When the bill comes into effect, all the electoral votes from those states would be awarded to the presidential candidate who receives the most popular votes in all 50 states (and DC).

The bill is currently endorsed by 1,181 state legislators — 439 sponsors (in 47 states) and an additional 742 legislators who have cast recorded votes in favor of the bill.

The National Popular Vote bill has passed 21 state legislative chambers, including one house in Arkansas, Colorado, Maine, North Carolina, and Washington, and both houses in California, Hawaii, Illinois, New Jersey, Maryland, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and Vermont. The bill has been enacted by Hawaii, Illinois, New Jersey, and Maryland. These four states possess 50 electoral votes — 19% of the 270 necessary to bring the law into effect.

See http://www.NationalPopularVote.commvymvyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07860792846652677912noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-28461742.post-88243830197126579842008-11-30T18:55:00.000-05:002008-11-30T18:55:00.000-05:00This is a Constitutional issue. The Constitution ...This is a Constitutional issue. The Constitution is the highest law in America. Actually there is four cases in the US Supreme court and 28 others in various states, Keyes is still in the California courts. These cases are not related, other than to make sure that the Constitution is upheld. All the citizens have a right to know if Obama is truly qualified and as of today he has spent $800,000 to cover up all documents to prove otherwise. I find this scary as well as no media coverage. Oh yes---Hawaii never made the statement Obama was born in Hawaii---it could be a sealed vault BC from another country!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
