

However, it is not the only delusion under which they labor...

There is the delusion that the teabaggers are a grassroots...from the bottom up...populist political movement...instead of one created and funded by rich white guys and former operatives of the GOP...Teabaggers were created as a distraction and to obstruct the real movement taking place in the country...

Teabagger fanaticism has them believing that people.....their people are willing to give up social security...medicare and medicaid to prove the point that government is too big....

I'm still waiting for the social security/medicare card burning parties to prove they are serious about repeal.

Teabaggers believe that all people want their children to be under educated...more so than is already going on, when you compare American schools to foreign schools. White history and white washed education is really all the kids need, right? No need to learn about the others, foreign or American born.

Teabaggers believe it's okay not to tax rich people because the more money rich people have the more they are willing to spend on poor people...it's that “trickle down” thingey....like it's worked so well in the past...

And what about the oil spill....perfect example of how a small government stripped of tax revenue handles a crisis situation....it can't take over or throw money at the crisis to make it better because it has none and is not socialist in nature....

Shouldn't teabaggers be happy about what BP is doing and paying for the clean up on its own?

Doesn't sound like they are happy....Teabaggers and their leaders are foaming at the mouth and demanding that Obama the socialist nationalize BP and use government money to clean up a crisis caused by a free market corporation, apparently because the crisis is not being handled the way they think it should be handled...like...John Wayne leading the cavalry to the rescue...or to trounce the indian marauders...

Teabaggers also believe they are not racist and that nothing they do has racial overtones designed to discriminate.

Yeah...well....keep talking teabaggers.... the people are walkin away right now...but keep on talkin' and that ass whuppin' is just around the corner...can't wait for November 2^nd to get here....
